Releasing a Wii U game around that time might not necessarily be a bad thing though... If there's a buzz about the console in general, it might encourage people to look at other things coming to the Wii U around that time! Releasing it in a dead period is problematic because it would basically be all on its own, where people just aren't interested in looking at anything Wii U related. There's also a good chance that a large chunk of Wii U owners also own another console, so if there's nothing significant coming out around that time, they're not gonna be paying attention to anything Wii U related... Ideally (outside of a simultaneous release with the other versions) what they would do is release it during a period in which there are a decent number of lower profile games coming out on Wii U and where nothing similar is coming out on other consoles - and really, it should be at a lower price than the current RRP because it is going to be released long after the other versions and it's gonna have to compete with cheaper versions elsewhere...

You just buy the games you want. Each console that is represented on the VC has a general flat price per game (IIRC, NES games are £3.49, SNES games are £5.49, GBA games are £6.49 and N64 & DS games are £8.99); you do get occasional discounts and such though mind you! The VC games themselves look sharp and clear on a HDTV. They are unchanged from their original form, so they're represented with nice big chunky pixels! (N64 games are the one exception though as they are rendered in a much higher resolution than their original cartridge counterparts and look/run MUCH better than they did originally!) Best thing about the VC though is that the games come with loads of nice features as standard. All games come with a feature that allows you to suspend your game in progress anywhere by just quitting the game and have it return to the place you suspended as soon as you come back to it (a GODSEND for many games, especially NES and SNES games that originally had no save feature!), Off TV Play, custom button remapping (excluding DS games, those are the only ones where you can't change the button layout, for obvious reasons really), Miiverse support and El-cheato save states (though it does leave a "mark of shame" if you do resort to using it, if you want to play legit and show off, you can show proof of it online!) There are also a few screen options for DS and GBA games as well (a LOT in the case of DS VC games!)

Yeah it was great overall! I just wished that the people there would've bloody shut up and let me hear the sodding music! But ahh well, it was still fantastic. The Majora's Mask medlies in particular were really great! And it was good to finally get Lorule Castle music too! (they've done Yuga's Theme before, but I always found myself pining to hear Lorule Castle, so it was great to hear it done at last! ) I did wish that there were less repeat songs from previous Zelda concerts, but I'm part of the minority that has been to all of them so far, so it's something that isn't really an issue for most people; plus it was nice to hear everything again anyway (I did like how they updated the Wind Waker footage to take from TWWHD instead of the original though! They could've just reused the old footage used in the previous event, but they put the effort in instead! ) Real nice atmos overall as well. The little messages from the Nintendo staff really helped it feel like a celebration, akin to the 25th anniversary concert!

Yeah, I've been wanting a good single player mode in MK for ages! MKDS is the closest that we've ever gotten, but it's just not the same...

If you're looking for something RPG-ish that's a Wii U retail title... Go for MH3U! It's not technically an Action RPG (your character doesn't actually level up), but it does have a lot of those kinds of trappings and it's a thumping great game! : peace: There's also plenty of great RPGs on the Virtual Console to choose from as well, like the Golden Sun and Fire Emblem games! Don't neglect the VC! It's a real treasure trove of gaming goodness!

I really really hope that we get a digital version of Rodea Wii as well! Seems completely nonsensical to have it be disc only, now that we have downloadable Wii games! My living room setup DEMANDS disclessness!

I'm certain that we'll see NLG's new game at least!
-
Oh yeah, should really mention that I'll be the weird looking guy wearing a Zelda T-shirt and a backpack : peace:

Looks good! Though I think it's a good idea to list the games that each developer most recently released as well; just to give a better idea of when we can expect to see something from them... So I've update the list thus... There ya go! : peace: That's all I remember from the top of my head at least! (and in the case of Namco and TecmoKoei, I really can't be bothered to list every single little thing they do (besides, they're huge. Godonlyknowswhat they're working on anyway! :p

Fancy another fellow N-Europer joining you? I'll join you guys! (might have to shoot off a little before the event though, cause I'm going along with my brother and sister and I'll need to meet up with them) So, it's JJ Moons at around 4PM then?

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Wow! Mario Party 10 actually did really well! It actually managed to outsell Mario Party 9's first month in the US! That is legitimately surprising! About time the Wii U had a non Mario Kart/Smash sales success As for updates on other games... CT is not too bad, considering that it's a budget spinoff made with an existing engine and re-uses a lot of art assets from SM3DW; should be at around 500,000 between US/JPN by now. Meanwhile, TW101 seems to have had some legs after all, which gives me a bit of hope that Bayo 2 will continue to climb a bit higher at least... it has already supposedly outsold what the PS3 version of Bayo 1 did in less than a third of the time (6 months on Wii U VS 18 months on PS3), and should be shooting for the 360 SKU 18 month figure shortly... Speaking of legs, Kirby managed to basically sell exactly the same amount in March as what it sold at launch. Just a shame that its initial sales were horrible, because to not drop at all from initial sales numbers is indicative of very strong legs! STEAM is an expected bomba sadly. Doesn't surprise me in the slightest, given how ridiculously niche it is. -
Yeah... this is one theme that works better in theory than in practice... The race is basically decided in the first few seconds. If you're out in front, you're basically playing time trials. If you're at the back, you're just eating dust. And if you're in the middle... You're having fun Thankfully I spent most of it eating and dealing (but mostly eating :p ) carnage, so I had fun at least!

You can use either, but you're typically at a disadvantage if you just use Play Coins. If you're not taking your 3DS around with you, then it's not really worth it. Oh and Streetpass Garden is back on the menu... (hangs head in shame...)

WORTH. EVERY. PENNY!!
-
Oh hey guys! I'm IN this week! (I know! I'm in on an "off" week! Crazy right? )
-
You know what? For what it's worth, it's actually pretty good for what it is! For a licensed Disney racing game that was clearly made on a budget, under no doubt very strict licensing rules, it's actually pretty good! It even follows the Mickey Ears mandate! On the N64! That's pretty damn impressive! I mean, it's no masterpiece by any stretch, but it's not half bad actually!

You got lucky there! I once was put on hold for 5 hours trying to get through to them to fix a problem with my line!! Last time we had problems with our broadband/telephone line it took us about 1.5 months of constant fighting with lying phone support people who were running off a script, incompetent engineers who had no idea what they were doing and constant battling to get ANYONE from Openreach to actually come and take a look at the bloody problem!! Dealing with anything BT line related is a total nightmare from hell!
-
Yeah, same here. There's actually not much in the way of platforming at all really :p BK and BT are pretty light on the actual platforming side as well, but DK64 has barely any at all really.

If you have a router that uses a 5ghz WiFi signal (Wireless N or AC), try turning it off and that should help a fair bit. That can sometimes affect it pretty badly (even in the same room as the console) since the Gamepad also uses a 5ghz signal. Otherwise, it's just gonna depend on your environment. If you have thick walls, or if they're made with certain materials, that'll reduce the range of your Gamepad.

Well if Mario can have two clones in one game, I don't see why Marth can't :p

All the tracks look amazing, but that barrier on Baby Park is a bit of a bummer... I suppose that you'll have the frantic nature of 12 player 200CC Anti-grav gameplay to make up for it, but without the giant Bowser Shells and green shells passing over to each side as you race, it's not gonna be the same... (hopefully you can still throw bananas and bobombs over the barrier at least!) Also, while I'm ecstatic to see them finally bring back my two favourite courses from Super Circuit (good to see them doing good by that game after only giving it one single course in the base MK8), I get that feeling that those awesome shortcuts that made those tracks fun in the first place are gonna get the axe... They still all look great regardless though!

Finally getting round to watching through the whole thing (only watched Season 1 and now I'm watching the whole series). So I started from the beginning again and it's just as great as I remember it! Everyone is so messed up and so endearing! I love how everyone has their own strong reasoning behind everything they do; with strong character development on the part of the whole cast! Cinematography is great! The music is great! The pacing is spot on, really just great stuff all round! : peace:

Does anyone else here feel that this seems too late? I mean, if it's only available just now, how long will it take for it to be adopted by developers who use Unity? 3-9 months? By then, how long are we talking until the NX Handheld is looming over the horizon? Another 1-1.5 years? Doesn't seem like there's much time to me... To me it feels like that they really should've gotten it ready for developers well before the New3DS actually launched... Aaaaannnndd that's exactly why I never bothered with the game. I'd already had enough after playing the demo
-
Yup! (Though RB doesn't seem to be Wii U bound...)
-
Well it's... certainly interesting to see them take a different approach with this one! Was expecting it to be mostly the same as before... Good on em to try something different here at least! Will make for an interesting battle between GH and RB this time. With one representing change and newness, while the other is a direct continuation of the past.
