My god, that song is truly wonderful.

:weep:

Mmm, yes it is!

I almost posted the one with shots from Narnia: Prince Caspian (since this song is from that movie), but I figured not everyone would enjoy seeing the (sexy/cute) faces of some of the actors/actresses in it. =P

On a similar note, Battles offer a kind of intense, structurally surreal take on math/dance rock that really takes you over. It's not the easiest of material but it really, really gets inside your head and takes your mind to a very, very special place.

I really can't wait to see Battles live, though I am wondering what the rest of the crowd are going to be like.

2 days left till T In The Park (well for me, we are going on the thursday) and its only now I've started to get pumped.

Probably should post in the T thread...

I also can't recommend LCD Soundsystem highly enough: Their Sound of Silver LP is a melancholy, wistful salute to culture and old friends since gone, beautifully strung together with some of the best ambient rock I've ever heard.

Yes!

All My Friends...what a song. I heard it in a bar once and just stopped what I was doing, which was breathing, and listened to it. Such a chooon.

Thought I might as well give something back, as it were, so this is 'To Build A Home' by The Cinematic Orchestra. It's the song that spawned the Loneliness thread. No, wait, come back!

That isn't the official video, just the first one I came across whilst searching the 'Tube. Still, it's rather nice.

Umm, and thats his opinion. He never said "I know for a fact it isn't" did he?

Yeah, but there wasn't really a purpose to his post either actually. *shrugs*

I like the song you posted Aimless. =)

To be honest, The Call is Regina's absolute worst song ever. It just looks lyrics-wise like it was a rushed number she forgot she was paid to do, or at least wasn't inspired be.

Also, I'd expect Disney wanted something that was "pretty", rather than using her powerful voice/intelligent writing.

I heard it in the film (rubbish, btw), and after being intially excited that it was here, was very dissapointed.

I'm listening to 11 : 11 in protest against it's crapness.

(That said, the way she sings it is quite sad)

There's a nice section at the end of my itunes of poorly tagged songs which are awesome:

Sugar Hill Gang - Rapper's Delight

The Temptations - Pappa Was a Rolling Stone

Van Morisson - Brown Eyed Girl

Classics. 24 minutes of awesome.

And 'The Call' was alright. Still have a soft spot for 'Fidelity'. What film was it in?

Not sure which you're referring to, but The Call was in Narnia: Prince Crapian and Fidelity I think has been used in a few films/trailers.

And I like that song, Aimless.

Oh, whoops, I forgot again - in this thread, there is no opinion; only fact!

wow. relax, hombre.

Umm, and thats his opinion. He never said "I know for a fact it isn't" did he?

because he's right.

Seriously though, Spektor's done much better. I think she's a great vocalist and song writer but that's just not a great example.

oh, and for a truly beautiful song? observe
