ArtMediocre Posted March 11 Posted March 11 (edited) Hahaha. Btw, been hooked on The Finals for quite some time now. Great game, very fluid. Looking forward to season 2. Edited March 11 by ArtMediocre

Happenstance Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Been wanting to spend a bit more time gaming on my desktop pc so decided to take advantage of the sales going on at the moment and get a new monitor and swap out my old ultrawide. Didn't feel the need to go all the way up to 4k so this LG 1440p seemed to review well everywhere. Need to have a think what to download to test on it

Been thinking about upgrading as well but it's a nightmare trying to find what a good monitor is, so I'd be interested in your thoughts about it.

drahkon Posted March 22 Posted March 22 I have the same one. It's great. 47 minutes ago, Hero-of-Time said: Porn. IT'S GREAT! 1 4
Happenstance Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Spent some time with the monitor this weekend and I'm liking it. Good size (although I probably could have gone bigger, so glad I didn't go with the 27" like I originally planned) and everything is looking great on it. I haven't bothered over clocking it to 180hz yet as 165hz seems plenty smooth already. I'll be hooking it up to my work laptop tomorrow so we'll see how it does on that front. It's going to be nice to actually be able to share my screen on Teams calls without getting black bars for everyone else from the ultrawide. I may have gone a bit overboard with the purchases to go with it, buying a new headset, keyboard, webcam, desk mat and usb switcher but it's always nice to give everything a revamp every once in a while, especially if I want to be using it all a lot more. Need some new games to play now. I've downloaded a load I already owned for testing but I need something new to get me hooked. That was gonna be Dragon's Dogma 2 but I'm still not sure on it.
Happenstance Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Gonna try and finally play through Nier Automata as it was on sale this week. I played the demo when it came out and loved it but when I went to play the full game at launch it didn't grab me so I'm hoping I'll have better luck this time. Also bought the Command & Conquer bundle on Steam. Hoping as it's been re-released that it got patched to handle newer systems better. Few years ago a lot of them were just unplayable and as that's one of my favourite series I'd love to be able to start playing them again.
Happenstance Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Thinking about doing a few more upgrades to my PC at some point. I'd quite like to move on from my 3060 ti and could probably use a new CPU. Also wouldn't say no to some quieter cooling if I get a chance. I'll probably wait until the 5000 series comes out for the graphics card but I could be swayed by a 4000 if a good sale came along.
drahkon Posted April 1 Posted April 1 While I'm waiting for some money to be ready in my Steam Wallet so I can buy Void Stranger, I decided make ZeroRanger work on my Steam Deck. Turns out you can play some games on the device even you don't have a Steam copy. I got my files form an itch.io bundle and getting it to work was pretty easy. Anyways... this is ZeroRanger: I'm terrible with Shmups so I haven't made a lot of progress, but it's still fun! Apparently there's a bit of a surprise waiting with regards to the narrative. Can't wait to reach that point.

This is the first time ever that I've taken notes for a game Spoiler This game is proper weird and some puzzles are already pretty tough, especially if you want to get chests (i.e. extra lives). No idea what happens when you die, but I'm getting closer and closer to losing all lives Yeeeaaaahhh, so...interesting times ahead. 22 hours ago, drahkon said: ZeroRanger Managed to beat a few levels, reached a bit of a "turning point" and this game gets weird, too It's also quite difficult, at least for me. I'm really not good with shmups so I might actually not finish it, if I get too frustrated. Even though both games' genres are completely different, you can somehow feel that they are made by the same devs. 1 1
Happenstance Posted April 2 Posted April 2 First game I remember making notes for was A Boy and his Blob on NES so I could remember what all the jelly beans did 😆 2

It's kinda weird, I know It's something I've been thinking about a lot recently: I want to start writing jokes soon and I feel like it's gonna be easier for me to write 'em in English than German. I also do my writing exercises (which are basically only "freewriting" these days) in English. If I ever wanna do a bit of stand-up I may want to switch over to German, though. 1

He used to draw out the maps, Etrian Odyssey style. 2

Some floors are ridiculously easy (and I'm not talking about the ones that introduce a new enemy), some are pretty tough to solve. It seems very inconsistent. Anyways, second page of my notes: Spoiler There's also some kind of plot going on (or maybe it's in the past?) but it doesn't have any impact on...anything, really. It's odd. VERY ODD GAME.
ArtMediocre Posted April 3 Posted April 3 23 hours ago, Hero-of-Time said: Wait...you write in English? I do the same, even though I'm Norwegian For me it all depends on what language is set on the game or book I'm writing notes of. So if I'm listening to a Norwegian lecture or book, I write in Norwegian. But games, films etc. is all English. So English it is. 2 1
Happenstance Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Been itching to do some upgrades to my PC after getting back into using it and after tallying up what needs swapping out along with GPU prices it made more sense to just order myself a new prebuild then sell off my old system part by part to make some of the money back. Got the new desktop arriving tomorrow with an RTX 4070 ti Super in it which should be a nice upgrade over my 3060 ti. 1

Next time I'll have to upgrade my CPU, which means new motherboard, possibly new RAM, and why not just add a GPU as well. Hope you enjoy the new build! What did you end up buying? 1
