Right! Guys, time for round 3 of FE localisation Miiverse bitching requests!
-
That's a bloody amazing deal! I'm not even that interested in SMT4 but I'd definately pick it up if we were offered an equivalent deal!
-
??? This article is bollocks. Iwata never said this in the latest investor Q&A (which that site claims to be its source) http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/stock/meeting/130627qa/04.html Misquoting and distorting words from Nintendo staff is commonplace, but outright lying and making stuff up? That's a new one! ALWAYS READ THE ORIGINAL SOURCE!!!

That won't work, you need to do a system transfe. That will transfer the game and all of your system data (Miis, Streepass data etc) across to the 3DS XL. After you've gone through that process, you just need to copy/paste the data over to the new 4GB SD Card using your PC (just copy/paste the entire contents over to the root folder).

NoA denies streaming of Smash Bros Melee at EVO 2013
Dcubed replied to Ville's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Supposedly, according to what people have heard from EVO's customer service, the reason why this all happened in the first place is because EVO didn't notify Nintendo of their intention to stream, nor did they fill out any of Nintendo's paperwork. Considering how fast the problem got sorted, I reckon there's a decent chance of it being true. Amazing how quickly and easily things can get blown way out of proportion -
Miyamoto Talks Zelda, Pikmin, WiiU, Future IP's, Metroid....
Dcubed replied to Murr's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Funny, he uses the same CPU excuse as he did with NSMB Wii lacking online play. I don't see why he doesn't just tell the truth and admit that online latency is too big a hurdle for these games to really work online (LBP netcode for a NSMB game!? No thanks - likewise Pikmin having to keep track of 202 player's postitions in real time is a bit much; and no, it's not the same as a typical RTS because the characters can move on a dime, unlike say Starcraft where the game knows exactly where each unit is going to end up at any given moment) Telling the truth would actually look better for them than spouting this nonsense about their CPU not being powerful enough -
The hell!? My one didn't ship today! Explain yourselves Shopto!

Dumb video game logic that makes you laugh
Dcubed replied to Dcubed's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Better yet, get rid of one ant and replace it with a filing cabinet. After taking a few trips back and forth, you can now carry more than 100 whale shark with you at a time! -
No more Game Gear VC games!? Nooooooooooo!!!

Fairly good week all things considered... But yeah, what Hero of Time said...

Dumb video game logic that makes you laugh
Dcubed replied to Dcubed's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Oh god! That reminds me of Disaster Day of Crisis. That game is the KING of stupid nonsense logic! Pretty much everything in the entire game makes no sense whatsoever. From the conveniently timed disasters, to the dumbest group of terrorists who ever existed who kidnapped "her" for no real reason whatsoever, to Ray's disappointing voice whenever you press the button to look for injured survivors and dont find anyone, to the ability to OUTRUN A TSUNAMI ON FOOT! Also Ray apparently can obliterate steel boxes with his bare fists (upon which finding burgers and soda cans that are larger than his head). Oh but that's nothing compared to the GLORIOUS climax of the game... -
Just playing Zelda Oracle of Seasons again and I find myself once again running into people's houses, smashing pots and then talking to them as if nothing happened, laughing at the utter absurdity of the game's logic Deep down I'm pretty sure that everybody has laughed at least once at how stupid video game logic can be. So how's about a thread where we all point out how dumb games can be! Whether it's the fact that Mario can breath in space in Mario Galaxy, but not underwater!? Or the fact that he can swim underwater in Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels, but if he falls into it from above the water he dies! (BUH!?) Share your favourite bouts of dumb nonsense game logic!

Cinematic Presentation VS Focus on Gameplay
Dcubed replied to Serebii's topic in General Gaming Discussion
If you're gonna make a movie, don't call it a game. I have no problem with stuff like Heavy Rain, because it doesn't pretend to be something it is not. David Cage doesn't try to frame it as a movie disguised as an action game but stuff like Tomb Raider or Asura's Wrath, which are basically movies disguised as games that play themselves, are utterly cancerous to the entire concept of a video game. Likewise I have no problem with visual novel style games like Ace Attorney or Ghost Trick (hell I love those games!). It's when the developer/publisher lies to you and makes "games" with such a pathetically small amount of player agency that I can't stand the sight of it. -
If you had actually read the original source instead of this 2nd hand article, you would know that the “brand-new types of games” Iwata is referring to are all games that make use of the console's unique functionality in particular (asymmetric play, motion controls etc) Again if you had read the original source you would know why...
-
I just like how they went out of their way to acknowledge how Off TV Play doesn't change the way a game plays and that they have games in development that will make more use of the two screen setup/Miiverse etc. Steel Diver 2 will probably be one of them I bet. Miyamoto mentioned that this was coming out this fiscal year and of course that hasn't been announced yet (the ability to have a simultaneous above water and underwater view is a really obvious use for two screens that would certainly qualify as an all new experience that is immediately understandable to the layman... )

Lots of juicy info! Get it from the direct source and not from distorted second hand clickbait articles that chop up the Q&A to take stuff out of context for extra per-click ad revenue! http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/stock/meeting/130627qa/index.html Some choice exepts... So Nintendo do have games in development that are built around utilising the unique features of the Wii U (like assymettric play, motion control etc). It's just that they're focusing on getting out the typical "traditional" Nintendo titles in the short term in order to spur sales amongst the faithful and get retailers interested in stocking the console (they also admit that they were pandering with their E3 lineup and purposely focused heavily on sequels because that's what they felt that fans were wanting to see). So they claim that the problem wasn't really a matter of them not being able to properly develop for the hardware, but that it's just down to sheer manpower and that they're nearly out of that period... (I wonder what they're referring to with that... Collaborations?) A problem that I have commented on many times before. For loads of people, new franchises like Rhythm Heaven and Wii Sports "don't count" because they don't have a single representitive character like say, Mario or Pikmin. So the new Streetpass Plaza games took 1 year to develop and sold over 200,000 copies collectively in less than a week. Not bad! Iwata ain't resigning any time soon (as I predicted, his original quote in Japanese was taken out of context) They also go over Nintendo Web Framework in more detail (and how it has been in development for roughly 2 years), go over how they intend to deal with misleading and biased online web articles about Nintendo and a few other nice bits N' bobs that I'll leave you to discover on your own

Agreed. It's a small thing, but it added a lot of character and charm to the game that was sorely lacking in the 3DS game.

Nintendo Japan testing digital download discount
Dcubed replied to Aneres11's topic in Nintendo Gaming
That's the whole point of having those retail download cards in the first place. Problem is that NOE gave them exclusively to GAME in the UK (and NOA don't sell them anywhere anyway), so there's no competition in place... -
They could have him use a transformer adapter

Thanks to that latest Chotto Nintendo Direct, we know what Skip have been up to now! (Chibi Robo Photography) Also they announced Denpa Men 3, so go ahead and update Genius Sonority's list. Oh and there's an interview that gives us a few details about Monolith Kyoto! Sounds like they're more of a support studio (similar to 1up studio/Brownie Brown) than one that deals with fully fledged productions. Seems like a nice place to work for new graduates

Looks lovely! The AR usage is genius and fits in perfectly with the Chibi Robo universe Here's hoping that it's not long until we get it in the west!

Wii U Karaoke - Joysound - EU 2013. Free Download
Dcubed replied to madeinbeats's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Nice! This should've been available at launch like it was in Japan. Never did understand why on earth Nintendo bothered commissioning Sing Party, when they already had their own Wii U Kareoke game already -
Wow! You could not write this stuff! What a perfect choice of company Gives me flashbacks to how Krazy Ken left after the PS3 disaster...

SEGA does what Nintendont! Glad to see the Game Gear games continue! At this rate, it wont be long before the VC has more GG games than Gameboy ones! (actually, I think it has already surpassed GBC...) Edit: Just went to check and its actually true! There are 16 GG games on the VC and only 12 GBC titles! That really puts things into perspective!
