marcel Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Hey guys, I an interview with jouxfrance the developer of re: UC stated, that he would love to make remakes of the classic resident evil games. Hopefully in the style of RE4. Think of it wouldn’t it be so much better to play resident evil 1, 2 or 3 with the re4 (wii edition) control scheme? And of course a lot of graphical updates to keep up to today’s standards. Now my question, wish resident evil game would you like to get a complete remake on wii? and why?
Zechs Merquise Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 I voted Number 2. However, I wouldn't mind seeing them all done in their entirity we RE4 controls, updated graphics, and sold as an uber boxset. However, I think that won;t happen, lets just hpe that RE:UC achieves everything we hope it does.
Daft Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 I would kill to see Resi 2 on Wii! Leon S. Kennedy rocks!
marcel Posted September 29, 2007 Author Posted September 29, 2007 I think that secretly they are already planning a remake or a new re game for wii . because re4 wii edition sold so well on wii for a port(I think 750 000 times/ world wide) . i did not play the old re's except 4 because of the awkward control scheme. expecialy if you played re4 before that. apart from that, Umbrella chronicles looks like its going to be fun but if they do the remakes the same way ill be very disappointed. Because UC is build around this. even though it started at re4 style. and the classic re's aren’t
Gizmo Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Since I've never played any of them other than RE4, I voted for the lot
Cube Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Since I've never played any of them other than RE4, I voted for the lot Ditto. If they remove the need for typewriter ribbons.
Columnar Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 I voted for number 2 - in my opinion it had the best story and at the time I thought it was the best game ever made. I also wouldn't mind seeing Code: Veronica remade as I really like the storyline between the Redfield siblings and since Claire doesn't seem to be in Umbrella Chronicles, it would be nice to see her all next-gened up.
marcel Posted September 29, 2007 Author Posted September 29, 2007 would't it be great if all of them are being remade with an updated version of the re4 engine. but sins it is wii ofcourse why not make the cutscenes CG just like in umbrella chronicles. and ofcource 480p and widescreen capability's
Hero-of-Time Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Easliy Resident Evil 2 for me, best game in the series I think.
Zelda_Rulez Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 I voted number 2 as it seems to be regarded as the best of the series by a lot of people. I would like a chance to try it.
Cube Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 but sins it is wii ofcourse why not make the cutscenes CG just like in umbrella chronicles. I think consistency is more important than showing off in cutscenes.
pedrocasilva Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Resident Evil 2 for me; but as RE3 was never a totally separate game for me (takes place at the same time, it's shorter, etc)... I always had the secret dream where RE2 and RE3 are part of the same game and RE3 is something like a Separate Ways/Assignment Ada unlockable, how cool would that be? But yeah... Resident Evil 2 with RE4 Wii controls. would't it be great if all of them are being remade with an updated version of the re4 engine. but sins it is wii ofcourse why not make the cutscenes CG just like in umbrella chronicles. and ofcource 480p and widescreen capability'sThat's half assed, since RE4 on GC managed to do everything in-game... those cutscenes use the in-game characters and do nothing that would be really unconceivable (well, it would have jaggies and all)... so really I'd rather see then going the extra mile.
Mokong Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 RE1 does not need to be remade again, REmake is perfect as is. Zero is too "recent" to be remade. I voted for RE2, after REmake it is my fav RE game and has tons of story what with the two characters and the "B" scenarios. But i'd like to see 3 and CV also remade too.... BUT I would much rather have some version of RE5 (to save me the trouble of buying a 360 when the time comes) or a whole new "real" RE game exclusive to the Wii
Roostophe Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 I voted for 2, 3 and CV. My reason: RE1 does not need to be remade again, REmake is perfect as is. Zero is too "recent" to be remade. Mokong Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 I voted for 2, 3 and CV. My reason: haha, so you saying we think a like (great minds and all that )
Roostophe Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 haha, so you saying we think a like (great minds and all that ) Yup, I most certainly was.
Konfucius Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 I also voted 2 but I'd rather have them moving on to something new and let the RE franchise rest.
mcj metroid Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 2 all the way and then 3. I woulnt want another remake of the perfect 1.
IMJ Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 I voted for RE2. For several reasons actually. a) we've already had our REmake and RE:DS, so that storyline has been milked to death. b) I'd love to see Leon and Ada back again c) I never played RE2, but that goes for RE3 and CV as well. I do think we'll see another RE game on Wii. RE4 did far better than everyone expected for what it was. But that game was truly awesome, the controls fit very well. RE:UC will do well, but maybe not awesome, because it's a spin-off of sorts. I don't see Capcom doing a dumbed down RE5 on Wii, so it's either a side-story like CV (though it was supposed to be a proper sequel after RE2) or another remake. Doing a remake will cut down a lot of dev time, as the basic story is in place. They can even use/update the RE4 models of some characters. What all pre-RE4 games differ is the level design. It's much more cramped to fit the fixed camera angles, while RE4 has a much open world. The controls benefit from that. I don't see a Village-like opening for the previous games in a remake. That is... unless they take the basic storyline and settings, but redo the complete levels.

Exactly what I was thinking, I've only played the remake of 1 & 4 (not including the demo for the original PC version of 1). And they would have to change a lot to make it work in the RE4 style. Based on if they remade 1 again, they'd need to either:- Increase the zombie count, make the levels more open and linear, lose most of the puzzles, increase the availiable ammo, change the inventory system and change the save game system. Or. Keep it all the same except changing the view, and maybe open up the rooms a bit. I don't think going with the second option will be a good idea, as the main reason they made the change between CV & 4 was because people were getting bored of it and it was becoming stale. I don't see people feeling any different about it now. Especially if they see its in a RE4 style view only to find that most of the action is gone. In which case we're essentially left with RE4 with a different story line. Which may not be a bad thing, but if they keep down that road it's eventually going to get stale again. Saying that I'd like them to do them all in a RE4 style, as I couldn't get through the RE:make and I'd like to know the story. Then again isn't that what umbrella chronicles is for.
