It’s done! Firstly this nice man removed my radiator: Capped off the pipes: Left this lovely blank wall: Then this nice young man came to fit the TV: Woohoo! Sooooo thin: Passed the Cars test: Just need to get something to go under the TV and to clean up the holes/marks from everything. So nice to finally have a decent TV again.

That looks great, @MindFreak! We had that damn radiator removed today and I have the TV installers coming over tomorrow to quote to sort out the TV for me. They’ll do the work immediately if I’m OK with the quote so, with a bit of luck, this time tomorrow I’ll finally be able to play some video games for the first time in months.

So the move went extremely smoothly in the end. It was a super busy day of things being delivered and trying to get everything in a decent enough position before I went away for the week. Since then we’ve been slowly picking up a few bits and pieces and making lists of things that need to be sorted out. Overall I’m REALLY glad we went with the new build. The issues are minimal and there is nothing that really causes us a big issue. Probably the biggest one so far is a bit of a bubble under the hallway floor. Having all new stuff and a fresh feeling to everything is also really nice. The insulation is also insanely good. When I was staying with my parents/sister we’d have the heating on to just about get comfortable and then we’d feel cold less than an hour later. Here we lose barely anything and it’s never got cold enough to feel even slightly uncomfortable. Now I have a week to try and get some things done before my next trip. Probably won’t manage much but with a bit of luck I can plan for a few things to happen while I’m away.

Did some test fitting for the TV with all the junk mail we had waiting for us. This was the 65 inch which was way too big so we've gone with the 55 inch instead. The radiator will be removed and the TV put a little lower than it is in this picture.

Got an LG G1 OLED TV for our new place. Comes on Friday but will need to wait a while to get it installed properly. Can’t wait to finally have a decent TV again.

Really enjoyable race today. Good battles and nice to see Ferrari on top again. Mercedes were pretty luck to get where they did, reckon they’ll be behind for a fair while but will be rapid towards the end of the season when they figure the car out. Based on that race this year is shaping up to be a good one.

Everything seems to be moving ahead as planned for us and we'll be moving in tomorrow! Bit stressful today trying to get all our stuff ready but very excited to finally be getting in there. Just a few things left to do this afternoon and we'll be all ready.

Oooh yeah, those are both really nice! I do love a nice big wooden desk, I'm not sure what I'd do with all of that space. Is your plan to have one side of it as a workstation and the other for something else?

I’m definitely IN, but unfortunately will miss the next two weeks due to moving house and a business trip.

I went with a local broker recommended by my sister. They took the fee from the bank side so cost me nothing, and although I could have applied online myself they by far made themselves worthwhile by being the only reliable person I’ve dealt with in the whole buying process. Have been happy to jump on a call with me at any time to run me through how everything works or talk me through the paperwork. I’d really recommend going with someone if you can.

Sorry to hear that, @Cookyman. How did today’s operation go? Hope it’s the start of a full recovery.

I remember looking at it towards the end of the season and I know that I definitely did terribly. It doesn’t look like they keep the results as the link no longer works. I’ll aim to keep up with it a bit better this year so we don’t lose the results.

So we’ve started the huge spend on furniture. First up is the dining room bits, ordered the following from John Lewis: Table: Two of these chairs: And two with lower sides: Then a bench to finish it off: All seems really nice and I think will fit in really well with the apartment. Should be delivered the day we move on so fingers crossed on the timings all working out.

That’s terrible, @CrowingJoe79. Glad it seems she is improving, must have been really tough to hear about it later than you’d have wanted. Hope she makes a swift and full recovery.

We have a date! March 18th we do all the inspections, complete, and move in. Shouldn’t be anything to stop that, but it’s just a pain it’s the day before I fly out the San Francisco so won’t actually get to enjoy it too much. Super excited to actually have something moving forward though!

Shocking! Seemed like Neighbours is something that would never go away. I haven’t watched it for about 15 years but still sad its going.

Which one has he got and what do you think of it? I’ve been thinking of getting a Fanatec wheel at some point in the future.

We exchanged contracts today! Things move forward but at a snails pace, we now have to wait three weeks (at least) to do a pre-completion inspection. I wouldn’t mind so much if there was some reason for it being three weeks away but it seems to just be when they can bother to schedule us in. They wanted to book it in for the end of March which co-insides with GDC and then I’m away on other business for a few weeks. All in all, if they can’t arrange the inspection earlier than they currently think, we won’t be moving in until the end of April.

There’s not going to be much to do for us given we’re buying a new build. Probably the main thing will be sorting out a few stupid design points in the main room. For a start, there is a radiator in the only place you can realistically mount a TV so we’ll have to get that moved. Secondly, they’ve put all of the TV points at what we think is the wrong side of the room where we’d rather have our dining area, so we’ll need to have those re-routed to the other side of the room. Other than that I don’t think we’ll do much other than getting furniture in there, I’ll be sure to post updates as we go about it though!
