Platty Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 The UK Government are trying to bring in a liscensing law to prohibite small venues having live musicians. If it happens our small venues will be forced to either, pay to hold gigs or not have any live performers at all. Smaller local bands and even big bands who like playing small surprise gigs in small venues like the babyshambles etc will all suffer so please sign this petition: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/licensing/ Yet another one to sign and I feel it's just as worthy as the road tax one a few weeks ago. So come on guys get to it and spread the word.
mariosmentor Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 That seems pointless. Whats the govermanets reseasons for it? Wars going on half way across the world while the goverment attacks small music scene. Crazy.
gaggle64 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Now this I will sign. Though I mistrust the vocal power of these officially sanctioned petitions.
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I'll sign it. This is really fucking stupid.
Samdecahedron Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Signed. What a pointless law to bring in.
Fierce_LiNk Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Signed. That is really messed up! I don't see the point in that at all, expect to maybe get extra money from this. Pretty crappy.
weeyellowbloke Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 What the hell. This is such a stupid idea. What harm are small pubs and clubs doing by hosting gigs for local bands? Signed.
Guest Stefkov Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I'm signing it because I dont see why they need to ban such a thing. Swords I understand their ideas but live music gigs?

ShadowV7 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 This another stupid law from the government, what's this gonna do to anyone apart from annoy people? Signed.
gaggle64 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 EDIT:Is the e-petition system getting a bit out of hand?http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/goldanthem/ Y'see, that's why we should probably back this up with a few letters or something.
Fields Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I just wonder if any of you have researched the facts about this 'stupid new law', which according to the petition is alrady in place (funny how no one noticed it until they saw this thread, eh?). I am willing to bet that: 1. It is not as simple as this thread and the reaction suggests 2. It is not the musical apocalypse that you're making it out to be 3. Nothing will be done about it anyway. Is the e-petition system getting a bit out of hand? Yes.
gaggle64 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Having a particularly productive afternoon are you Fields?
Been Insane Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 In other words, "The UK government are looking for even more ways to make and waste your money.First we will charge people even more for driving, Then we will focus on taking money from music venues. We will have a new tax for you next week " Signed
The Bard Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I just got my whole family to sign. What a crock of shit. Trying to ban venues like Music Box and Satans Hollow is just not something I can allow to happen.
The fish Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Signed, not because I go to many gigs, but because it's a totaly fucking stupid piece of regulations...
