spirited away Posted April 16, 2007 Author Posted April 16, 2007 James Blunt - Beautiful - fills me with hatred.
Zell Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 By emotional, does that mean soppy? I can think of many emotional songs that aren't soppy, such as Metallica's "One", very moving.
The Bard Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Yeah, songs like "One" and "Fade To Black." But there are many songs that are emotional to me, not because of the words or whatever, but just because of the effect of the music. Everything by Yasunori Mitsuda. Also: I can go the distance! Awesome song from Hercules
Nintendinosaur Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Fade Out (Street Spirit) by Radiohead. its just one of them spine-tingling songs.
Problematique Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Oooh god. Prepare for big list: Sigur Rós - loads of stuff here...Ny Batteri on Agaetis Byrjun is really quite special. Just about the whole of the () album is fantastically emotional, especially the darker second half. It culminates in Untitled VIII (also known as Popplagið) which is a beautiful, soaring climax. Awesome. Radiohead - again, loads of stuff. My "highlight" here would be Exit Music for a Film. Muse - a few songs here, most notably Showbiz and Con-Science (old B-side). Not so much emotion recently though :/ disappointing. Placebo - My Sweet Prince. Check it. Eerie... Hope of the States - Me Ves y Sufres takes the biscuit here, there are tons of emotional HotS songs. My other favourite would be Static in the Cities (which is also my favourite of their stuff).
Shorty Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Yeah so some of these are kind of emo, but wasn't that to be expected with the subject matter? Songs with stars are particularly awesome. Stocka Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 If only i could speak japanese. If you're open minded enough you can enjoy jrock/jpop without needing to understand the lyrics. Not knowing the lyrics really doesn't bother me at all.

McMad Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Well remembered Shorty, Aeris' Theme (and the Overworld Theme) are very sad tunes, I remember them making me feel really empty one time I was listening to them.
Tellyn Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Fields of Gold - Sting Fix You - Coldplay Always make me feel quite sad.
Strider Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Iron Maiden - The Clansman (Bruces version) Both eerie and exciting. Queen - These are the days of our lives - Sad song
Rummy Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Alot of drum and bass(two good ones being (wait for it to kick in proper) and Fasten Your Seatbelts and by Pendulum) gets me feeling proper pumped up. Soca and Dancehall music tends to get me in a party mood too.IFirst off: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brRsRTTp1Pw - Kamakawiwo ole somewhere over the rainbow - This song makes me feel really hopeful/reflective and at the same time sparks a little sadness. The most Beautiful song imo. I agree with that feeling. Good song. Alot of songs from when I was like 12-18 get me in a bit of a mixed feeling mood, kind of sad the days are gone but kind of happy for what they were. Of course, that's a personal thing and wouldn't apply to too many of you gets me feeling kind of, I dunno. It's a weird feeling, I guess it's a bit of spillage of the feeling of nostalgia I just mentioned. makes me feel sad, but not for myself kind of thing, sort of for everyone in the world?I recommend highly Empty Corridors by Luke Pickett, it's a song that just makes me feel...I dunno, it's just a kind of beautiful sounding song. It makes me feel like theres alot more out there? The myspace is here though it says it's down for maintainence now. (EDIT:You'll have to excuse the videos in some cases, I just got anything that had the song playng despite not having any relation to the song)
Letty Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Dir en Grey, Jealous -reverse- (not the normal version of Jealous) It makes me very sad.
Fierce_LiNk Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 U2 - With or Without You This mother knows where it's at! I have a lot of songs that I listen to when I feel a bit down. I let the songs do the crying, so I don't have to...it's strange, I know. But, music can be such a strong outlet. It can be haunting, as well as something to dance to. Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees, No Surprises, and True Love Waits are three songs which I have listened to so much during the last few years. Whenever I feel like shit, these songs are like the unintentional shoulder to cry on. I love these songs. Bloc Party - So Here We Are, I Still Remember, SRXT. If I was in a soap or a film, and I took an overdose or died suddenly (but slowly), I want So here we are to be the song in the background. It's sorta one of these songs where everything just becomes so clear, like you've just discovered the meaning of life. "I figured it out I Can See Again." Whenever that bit comes on in the song, after the interlude, I always start to well up, and the hairs on my neck stand. Probably one of the most powerful songs I've ever listened to. Oasis - (too many to name, but here's a few) Slide Away, Stand by Me, Sunday Morning Call. Slide Away is another one of these "everything suddenly became so clear" songs. Sometimes, as a kid, I used to listen to this and just snuggled underneath a blanket. Amazing song. Stand by me is a song which kinda sums up my feelings at the moment. I want somebody to just hold me and tell me everything will be ok. Another one which I hold dear to my heart is Ben E. King - Stand by me The ultimate version of any of the other songs by the same name. "I won't cry I won't cry No I won't Shed a tear. Just as long As you stand Stand by me." :'(
