I suspect this is a last ditch attempt to try and make VIP Members spend their stars before the Wii points thing happens. A lot of people won't have Wii's so will feel pressured into spending the stars or loosing them, some people will just spend for the sake of using stars.

Cube Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 I got the Wii game - I could probably complete it, sell it and buy more Wii Points than I'd be able to get with the Stars points I used. I just can't see NoE selling 1000 Wii points for less than 4000 Stars... I can see NoE limiting the amount you can buy, too.
Ginger_Chris Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 1 game = 250 stars ~ £25 1000 points = £7.50 assume they work on a 5% reward system, which isn't unreasonable and is in-line with most companies reward schemes. You spend £150 to get £7.50 back. £150 ~ 12 games = 3000 stars. So I recon about a 3 to 1 conversion rate. 1000 points = 3000 stars. Maybe drop it to 2500 because of how few points you get with a console. 4000 is a little harsh, 2000 isn't very good business sense.

Yep...have to agree, definitly think they will limit them as well, otherwise people like ourselves who have reams of points saved up will just milk it and get so many points we won't need to buy any for ages. Virtual Console is so far a hugely successful business model (despite Miyamoto saying it was meant to give something back to the fans) they won't to unbalance it too severely...

IMJ Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Yeah, it's so annoying. They've been saying the Wii Points are coming soon ever since the beginning of this year. That's a freaking 6 months! I doubt we'll get it this year. And IF we did, they probably just add 200 Wii Points card which are long gone when you notice them... Oh and by then, all my Stars have become invalid...
