mcj metroid Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I think that Ea are easily the greatest third party publisher on the wii so far.People are too blind by their ubisoft love to realise this. according to a preview from wii uk SSX Blur - SSX Blur is easily one of the best looking games I’ve seen on the Wii so far, and it gives you more of an idea of what the system is actually capable of. Everything is rendered with great clarity, and the characters seem to have some kind of pseudo-anti-aliasing effect that makes them look immensely detailed and layered. It’s really good to see a developer actually bothering to go some way towards pushing the hardware, and it’s to EA’s credit that they’ve managed to make the whole lot chug along at a consistent, playable frame rate, even in this early build of the game that we got our hands on. and tiger woods is shaping up nicely All their games look great and control great(maybe except godfather).I used to hate Ea but they have really picked up lately. Its the publishers we love that are letting us down.Capcom,sega,ubisoft........also atari has published dragon ball which was received well. what do you think?
blender Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I think their process of software development suits the wii and innovation. i.e. a team dedicated to HCI, while others graphics etc. Yes EA are the greatest. Cant wait for Fight night and burnout. They held back from releasing gamecube games in the dying days. So lets release hell. I rememeber how smug Ubisoft were becuase they had made lots of cash by backing the wii from launch with utter shite games... but EA need to givem hell with some quality efforts not rushed out. I look forward to the day that EA release their own console (DreamcastEA 2) . Let it be known that I was the original EA fanboy from this point forth and probably the only one.
Hellfire Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 EA have a developer studio just for that and I respect that.
BlueStar Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 None of those games interest me and I'm sick of them regurgitating the same shite year after year. Sorry, but it's true... It's in the game (You bought last year)
Shino Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 They're improving, I really like BF2 and BF2142 (even its the worst coded game EVER), and am really looking forward to C&C3. But they're still a little too capitalist for my tastes.
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Or we should not trust Wii UK? I havent heard anyone else commenting the graphics in SSX Blur quite like that. Im just asking.
4q2 Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 In all honesty, I never really hated EA....They supported the GC with more titles than the average 3rd party. They gave me many hours fun with SSX Tricky and SSX3 and I respect them for those titles alone. They have continued to show support with SSX Blur for Wii, and no doubt have a bagfull of other stuff for the future. Maybe some of the future titles will be mediocre, but if they manage to produce a few games that make a worthy purchase for me I have no complaint. If they boost the Wii's sales with some of the mediocre titles, I have no complaint. The only thing I have reservations about atm is the art style of the new SSX characters, and the seemingly non-existant and dumped Marisol. (Its a personal thing, but my view will most likely change when I purchase the game)
BlueStar Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Something about SSX just grates for me - I think it's the way the edgy and xtr333meee characters and art style just seems really cynical and self concious, as if it was created at a board meeting of men in grey suits saying "What do kids like nowadays? They say stuff like radical don't they. And piercings, they're radical. And the black guy should breakdance! Radical."

They say stuff like radical don't they. And piercings, they're radical. And the black guy should breakdance! Radical." I can see that POV, and its most likely accurate. SSX Tricky for me was not an intentional thing, I rented it out of boredom and the next thing I knew I was addicted and purchased it. Loved the way it controlled and pulling off the moves were second nature after a few goes....I rembember for the first month raising the joypad in the air one handed constantly after pulling off some "Sick" (i believe thats the yooth terminology ) Uber-combo. The game was a rush... I hunted that same experience with Tony Hawks and even Kelly Slaters Pro Surfing, and none could match it for me until SSX3. The Soundtracks always seemed well fitting as well.
ShadowV7 Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I don't really like EA games and as previously mentioned, same thing just about every year. But they will bring in people to the Wii with there games though which is always a great thing.
Dyson Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 They're improving, I really like BF2 and BF2142 (even its the worst coded game EVER), and am really looking forward to C&C3. Me too. I really enjoy them both, and look forward to EA's next offerings. I don't see what everyone has against them (With the exception of the annual sports games).
Jasper Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I didn't like EA before, but right now their games are shaping up to go in an entirely new direction. Japanese influence has made EA a better company, since SimsWii and SSX Blur looks like ace with the Japanese style. But previously, you could buy the entire EA collection of games in the bargain bin if they were a year old, and you wouldn't have to pay as much as you'de do for the recent edition - whilst playing almost the exact same game. Minor tweaks just don't cut it, so if you want to play FIFA, buy an old game - it's the same experience, and it's cheaper. There you have it.
DCK Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Yeah, at the moment EA deserves more credit than Ubisoft in my humble opinion. SSX Blur is my next Wii game.
Dante Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Yeah, at the moment EA deserves more credit than Ubisoft in my humble opinion. SSX Blur is my next Wii game. same here DCK.
Fierce_LiNk Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 I've always thought people were a bit harsh on EA. Sure, FIFA always gets a yearly update, but it's always been that way. They make money off it, the games themselves are far from terrible, so why slate them for it? I think they should be applauded for their Wii support. SSX blur is a definite purchase for me, and I really love how they've implemented the controls. The Godfather may be a PS2 port, but they are putting some thought into the Wii controls, so that is something. At least they're not porting it and using the damn classic controller. They are trying to use the Wii's unique feature, the controller, so credit to them.
blender Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 We can hate them when "SSX Blur On Tour 2012 Road to the Olympics Tricky" is out.
Rummy Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 Jesus, is there something wrong with me? Every time I see SSX in this thread, I read it as sex, I just read it like 30 times already! Looks like it's true what they say about men. Anyway, I have harboured a slight secret hate for EA, I think it was due to hearing about them treating their employees a bit harshly a few years back now, and partly for their sort of generic game styles and constant remakes and money grabbing(sports games and exclusive servers for online). They weren't very console exclusive neither, just porting and porting. However, I do own a few EA games and have to say they have been pretty darn good, they seem to have a decent length to them which I like to look for in my games. Def Jam FFNY for example, my first game on xbox and thoroughly played by me too. They also helped bring us the fantastic TimeSplitters 3, N4SU2(another I bought), and also the Burnout Series, which I first played as a demo on N4SU then bought Revenge as my first game recently. In fact, they are pretty decent developers, but I dunno how well they've done for Wii. I think the fact I don't know this probably somehow reflects their efforts maybe?
Emasher Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 i think we should respect EA Never! lets just say i've had a bad experience with their software
Guest Jordan Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 No, EA do not when it comes to raking the cash in. Its horrible on the 360, they make you pay £50 for a game then you have to buy all the extra content that doesn't come with current gen but does with last gen.
Zechs Merquise Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 Well, I agree. At least EA polish their products, Ubisoft want to ultimely take their place, but they haven't a clue. EA may over use licenses, they may churn out games with improved stats as the main feature, but those games do play well, and they do look good, and you can see effort has been put in. Yeah, they don;t feel magic like a Nintendo game, but they do feel solid. I'd rather Ubisoft hadn't shown the level of support they did for the Wii, but instead put out the games a while later and got them all right.

raven_blade2006 Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 Respect has to be earned. EA are starting to do just that for the Wii. Kudos to them.
fanman Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 I for one just can't stand any of the yearly remakes of EVERY games they have. They're supporting the wii, so fucking what, they support every console ever anyway... even the gizmondo.
darksnowman Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 EA are getting on track. For the Cube I have SSX 3 and On Tour as well as Fifa 04. I think thats it, SSX games are really good and the Wii one should be great fun. I still expect the yearly updates, but they deserve respect for holding off their Wii games so far and trying to get them made right. Maybe more than just a few of the titles will turn out to be must haves!
Speedfreak Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 EA is actually a great developer, they've always managed to get a lot of power out of every system when they actually bothered, and when left to their own devices they make awesome games. The problem is the decision makers are all tossers that tell them to ruin franchises, churn out FIFA and shut down game servers once a sequel comes out.
