arab_freak Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/TV/12/18/barbera.ap/index.html "Joe Barbera, half of the Hanna-Barbera animation team that produced such beloved cartoon characters as Tom and Jerry, Yogi Bear and the Flintstones, died Monday, a Warner Bros. spokesman said. He was 95." 95? He's had one hell of a life!
Roostophe Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 In the words of Thomas the Cat: AAAAAGGGGHHHHHHHH!!! R.I.P. I still love Tom And Jerry.
Blackfox Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Read this early this morning and was a little saddened. Think of some of the best early cartoons made, and he probably helped make them. Rest in Piece.
Monopolyman Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 I always thought he was dead for some time, but as he had just died now, it is still a bit sad. R.I.P. The Flintstones was cool
The3rdChildren Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 What a wonderful life Joe led, bringing such wonderful ideas and characters to life in animation. He'll be missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace, man.
AshMat Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 I thought these guys were 50 or something.. :S Rest In Peace
triforce_keeper Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Rest in peace. Ah the good Tom and Jerry days
MoogleViper Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Rest in Peace. I knew he was old but I didn't realise that he was 95. PS: Can we refrain from making jokes please. I'd hate to see this turned into another Steve Irwin thread.
AshMat Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 So we can't say he died throuh any Tom and jerry methods?
MoogleViper Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 So we can't say he died throuh any Tom and jerry methods? If it's distasteful then no.
EchoDesiato Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Sad news. He was responsible for many of my saturday mornings in front of the tube when I was a little kid. R.I.P.
Stocka Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 R.I.P Lived a great life and achieved great things. Thanks for the happiness you've created
*Dalco* Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 i thought he had already been dead for a while but 95 wow thats a long life. sad loss as i still find myself watching there cartoons on boomerang
EEVILMURRAY Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 PS: Can we refrain from making jokes please. Sounds fair. Rest in Piece. Holy shit kids. Spot the irony.
weeyellowbloke Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 He created Tom and Jerry and therefore gets my absolute respect. He seems to have led a pretty awesome life, doing a great job and had pretty good innings, which makes me admire him all the more.
Dan_Dare Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Guy was a legend. made my childhood he did
Max Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 did he not also make flinstones as well or am i mistaken?
Platty Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 did he not also make flinstones as well or am i mistaken? He did yes.
fanman Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 And Yogi Bear, it says at the top. The Flinstones were never as good as tom and jerry, although I did like them too.
solitanze Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Great cartoons, ahead of their time, watch them all the time on PAY TV. The Flintstones was the Barberas crowning achievement, longest running cartoon ever until the Simpsons surpassed it. The Jetsons doesn't look a cartoon that was produced over 40 years ago...
Rummy Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Well, all I can say is that this guy brought me alot of my childhood enjoyment, I pretty much lived off HB cartoons, they were pretty much all that was shown! I remember the little swirling star at the end too lol. Glad to hear he had a nice long life though.
Hellfire Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Great guy and he'll live on in those cartoons. Rest in peace.
