Forgivehness given (God I miss good Simpsons...) Anyway, Nintendo should do something more than just sending out statements to gaming sites... Quite a lot of people are still refusing to believe them and that will hurt their chances of getting the Wii U's sales going with MK8... A public statement on their own site or a quickie Nintendo Direft with Iwata saying "Please Understand. There will be no new hardware at E3, thank you and Forgivehness Prease" would help

Actually if you look closely at how they worded those previous "denials" you'll notice that they actually don't flat out say "no". They rightly call them out those rumours as what they are, rumours and speculation (the latter one also goes out of its way to note "factual errors" - which should've been a big clue in of itself as to whether it was real or not) This time around though, they're just flat out literally saying "no". Something that they've never done before...
-
It does because that would count as a new piece of hardware (like how the 2DS was a new piece of hardware). Not to mention that we would've heard more detailed information about it before now anyway. What more do you want than a flat out denial? (Something that Nintendo NEVER do in regards to rumours normally...)

IGN RUMOR - Nintendo may show new hardware at E3
Dcubed replied to canand's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Interesting to see Nintendo flat out deny it and not give their usual. "we do not comment on rumours or speculation" spiel. I suppose Serebii is right and that a refusal to deny would only damage them (the very last thing they need when they're pinning their hopes on MK8 pushing Wii U systems is anything that would encourage them to hold out on a purchase!) Could Nintendo finally be getting a clue and stop shooting themselves in the foot in regards to public relations? Nah course not, it's probably just the lucky one off... -
IGN RUMOR - Nintendo may show new hardware at E3

No, that patent pertains to a really old prototype that Nintendo made when they were developing the 3DS... They do this all the time, take out patents for prototypes that don't get made into final products (hello Wii Horseriding!), just in case they decide to re-visit the concept later on. It doesn't mean anything either way. -
NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I was hoping he'd be playable!! Come on! He already has a full Smash moveset and three partners who are PERFECT Assist Trophy material!! NOT Cool Sakurai, not cool! He deserves better than this!

IGN RUMOR - Nintendo may show new hardware at E3
Dcubed replied to canand's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Could be NFC toys. They would technically count as "hardware" and we know that an NFC focused game is coming... Whatever it is (if indeed this rumour isn't entirely bunk) it won't be a new console or handheld (we would have already heard much more about it by now if that were the case) or QoL (It's not being unveiled until next year and E3 isn't the right place for it anyway). -
If anyone is buying a download code from Game, could you please let me know if you still get a free copy of Mario Golf GBC? I need a second copy of the game and I'd like the digital version, but I also plan on getting Mario Golf GBC eventually anyway...

Well this is a nice surprise Very unexpected to see them make this a Wii U exclusive! (Especially seen as how the first game was a multiplatform release and how Curve Studio's recent output has been very much Sony focused). Makes me wonder if Nintendo are involved like they were in the two Hydroventure games... There's a lot of potential here for a great game. The first game was good and laid the foundations for something potentially very special. Making it a Wii U exclusive opens it up to a lot of really cool potential Wii U functionality; maybe they'll do a zoomed out view on the TV and close up on the Gamepad (ALA DK's Crash Course in Nintendo Land), or maybe they could have night vision on the Gamepad and a normal view on the TV and you have to switch your focus back and forth to sneak past hidden cameras! Miiverse messages ingame also make a lot of sense (considering that the first game focused a lot on finding hidden hint messages) and they could also implement motion controls for things like swaying lights (maybe you get a gravity shifting item that allows you to sway cameras left and right in order to point them away from you so you can sneak past them!) as well as touch controls for activating switches, pulleys and the like (the level editor would also greatly improve from the Wii U's touch/2 screen interface too!) This could be something really special if done right
-
Well now this is interesting... Seems that Curve Studios are making a sequel to Stealth inc/Stealth Bastard... As a Wii U exclusive! Now why would they do that? Considering that the previous game was a multiplatform release and most of their recent output has been Sony focused... (they have worked with Nintendo before on the two Hydroventure games, so I wonder if Nintendo themselves are involved in Stealth 2...) Either way I'm interested. The original Stealth Bastard was a good game and a sequel that builds off that could be something special There's also quite a bit of potential for some clever Gamepad use here - with the two screened setup allowing new forms of stealth (night vision on Gamepad, normal view on TV anyone? ), Miiverse messages appearing in-game as well as potential motion controlled lights and touch controls for activating switches and such... (not to mention the level editor would benefit MASSIVELY from the Wii U's interface )

You don't have to link your Club Nintendo account to your Wii U, but you should if you want those stars... It doesn't matter what order you do it in, but you really should do all 3 as soon as you get it. What might be a good idea is to do the CN link while you're waiting for the system/game updates to download in the background (the first time you start a disc game on Wii U, it'll check for updates. You can then choose to start without updating and it'll just carry on downloading and installing the update for you in the background - any subsequent updates are downloaded and installed automatically for you in the background via Spotpass - it's really very slick and totally seamless! )
-
No, seriously, this is the correct choice.
-
That game is fucking awesome BTW! The music alone is worth the price of purchase... If you like games like Typing of the Dead, this game is a must buy! (It's also ROCK hard! No, seriously! This game will put manly hairs on your chest and give you nightmares of your countless failures )
-
Actually it does, as of today with the 1.70 update and the ShareFactory app... Why on earth Nintendo persist in making these kinds of features per game instead of system wide is beyond me... (Yes yes I know that it doesn't record your gameplay into a video file live while you're playing outside of the Gamepad video stream but surely something like Kart's solution could be implemented at the OS system level for games to call upon - then every game could make use of it! Same goes for the communities features...) If there are are unlockable characters (and Kart history would suggest that there are lots of them), they wouldn't be shown in that initial character selection list...

Looks nuts! Nice to see Konno address the concerns about Bikes VS Karts (and to see him admit the obvious thing that Bikes were wayyyy overpowered in MK Wii!) and show how anti-gravity does shake up the gameplay significantly

Where is that angel wing coming from? Peach's head?

Wow! This is like my cousin's dream game! He LOVES Art Academy and mostly draws Pokemon pictures in it...

Ironically enough, I actually think that their shorter and "less full" games are actually their best ones! They generally seem to make better games when they have a narrower focus IMO; Shantae GBC to Shantae: Risky's Revenge is a good example - the sequel might be less ambitious in scope than its predecessor, but it's a far more refined game and all the better for it! Likewise, I much prefer Mighty Flip Champs to Mighty Milky Way (With Mighty Switch Force 1 & 2 somewhere in the middle - both MSF games are generally on par with one another too).
-
If you're wondering whether or not that the setting in the video was actually the real NOA HQ... it is the real one (we've seen a lot of those areas shown in the video before, in past US versions of Nintendo Direct - unfortunately I can't seem to remember which ones and buggered if I'm gonna shift through them to find out which ones - but they've generally been keen to show off the US HQ ever since it got revamped)
-
Yeah, it's a great vid. I'm not usually a fan of Mega 64's stuff (liked their earlier videos, their more recent ones though... not so much...), but this was really good! The "actors" here make all the difference
-
Yeah but that still came with a game... Nintendo's QoL stuff however is completely un-related to their consoles though... E3 doesn't seem like an appropriate place to talk about that kind of stuff...
-
This. Nintendo are the only ones who are capable of doing justice to Metroid. Wayforward are pretty good devs in general (though they do have their "off" games), but not even close to the level of the likes of Nintendo themselves. They do make good games, but they are somewhat overrated in general...

That mention of "2014 and beyond" is a big clue BTW... Zelda Wii U (which will probably be their big announcement here) is almost certainly a late 2015 game in that case (which will subsequently possibly get pushed back to 2016) I suspect that the video will mostly consist of new trailers for the Wii U games that we already know about (which will also make up 90% of the rest of this year's lineup; with the possible exception of Fire Emblem X SMT). Otherwise we'll see Wii Sports Club Baseball and Boxing (the former of which will be released right after the presentation), followed by a retail version later on... The last big surprise for Wii U will be a new Animal Crossing game, while 3DS will get a new Advance Wars... I expect another drought until late July/early August where we'll get Bayonetta 2 and then one Wii U retail game per month for the rest of the year... Otherwise the rest of the Direct will focus on late 3DS localisations of games like Fantasy Life, Yo-kai Watch and (hopefully!) Jam With the Band Pro; as well as a surprise release of the N64 Virtual Console on Wii U - exit stage left...
-
They won't show anything QOL related here. Not only is it much too early, but it is also supposedly entirely non game related, so why would they show it at a gaming event? Much more likely that they'll show it at somewhere like CES or somewhere else completely un-related to video games...
-
But I love that stuff! There's nothing like having that live event and suddenly after hearing the audience to apeshit over the Twilight Princess unveil, Miyamoto pops out glad in a full Link getup looking like a prat! To be fair, I do like the sound of the Treehouse @ E3 event. The idea of having a seperate sent for nothing but live (actually live and unscripted!) demos of games is nice. But why does this (and the Direct) have to come at the expense of the press conference!? It's good to see that they've acknowledged that the Direct alone isn't enough, but you're still not gonna get that Live feeling when the announcements come rolling in, and there's nothing here that can replicate that Once again Nintendo is looking like a coward in the face of their competitors too... Surely the last thing that they need!
