Bluejay Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Considering this comes out next Friday (or Wednesday for previews) I feel this is a worthy time for a thread. Are you expecting a return to pre season 9 form or just a 86 minute long new episode? I predict something somewhere in the middle. Also what are your favourite episodes of all time? Mine are Homer Badman Marge vs. the Monorail Homer's Enemy Homer loves Flanders Treehouse of Horror V Last Exit to Springfield Cape Feare Stark Raving Dad Homer at the Bat Homer the Heretic Duffless Deep Space Homer Homer the Great Mother Simpson 22 Short Films about Springfield You Only Move Twice Homer's Phobia Homer vs the Eighteenth Amendment P.S. "lololol the simpsons is shit now" is not welcome here, while it is true there has been a definate decline and everyone knows it but it is still a watchable show.
EEVILMURRAY Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 I liked the Spider Pig bit of the advert. More than any later episodes I've seen.
motion Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 The trailers weren't funny, although they were cool looking. The spider pig gag was the worst offender, joke wise, it just wasn't funny. It was like they had two bags of words and to make a gag they picked out a word from each bag, in this case 'spider' and 'ceiling'. I did like the 'I was elected to LEAD, not to READ' line though. I expect the film will be average. The series hasn't been good for years and if they can't make the trailers funny I don't hold much hope for the film. Still, we'll see eh.
triforce_keeper Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 I actually laughed for about half an hour at that Spider Pig thing. Does that mean I'm immature? XD Ah well, "Spider pig, spider pig, does whatever....a spider pig does." It's just the way he said it at the end :P
Platty Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 I can't wait to see this! I couldn't stop laughing at the spider pig bit and then later Harry porker! LOL
ipaul Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 I'm not sure this film will be all that great really. I haven't got high hopes for it but I would love to be surprised. I didn't laugh at all really during the spider pig thing but almost all the cinema found it hilarious - maybe this means I'm just a miserable sod On my favourite Simpsons episode, the onle one I can think of is Marge Vs The Monorail - almost certainly my favourite. I also very much like one of the first episodes where they go camping and Homer is mistaked for Bigfoot.
AshMat Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 FUCKING SICK, OF FUCKING SPIDER PIG! Everybody was walking around school singing "spider big, spider pig, does whatever a spider pig does", more and more i feel im not gonna like this, jsut because its gonna become SOOOO oever quoted, and the bits that aren' t funny anyway get over quoted too, like borat, can kinda ruin the movie later on.
Ant-Shimmin Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 I am going to ask this girl out to see it with me
Happenstance Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Just watched the Simpsons Movie Special on Sky, still really looking forward to it. Some new footage shown on there aswell I think.

It was like they had two bags of words and to make a gag they picked out a word from each bag, in this case 'spider' and 'ceiling'. Works for Family Guy. Just at least with the Simpsons the writers choose the words as opposed to manatees.
Slaggis Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Spider pig bit is awesome, so's the harry potter pig bit. I can't wait for this movie! (and transformers, seeing them both together this friday).
Twilight Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Somebody thought it´d be a good idea to make a Finnish dub for this movie.. It makes absolutely no sense because there has never ever been one single dubbed Simpsons episode on Finnish tv and just about everyone here thinks subbing is a better way to go. Oh well, thank god some places will be showing the original version. Can´t wait to see that.

Cube Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 I've yet to see a funny trailer of it. I'll wait for the Futurama DVD movie.
Shorty Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 I saw the trailer at Harry Potter, laughed like this: "heh" a couple of times. But really laughed at Spider Pig, so did most of the cinema, even my g/f who doesn't really like the Simpsons. But... then I saw Spider Pig again on TV and didn't laugh at all. The joke had passed. So possibly the funniest part of the film is already not funny anymore.

I seldom laugh at Family Guy, i was laughing my head off when watching an old episode with a group of people the other day.
Bluejay Posted July 21, 2007 Author Posted July 21, 2007 Hobbzinio. Big fan of Season 8? Or is that the only season you've seen? I don't really like The Springfield Files all that much, the jokes are good but the plot is a big mental and more reminiscent of newer episodes. The rest are good.

I seldom laugh at Family Guy, i was laughing my head off when watching an old episode with a group of people the other day. yeh, why are things funnier when there are more people around? I mean I can find something not funny on my own but then with more people, its hilarious.
BeerMonkey Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 how can someone not have laughed at the spider-pig the first time you saw it. Happenstance Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 If it was the best Simpsons moment ever then you would know there was no "New" in that sentence :p
Slaggis Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 If it was the best Simpsons moment ever then you would know there was no "New" in that sentence :p I still think this movie will be a return to form for them. I love all simpsons episodes, the older ones more obviously, but I'm just so hyped for this movie. :bouncy:
EchoDesiato Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 If it was the best Simpsons moment ever then you would know there was no "New" in that sentence :p Uhh... It was a test to see who the real Simpsons fans are. So good, though it didn't go on for that long in the episode.
