Yeah, Wave Race is not an easy game! The CPU players are plain BS (and in the highest difficulty, they don't actually earn enough points to qualify themselves! - but they still get to carry on playing anyway :p )

I don't see VR taking off in a big way any time soon; especially not at the Rift's price (and the less said about the EU price, the better ) Also, I reckon that a lot of people will be less than impressed by the games/experiences on offer. I know I wasn't particularly impressed when I tried the Rift DK1 and DK2... It generally doesn't really change the way you play a game (though that one game where you sit in a classroom and have to look away at the right time is a pretty neat concept), since you're typically using the same controllers as usual. The headtracking is the main game changing feature and that isn't being particularly exploited much for gameplay purposes. It isn't really very convincing IMO. Sure, it's 360 degrees/9DOF and yes it's 3D, but it doesn't really feel like you're there. It still feels like you're looking at a screen and are just playing a normal game where you move the camera around with your head. And then there's the anti-social factor. VR has much bigger barriers to overcome than just price...

This is going to make PS VR look cheap by comparison

Oh hey, bit random, but cool nonetheless... http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1166846 The Nintendo World Store is getting a revamp... and a name change! It is now known as Nintendo NY Store... A precursor to Nintendo London Store perhaps? (They did do that temporary pop up store in Paris a few years back... so it's not impossible) I hope so! It's a lovely place!

Starfox Zero: The first proper Starfox game in 19 years!? Oh hell yes! It looks to be everything I always wanted from a new Starfox game (OK, it's still lacking a proper multiplayer mode, but otherwise!) and a game that really champions the Gamepad in a truly unique way. Twilight Princess HD: I'm eager to see all the little changes they've made to it and after all the Zelda Symphonies, dare I hope for an orchestrated score this time? (They always wanted to do it originally! Now's their chance! ) Zelda Wii U Still shrouded in mystery, but of course I'm looking forward to it, it's Zelda! Looking forward to all the crazy Gamepad dual screen puzzles they come up with as well! Firs Emblem Fates I'm always up for more Fire Emblem and this time we're getting three of them! Super Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Love the PKMD series, so naturally I'm champing at the bit for this one! Pokemon RBY VC Looking forward to me and my friends and family getting stuck into Gen 1 again (no more pesky link cables!!) Metroid Prime Federation Force Screw the haters, I'm looking forward to this one! NLG has yet to put a foot wrong and I bet that this'll be a great Monster Hunter style game. It might not be the same kind of Metroid that you know and love, but I bet that it'll be a great experience in its own right Yooka Laylee This one's a big IF because I reckon that there's a very good chance that it'll slip into 2017, but if it makes it; oh God yes! A proper Banjo Kazooie successor, at long last! Everything else that I'm really looking forward to, I'm betting on them slipping into 2017... Otherwise I'm really looking forward to really diving deep into my backlog this year and I'm also looking forward to seeing what Cave Shmups come out on Steam!

There's no reason to drop support for any existing controller. It's all Bluetooth, so they might as well carry on supporting everything (plus it saves you a fortune in buying new controllers). There's much that has yet to be done with these older controllers. The Wii Remote and Nunchuck still offer tons of untapped potential.
-
It wasn't the final version of the Wiimote, nor did they show any actual games or OS/VC stuff until E3 (think they showed a few tech demos, my memory fails me though, but no actual games - that much I'm sure of). None of the accessories like the Classic Controller or any final hardware like the sensor bar was shown until E3 either.
-
That's what they did with the Wii, DS and 3DS (3DS was originally due to release in November 2010, but was delayed till Feb/March 2011) - Can't remember how the GCN/GBA reveals went, but I think they were somewhat similar; though they used Spaceworld instead for the initial reveal IIRC. They announced the concept earlier on and then did a full reveal at the following E3 (with a release that same year, or in the case of the 3DS, a few months after the intended end-of-year date) Wii U was the big exception as that was given a full unveil a whole year before release (and that didn't exactly turn out well :p) Anyway, remember that they said that the reveal would be this year, not necessarily the release... Nonetheless, I'm sticking with my original prediction. NX handheld gets released either November 2016 or March 2017 and the NX console comes out in November 2017. The console might be shown off this E3, but I'm not really sold on the idea. The handheld definitely will be though.
-
Heh, nah. I'm talking about the announcement-release schedule. That's a pretty easy guess really. I wouldn't be surprised if they announce initial details on the NX when Miitomo and My Nintendo launches worldwide. And an E3 blowout is something that Captain Obvious himself would be proud to tell you. Whether or not it comes out this year just depends on feasibility. They might make it in time for November, or it may just slip into March 2017. It is basically the DS all over again (and it'll be pushed as a 3rd pillar, just like the DS was - note how they keep saying that they're gonna keep supporting the 3DS and Wii U after the NX launches...)
-
So... basically like every single Nintendo console/handheld ever since the DS?
-
Next week is good, I'm off that Thursday so I'll be able to take part in the first one!
-
Well there's a nice surprise! Having the two different block formations should make for some pretty nicely varied puzzles. They could've announced it in the last Nintendo Direct, but it makes for a nice new year's surprise Hopefully won't be too long before we get it!
-
That's how Nintendo choose to use it. They have their E3 Direct for the public and then they do a press conference with a recap of all of the Direct information, along with sales charts, stats and publisher/developer specific info (that they deem uninteresting to their consumers), in the actual E3 exhibition hall. Not saying that their choice is right or wrong, just that's how they do it; so the press conference (that isn't streamed) is where they do all their networking.
-
For those of you talking about networking, do note that Nintendo actually do still do press conferences at E3, they just don't broadcast them anymore. Directs are for the public and the press conferences are for the press/publishers/developers; that's also why they don't talk about sales during the E3 directs, they save that for the actual press conferences that take place at E3 because they took note of how many people complained during past E3 conferences when they were presented with globs of stats and sales charts.

I'd say that the Wii U has a pretty good lineup for the immediate future as far as 1st Party games go. You've got Twilight Princess HD in March and then Pokken and Star Fox Zero in the months following right afterwards. Then there's #FE that'll be coming not long afterwards. That's not a bad few months ahead of us (though of course there's no exact dates but they're all coming in Q1 and #FE will probably be in Q2). Pikmin 4 will likely be Q2 as well, considering that it's supposedly nearly done (and Pikmin games tend to come out around that time). You should know how Nintendo announce their stuff by now; they generally focus on the immediate future (unless it's E3). So they're not talking about anything Q2 yet; just Q1/Spring.

Oh! There we go! My Shovel Knight Amiibo is FINALLY being processed!

It's a Yamaha Rx677. Lovely piece of kit... When it was working! I can still capture stuff, but it's a PITA to do so now. I had it all set up nicely where I can just press the record button on my harmony remote at any time and it'll just start recording, but nope...

My current one isn't even a year old! My last one gave up the ghost just a few months after the warranty expired (go figure) and while my current one is still within warrenty (2 years), it's just driving me utterly mental! Thankfully the repairs aren't costing anything since it's still under warrenty (the shipping certainly is though! And it's not cheap!) but the time spent without it is just hellish! Especially when I have everything else ready to go! It also makes things difficult for me in regards to capturing video/screenshots for the site as well (not completely impossible, but very difficult) as my setup really does rely on it heavily to work. I just got a fancy new Phillips Hue lighting system installed in my living room and all! (I even have the room lights set to dim and change colour automatically whenever you go to watch a movie!) and I can't really take advantage of it until it's back and fully functional! It's just so aggrevating!!

78mbps Download, 28mbps upload. Wired and over 5ghz Wifi N, I do tend to get around just that. On 2.4ghz Wifi, usually around 20mbps download. BT Infinity (fibre to the exchange, sadly not to the home yet), in case you're wondering. Generally very solid and stable (though we did have a very rough period where almost nothing worked for about 2 months or so last year... It was horrible!) Course I have to turn off 5ghz every time I play the Wii U because the signal interferes with the Gamepad like crazy! (2.4ghz poses no problems though - the Gamepad itself uses a variant of 5ghz N; hence the interference).

Now I'm not someone who normally likes talking about his problems, but I've gone ahead and done it in the Bayonetta 2 thread, so I might as well talk about it here now... For the last month, I have been sans AV Receiver. First it develops a problem where it stopped outputting audio to my speakers properly. So I get it sent off (during the Xmas period, woo!) and I just got it back now. Spent the whole day setting it back up and now the audio problem seems to be resolved! Hooray! BUT LO AND FUCKING BEHOLD! Now two of the HDMI ports have packed up completely! WOOFUCKINGHOO!!!! So now I have to send it back AGAIN!! FUCK ME!!! I'm going fucking mental! The lack of decent sound is driving me up the wall! (also means that I'm not gonna be able to capture any fresh videos for the site either) I'm never gonna be playing Bayonetta 2 at this rate!!!
-
Never mind... It's not happening My Receiver is back and I've set it all up... AND NOW I HAVE TO FUCKING SEND IT BACK AGAIN!!!!!!!!! Now two of the HDMI ports are fucking broken! First the audio output to the speakers stops working (now fixed) and now THIS happens! Fuck me, this is more bullshit than two sets of Grace and Glory at once!

Nice! So when does the 2016 league start? I want to get back into this thing
-
It does indeed. Bodes well for Wario Ware Twisted too
-
Drill Dozer is a solid action game, very unique as well! Don't sleep on it folks. This is the first time it has ever been released in Europe!
-
Well I guess that answers my question then! Right! I'm gonna be cheeky and link to my final list of 2015 in last year's thread just to give you guys a chance to marvel at my thoughts on various games throughout 2015 one last time; just before the thread gets lost within the annals of history Still playing through Dream Team myself actually (coming up to the end now). It has its flaws, but the battles have never really been better. I hope that Paper Jam ups the ante when it comes to out of battle gameplay though, because Dream Team's feels very pedestrian and lacking in terms of action gameplay, side quests and all that good stuff...
