Hellfire Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I heard it, they did say as casual as possible, whatever that means I don't know, it's probably about simple controls.
darksnowman Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Hellfire I'm only speculating, I have no idea why it wasn't mentioned in that article you read. And Pedro, I haven't an IGN account either but you don't need one for to get the podcasts- you just have to go their site and download em or get em via iTunes. No signage uppage is involved.
James McGeachie Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 As I said though, "as casual as possible" doesn't mean it's targeted mostly at casuals like it obviously came out outlined, just that they're also part of the target public. Yeah but it's like in the Wii mote section he mentions that when making a "very very casual" game the first step is removing the nunchuk. He wasn't even asked anything about casual games or anything of the sort, the question was just about using the nunchuk or not, so it was sort of a random thing to bring up.
david.dakota Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 so, its valentines day... where are IGN's exposé on the promised 'dark games'? Its about lunchtime, in LA isnt it?
dazzybee Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 They usually update at about midnight our time. They're blatantly just going to mention THQ's new game that was unveiled this morning, meaning they've completely missed the boat on an exclusive!
david.dakota Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 I, just like IGN, have missed this announcement.

pedrocasilva Posted February 16, 2008 Author Posted February 16, 2008 -not one of those "dark games"-dark game w/o publisher to be revealed AFTER GDC, due to being swamped by GDC So... didn't they say this on their previous podcast? Coming Soon this week/ Valentine's day: - Cool story coming next week about publishers/developers having trouble selling an adult style game on Wii. Piece should be enlightening and interesting to a lot of people. Can't comment on what game its about, but the developer will come on a podcast about the game and they will show the game. Since they are having a difficult time getting a publisher. Bozon likes this kind of feature a lot more than his issuing out PR. Should be a look at the world beyond PR, reviews, media and Press releases. -On Valentine's day they will be unveiling some games that are darker in nature. (Yes, plural) Turns out not even Deadly Creatures was it. And thus, what seemed to be a game from the "plural" promised... wasn't and thus... they totally failed to deliver anything.
david.dakota Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 once again, nothing really said in the Matty and Marko show.
darksnowman Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Turns out not even Deadly Creatures was it. And thus, what seemed to be a game from the "plural" promised... wasn't and thus... they totally failed to deliver anything. Listenin to it now. During the second minute they say that Deadly Creatures is obviously the game they had info on for Valentines day and the other one is still looking for a publisher. : peace:
pedrocasilva Posted February 16, 2008 Author Posted February 16, 2008 Listenin to it now. During the second minute they say that Deadly Creatures is obviously the game they had info on for Valentines day and the other one is still looking for a publisher. : peace:they promised two though, and I understood the one from GDC was another one, since it was already postponed from valentines. (so... 3?) But fair enough.

House of the Dead 2 - Basically two ports put together, but looks better - $29.99 - Gun calibration is good - New feature: will talk about it next week Sega Superstars Tennis - Game looks very good, but slows down for some mini-games - Essentially Virtua Tennis with Sega characters - DS version isn’t as elaborate - No online for both Wii and DS versions - People can play with different controls against each other Ninja Gaiden DS - Craig doesn’t think it’ll do well (sales) - Craig loves it so far - played training level - Comfortable to hold as book setup Mario Kart - Not a pretty game: Craig, Bland look - Matt - Fun - comparable to DS version - Craig only played it for 10 minutes, feels there is a bit of a learning curve for Wiimote - Control feels loser than Excite Truck - Speed - very fast - 60 FPS. Like Kirby Canvas Curse - Disc-based mini-games will have competition from WiiWare - Tom Prata said WiiWare game releases will be like Virtual Console, Reggie said tons could release - Craig was surprised about Commodore 64 Reader questions - Voice chat coming, hopefully will happen in near future (E3?) -> Improved online system for pay - Wiimote + Nunchuck MKWii setup (guess) - analog stick = steering, A+B = accel/brake, power-slide = Z, D-pad = items - FFCC (not WiiWare project) - not canceled, in development - Nintendo will be one of the last to get into head-tracking, if at all - Mario Kart will be released later than Europe (we get Brawl first) - Mario Kart graphics looked like it came from Nintendo’s B-team - Storage: Something has to happen later - SD card or hard drive - Craig will reveal DS game that people don’t know about soon (hopefully) - No REAL hockey game for Wii yet - Games can take advantage of other Wii channels - Red Steel 2 was given to another team - Okami version Matt has bars, doesn’t have filter - Matt thinks some storage option coming because of downloadable content
Fandango Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 - Matt talked to Reggie during a lunch event about hard drive at E3 - Reggie said “Eh…We’ll see†Bloom Blox - Has head-tracking 3DV -> Z-camera - Camera you set up below TV - Grabs locks on head, fingerpoints, etc - IR camera to see 3D image - Might be basis for Wii2 or PS4 - Can set cut off point for no interference - Voice chat coming, hopefully will happen in near future (E3?) -> Improved online system for pay The stuff I've highlighted above I find particularly interesting, pretty good one this week I must say.
Owen Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 I said that Animal Crossing might use the Pay to Play service and they think so too! Lets hope we're all wrong. lol. Still Downloadable Content for AC is a given, really...
Noku Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 I couldn't give a flying donkey's arse about head tracking. Is it me, or are updates, about Wii exclusives being revealed, less and less frequent?
Cube Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 I couldn't give a flying donkey's arse about head tracking. Is it me, or are updates, about Wii exclusives being revealed, less and less frequent? It's not just you. Then again, hardly any big games for anything have been announced recently.
Fandango Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 It's not just you. Then again, hardly any big games for anything have been announced recently. Gears of War 2
Noku Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Gears of War 2 Wacky as I am, I find GoW to be absolute crap Even if it appeared on Ninty consoles, I'd leave it alone. I'm craving for Mafia 2 to appear on the Wii, as well as Red Faction 3...
LazyBoy Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Honestly I don't know what's going on over at Nintendo HQ because I see nothing on the horizon. There has got to be some big stuff under the covers.
M-PG71C Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 They are keeping things under cover, they want to make a splash when appropriate. You don't reveal new products until your killer apps (Brawl, Wii Fit, and MK in specfic) are out on the market actively. Otherwise, you kill off your potential sales and that is no good for business. I am more than confident that by E3, we'll see tons of games being announced and would hit as soon as Fall.
McMad Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 I am more than confident that by E3, we'll see tons of games being announced and would hit as soon as Fall. I hoped for the same as you last E3. Then nothing happened. well except Mario Kart

I am more than confident that by E3, we'll see tons of games being announced and would hit as soon as Fall. I agree with you, it makes sense to hype up the upcoming releases but all the games you've mentioned are nearly out (in like a month or so) in at least one market (Japanese, European, American). I would prefer to get some news on at least on Big Nintendo title for Q3/Q4 08. I'm not getting my hopes up for E3 at all.
Cube Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 I hoped for the same as you last E3. Then nothing happened. well except Mario Kart But last year was already pretty busy (then NoE delayed half the games)
