Tellyn Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Oh bugger it, I forgot it was on. Any repeats?
Adrian DX Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Dubbed? Well that sucks, NRK2 (norwegian station) aired it with subs last year, I recorded it. but I still haven't seen it =/ I should get the Gibli DVD Box collection or something and watch em' all
The Peeps Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Very strange film... I enjoyed it but... it was just strange
demonmike04 Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 I agree, strange film. Its good, but nothing special. The art is without a doubt fantastic.
spirited away Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Great film, extremley quirky though :P
Dante Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Didnt Paper Mario 2 have eastereggs to Spirited Away?
Stocka Posted December 30, 2006 Author Posted December 30, 2006 I agree, strange film. Its good, but nothing special. The art is without a doubt fantastic. Sums up how I feel. It was impressive and such but it didn't really grip me like I was hoping it would.
ShadowV7 Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 I quite enjoyed it,different from what I thought it was gonna be.
Supergrunch Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 My favourite Miyazaki film is Princess Mononoke, but I think Spirited Away is good too. However, it's perhaps a little too confusing...
Happenstance Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 I love Spirited Away, its the movie that brought me back into anime. My mate forced me to watch it one day and I was just blown away by it but honestly I couldnt figure out why.
DanielTimothy Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 My favourite Miyazaki film is Princess Mononoke, but I think Spirited Away is good too. However, it's perhaps a little too confusing... I was just about to say that. Princess Mononoke is alot darker, It kept me gripped more than Sprited Away. Princess Mononoke > Sprited Away > Howls Moving Castle.
Happenstance Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Yeah Princess Mononoke is very good, oddly enough im just watching Porco Rosso at the moment as I bought it along with Howls Moving Castle in the sales
DanielTimothy Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Whats the one about the cats called? Is that a Miyazaki? Or am I talking bollocks?
Happenstance Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Possibly The Cat Returns, I havent seen it yet though
Dark Wolf Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 It could also be Kiki's Delivery Service.
Supergrunch Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Whats the one about the cats called? Is that a Miyazaki? Or am I talking bollocks? Are you thinking of Cat Soup? That definitely isn't Miyazaki.
DanielTimothy Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 It had a cat in it . . with a suit on . . that used a cane as a weapon. Anime is strange huh?
Supergrunch Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Here's a bit from Cat Soup. It's definitely very strange, but isn't really anime. In fact, if we are to listen to the man himself, neither is Miyazaki.
DanielTimothy Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 I have to say Cat Soup is quite honestly the most messed up thing I've seen today.
Shorty Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Personally I never got what the fuss was about with this movie. I'm an anime fan, but not into Ghibli that much. There's no doubt it's a cool looking movie but 1) I've seen better anime art and 2) the story is stupid.

There's no doubt it's a cool looking movie but 1) I've seen better anime art and 2) the story is stupid. Yeah I agree, and with films it's always the story which is the most important aspect for me.
weeyellowbloke Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 It had a cat in it . . with a suit on . . that used a cane as a weapon. Anime is strange huh? That's The Cat Returns or Neko No Ongaeshi. It's not a Miyazaki but is from Studio Ghibli. It's not a bad film, but then I don't think any Studio Ghibli films are. My favourite though has to be My Neighbour Totoro, it has the fantasy elements of the likes of Spirited Away and Howls Moving Castle, but also seems quite grounded in reality.
EEVILMURRAY Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 I was watching bits of it during the commercial breaks when watching Muppet's Wizard Of Oz on Five. Have it on DVD anyways.
demonmike04 Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 The thing that pissed me off was at the end, were 'Grandma' sent them off and just randomly said "No face you stay here". Like what the fuck, thats like a quickey solution, terrible story telling. Kinda reminds me of star wars episode III, were the chicks giving birth at the end. ITS A --- Call him luke! ITS A --- Call her leila! Seriously, who decides what they are gonna name their kid the second their fresh out the vagina? And was she expecting twins? Gah, I hate quick solutions.
bob Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Have it on DVD anyways. Post it in the 'Post your dvd collection' thread bitches!!!!
