  1. Problem though now is that the Xbone has absolutely nothing to differentiate it from the PS4. It is literally just a weaker version of Sony's console, selling at the same price with a couple of exclusive games. Microsoft have nothing going for them now other than the sheer power of their wallet to moneyhat exclusives. How far are they willing to go to continue to fund these kinds of projects? (I guess we'll find out at E3 )
  2. BOOM! Now THAT's a gamechanging move! So now they're at price parity (and service parity too, with them straight up ripping off PS+ now). Sony still have the power advantage though and at that same price point, that's gonna hurt them... Still I don't understand why they announced it now. They're gonna sell like zero consoles from now until then, why not wait a little longer and make it your big E3 announcement? ("available from... Today!") Why cap yourself at the knees like this? However much it reaks of desperation here, it's still pretty balsy of them to not take the opportunity to undercut Sony with this move...
  3. Set up your own Streetpass Relay point at home and use that to get Streetpasses for this game?
  4. The fuck!? Where did this come from!? Sounds like a Pokemon take on Streetpass Battle, so I'm A-Inkay with this
  5. As long as it's Brian Blessed and not "Epic Guy" I'd be ok with this
  6. Yeah that sounds pretty similar to what I thought when I played it. It's definately a thinking man/woman's shooter It's fast paced, but not too fast paced (similar to the Mario games in that respect, if that makes sense), there seemed to be some nice variety in the level designs/enemies/objectives etc and they really make some clever use of the fact that you are restricted in what direction you can fire at any given time That interview did mention that it's designed with the idea that you play primarily on the Gamepad, while occasionally glancing up at the TV screen to see ahead of you (TV view is zoomed out more) or getting a friend who's watching you to warn you of what's ahead in a sort of semi co-op fashion. Does the game really make much use of two screen trickery in that sort of way you reckon?
  7. While I'm not saying there's a pattern here or not, I think Serebii is referring to people asking for more games built around the Gamepad when he says people are asking it "to be shoehorned into everything". And he's certainly right there; there's a lot of discontent over how a lot of Nintendo's recent output (namely DKCTF, NES Remix 1&2, Mario Kart 8 and to a lesser extent SM3DW) don't really make major use of it. I'm not taking what he says literally here, but I think it's fair to say that there is a bit of a change in tack over the last few years. It is kinda funny how it has gone from people moaning about "overuse" of touch/motion controls in DS/Wii games to people now moaning about the lack of games that really make good use of the Gamepad
  8. I do. People went ballistic over the idea of touch controls in the Zelda games on DS, and the controls for Starfox Command when it got announced, and over the idea of touch controls in Advance Wars Dual Strike, and they moaned about the presence of touch actions in Castlevania DOS, and the touch controls for tilting the table in Metroid Prime Pinball... You get the idea... There were LOADS of examples over the years of people moaning about touch controls in "core" DS games; hell even today you have people deriding them over the influence of "casual shit" on these games... Serebii says a lot of crazy stuff, but he's right on this one (if a bit hyperbolic about it :p )
  9. So this is the week for Scram Kitty and NOE did an interview with Dakko Dakko about the game http://www.nintendo.co.uk/News/2014/May/Nintendo-eShop-developer-discussion-Scram-Kitty-and-his-Buddy-on-Rails-881883.html
  10. Hell I'd be happy with a VC release of the original Mega CD version, just to be able to play it without having to sell a kidney
  11. It does a good job of subtly telling you what the "game" is about though (and no it's not just learning how to draw Pikachu before you go ahead and make the obvious joke :p ) With the Japanese box you can interpret it as being just a set of tools for drawing Pokemon, while the EU one makes it clearer that it's about learning how to draw Pokemon; so for that reason EU box>JPN one IMO
  12. Yup! I AM... AWEEESSSOOMMMEEE!!!! Herp...Groudon please kill me...
  13. Be honest though, you were at least expecting to see the Mega versions of them though. It actually managed to underwhelm even my lowest expectations
  14. Wow! Well done! Would never have expected a uni mag to ever get so big! (Certainly not big enough to actually get review copies ) Hell if you've gotten this far I wouldn't say that E3 is an impossibility. Tie it into your uni's game dev courses (assuming your uni has one) and you never know...
  15. Yeah they are. There's a full retail Art Academy game coming out this year for Wii U (Art Academy Sketchpad was just the free paint mode ripped out of the full retail game as something that Nintendo could put out early in order to keep people happy while they waited for the full game).
  16. Less than 3 weeks to go until Xmas In Summer for me This'll fit in nicely alongside MK8, DKCTF and the rest
  17. Me me me! I loved that game at Eurogamer Expo! It's gonna be great
  18. Woah! July 4th for Europe? That's way faster than I was expecting!
  19. Hey! Mr Driller! Nice (was secretly hoping it would be Castlevania Dracula X this week, but eh) Never played this MD game in particular. Anyone care to chime in?
  20. Yeah I find that's pretty true for me too. I have a nasty tendency to bite off more than I can chew and I start to not enjoy each game as much as I should do because of it. So I try to limit myself to two games max from the same console at a time (and no more than 3 games played through simultaneously - not counting general "go-to" stuff or multiplayer games that I play when my mates come round).
  21. We have standardised wireless technology now. Adding in compatibility for past controllers (and making further use of them in games from future generations) is trivial now. It wouldn't matter if the next console didn't include a Gamepad (or even a similar new controller that absorbed all of the functionality of the existing Gamepad) because they can just reuse the existing one and continue to sell it separately for those future games that would make use of it.
  22. Yeah I agree. Not including voice chat during races in MK8 is just dumb. If you didn't want to hear voices while playing you could just have an option to mute voices while you're actually racing and just have it turn back on in the lobby chat room.
  23. Yeah I pretty much agree with SGC entirely. It's certainly not a trifling matter that should be ignored because "it's just a game" and I would've liked to see it implemented into Tomodachi Life, but not retroactively patched into the game after it has already launched and certainly not in response to any sort of protest. Include it in the next game? sure, no reason not to. But nobody should ever be able to bully an artist (of any sort) to change their work after they have already deemed it "finished" and have released it, no matter the subject matter IMO.
