  1. It's definitely Majora's Mask 3D. OOT3D was announced exactly the same way, a day after the E3 2010 conference at a roundtable event for it...
  2. Yeah, my thoughts exactly. I don't understand this strategy at all; if it's just a matter of them trying to cover up the bad news from NPD this month then it's an awfully shortsighted move IMO. I don't see how diminishing the impact of announcements like this and the kinectless/price drop SKU is helping them (especially when now they're gonna suffer a whole month of non-sales now as everybody waits for the big $100 pricedrop). It just makes no sense
  3. Hey! Wii U is actually up on last year... lol
  4. Oh he hasn't played it? Oh fair enough then. You're right, Xenoblade doesn't look that fun when you're watching it but it IS actually fun as hell when you're the one playing it
  5. I know! It's total madness! If anything he seems to be getting YOUNGER with age!
  6. Err... Sakurai is 43 and has been with Nintendo/HAL since he was 18/19 (that's 23/24 years in working with Nintendo) Hardly what I would call a "fresh, young director" (though you wouldn't know it looking at him! He must be drinking virgin blood or something, cause he hasn't aged a day in the past 20 years! ) Now, if you do want to see a Nintendo director who actually IS fresh and young, look to the likes of Yusuke Amano (34) (Director of NSMB2) or Ryutaro Takahashi (not sure of his exact age, but he graduated university in 2005 - so he's probably in his mid/late 20s) (Director of several Wii Channels and the two Tomodachi Life games) or Takayuki Shimamura (not sure how old he is, but he joined Nintendo after finishing his work as technical supporter on Resident Evil GCN so he's not been at Nintendo for nearly as long as their more famous game directors) (Director of Wii Sports 1,2 & 3 and Nintendo Land) Or Hidemaro Fujibayashi (again, not sure exactly how old he is but he graduated University in 1995, so probably in his mid/late 30s, and he joined Nintendo in 2005 after Flagship collapsed so he certainly counts) (Director of the "Capcom Zeldas", Assistant Director on Phantom Hourglass and director of Skyward Sword)
  7. A spiritual successor to Xenoblade plays like Xenoblade? Shock horror! Dunno what you were expecting here... a DMC style action game?
  8. My god... The alt boy costume looks even more psycho than the main one!
  9. I reckon that there's a decent chance that we might see Mission Mode return... As future DLC (actually I'd be totally OK with this! Hell bring back the special Battle Mode stages as DLC while you're at it!) The annoying thing is they got so close with Mario Kart 7, but then they go ahead and muck it up with the respawning and other silly choices (and ironically they finally fixed them with MK8, but then ruin it with a half hearted effort by not having arena style stages). Typical... I'd rather see them downgrade the graphics in order to accommodate that mode (or to accommodate 60FPS in 3-4 player mode while I'm at it!) Double Dash did it back on the Gamecube (and so did F-Zero GX and Kirby's Air Ride for that matter...) so I don't see why they can't do it here. Just downgrade the graphics as necessary
  10. It's probably IR light pollution messing up the Motionplus calibration for you. The remote is constantly looking for the sensor bar in order to calibrate itself while you play and the smallest sun ray is enough to mess it up. It works perfectly for me as long as I ensure that no sunlight gets in while I'm playing. All I can suggest is making sure that all of your curtains are closed properly and that you don't have anything like Kinect or any other IR light emitting device turned on while you play. Failing that, you can actually turn the sensor bar auto calibration off, but it will result in a lot of drift buildup very quickly...
  11. Nintendo's booth is the same size as last year's... Sony's is smaller? Is that right?
  12. Story of my life :p
  13. True, but I get the feeling that it might be something that is added in an update down the line... (Or maybe even enabled in the June Wii U System Update...)
  14. This! I'll be pissed if new buyers (or retail buyers) get a discount while existing owners get nothing...
  15. Well! Guess we know what two of Nintendo's surprise "and it's available right now after this presentation" E3 announcements are now...
  16. They're talking about it because they were asked about it by an investor and they're peddling the same line that they always have, they start developing the next console as soon as they release the last one. They also take the time to discuss the Wii U's prospects over the next two years, so don't count on seeing a successor any sooner than the usual 5 year odd time frame.
  17. It really is the little details that make all the difference
  18. I'd be really surprised if it didn't hit this year. From the very beginning they've said it would be a 2014 release and Xenoblade came out in Japan all the way back in 2010, giving X a 3-4 year dev cycle if it were to come out this year. That's MORE than long enough!
  19. Oh you can swap them? Well that's even better then!
  20. It's designed to be played on the Gamepad, with the player occasionally glancing at the TV for guidance (or for onlookers to shout out to the player about stuff that only shows up on the TV, co-op style) Of course you CAN just play it on the TV, but the onscreen HUD stuff (text boxes, icons, character portraits etc) seemingly tends to be obtrusive since it's not designed to be played that way...
  21. You know that it's all about the Infinity Launcher though Nothing is funnier than using it to free That Dog from the bear trap at the start of the game, or coming across The Big Cheese and killing him in one hit completely non-chalantly Also I was hellishly addicted to RE4's mercenaries mode. Sure it's not as complex of fleshed out as the 3DS game (which makes sense, it WAS a minigame after all!) but the simplicity of it made it all the more endearing for me. Also I like the simpler mechanics of it too (RE: Mecenaries 3D was based off of RE5).
  22. I've never actually played this one (it was always one I had meant to pick up on Wii Ware and never actually got round to doing it), so you can bet that I'm gonna jump on that faster than a Viking on a banana hoard!
  23. And yet both brands are in decline Really though, if Destiny takes off like Activision are hoping for, MS will be in big (well, even bigger) trouble as Sony are getting in there early with exclusive deals and such to tie the brand into Playstation, like what MS did with COD. And of course PS4 has the userbase advantage too, so that's even more incentive for Activision to favour them this time...
  24. Aha! So THAT's why we haven't gotten Flipnote 3D in the west yet then...
  25. Interesting that he goes out of his way to quell fears about their QOL platform being designed to supplant their VG business. The new Business Development Division sounds interesting, a bit like what The Pokemon Company does for the game series, but on a macro scale across the company. That 2 year timeframe they put out for their "redefining of video games" makes me think that this concept is referring to the next generation Nintendo handheld and the start of the combined hardware architecture across all of their devices. 2016 sounds about right for a 3DS successor too (3DS came out in March 2011, so that means a life cycle of around 5-6 years; a bit less than the DS but a lot more than the GBA) So plenty more years left of life in the little 3 dimensional wonder then
