So... err... Bayonetta is amazing... That is all! (I am VERY happy with how she was incoporated into Smash! She's ridiculously fun!)

The prices of anything retro have really skyrocketed in the last few years, not least of all Saturn! Even N64 and GCN stuff can go for silly money these days! I wouldn't mind seeing a few more shots of your collection @S\.C\.G! I'm sure it'll make my rather pitiable Saturn collection look even more pitiable : peace:

So this is interesting... http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1179590 Someone from NOA trying to get in touch with Toby Fox? I can't see how Undertale could come to a console in its current form... It would have to have SIGNIFICANT changes to be doable on Wii U or 3DS (or any non PC platform for that matter). It would certainly take some determination to do so...

Yup, Eurogamer are now corrobating it! http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-02-04-mother-3-will-finally-get-western-release-report YES!!! TAKE ALL MY MONEY!!! Let the floodgates open!! The holy grail of VC releases is almost upon us! Looking forward to making @Glen\-i eat his words very soon (how would you like them? Boiled? Mashed? Live on camera? I'm very accommodating :p )

Good stuff! Gamepad in this game seems to work exactly like Wind Waker HD, which is exactly what I was hoping for Do hope that we also get optional Wii Remote/Chuck controls as well... Fishing just wont be the same without them...

The fact that they released Mother 1 as "Earthbound Beginnings" is the biggest tell. You can't have a beginning without an ending I do think it's gonna finally happen. It's Mother 3's 10th anniversary and they just released a Lucas Amiibo. It'll be their big VC related announcement for E3 and it'll be GLORIOUS! I could honestly get nothing else from E3 and still be ecstatic from that bombshell!

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1179459 I'm not one to believe in Emily Rogers... but I want to believe SO bad!

Doesn't sound particularly promising does it? While it's tempting to call it the new Vitality Sensor, I'm still inclined to believe that it is still being developed and is just not ready to show yet; if only for the fact that significant resources are being sunk into it and that it involves an outside company (Restmed). It is meant to be the start of a whole new product category for Nintendo here, so it's not some little experimental thingy that they can afford to just brush aside here... Plus I need my sleep sorted! Come on Nintendo! Fix me!

In my case I'll be signing out because it's my usual Thursday off from the League (damn you work! - shakes fist angrily)

The Gold Points basically sound like a replacement for the Nintendo Network Premium programme... ... which is just fine by me! That thing was great! Do hope that it's not long before they start offering physical items for Platinum Points though...
-
Great. First you nick my games to play, now you're gonna be nicking my phone :p
-
Well it was a REALLY expensive advert, so it must be promising! :p
-
HOLY CRAP!!! You actually finished P&D Mario!? That Dr Who Gif is VERY apt! Congrats you lunatic! : peace: Time to tackle those Score Attack challenges! Gotta get ready for P&D X
-
Well they did say March before, so that's what I expected :p Anyway, good to see that they're doing pre-registration. Should mean that there shouldn't be any problems in dealing with network traffic problems when it launches

Actually, I think that if anything they're going straight to mobiles, tablets and PC rather than PS4/Xbone... And really, they're probably more likely to watch Youtubers play console games than actually play themselves :p

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Wii U doing well reletively speaking, while 3DS is well into its twilight period now. And people still think that the NX console is coming first The 3DS is the one due to be replaced first and the sales here prove it. It's 5 years old now and it's just a natural state of decline. I think the biggest surprise out of all of this is just how much the US really came through for Yoshi's Wooly World. After a tepid launch in Japan and Europe, it's really shocking how well it did in the US! NOA really did make the right call with that delay. -
The US really came through for Yoshi's Wooly World! It's really quite surprising how much more it sold there than in Japan or in Europe! NOA really did make the right call with that delay and the Mega Yarn Yoshi Amiibo timing! Smash Bros Wii U seems just as frontloaded as Brawl was.

Starfox Adventures is a bit of a shame really. You can tell that it was unfinished, especially with the ending. I still reckon that it would've ended up a better game if it was left as Dinosaur Planet on the N64. Not because I thought that the StarFox IP was a bad fit for it, but because the original prototype looked far more ambitious in terms of environmental interaction (while in the final one, the way you interact with the environment is a bit basic - and the combat is basically nothing but braindead button mashing). There was a LOT cut from the final version and it's clear that they just didn't get the time they needed to make the game they really wanted to make. I suppose with the looming Microsoft sale though, they didn't really have a choice though sadly.

Shu Yoshida has said much the same thing a few times over the years. In fact, he has also said that Nintendo's recent struggles are a big problem for Sony because they relied a lot on Nintendo introducing children to gaming in general. With Nintendo struggling to capture children right now, that's gonna come with some ramifications for Sony and MS down the line as well...

Nope, can't search specific courses and yes it is indeed insanely stupid. On a lighter note, Nintendo Japan just launched a cool little website where you can make desktop wallpapers with a MM style interface http://mariomaker-wp.nintendo.co.jp/ Works on mobile as well (auto detects what phone you have and lets you select your model, which has the correct resolution set) Nice.

You are indeed right. Nintendo don't allow you to buy duplicate content so if you already own one character from a bundle, then you can't buy the bundle.

They're definitely NOT easier. Tropical Freeze is rock hard, as is Smash 4 single player (the challenges are crazy hard) and even Captain Toad will end up putting manly hairs on your chest! (I still have nightmares about Mummy Me Maze Forever ) Difficulty isn't just tied to core control mechanics either. SM64 is arguably more complex than SM3DW in terms of base control mechanics, but the level design in SM3DW is far more complex and challenging in turn. As a long time player, I'd definitely say that SM3DW is a much harder game than SM64 to beat (to master on the same level as a speedrunner? Well that's up for debate :p ) Complexity can come from the most simple of control mechanics. Look at VVVVVV for example. It is literally a one button game where you can only move left and right and yet there is a super high skill cealing in place! They're easy to learn but hard to master. Don't confuse accessible with easy here Well WiFi tech has evolved since the Wii U came out in 2012, so they can probably do both now without issue (as well as support multiple Gamepad's at 60FPS ). Thinking about it, there's a lot of potential here with a Miiverse 2.0 of sorts. You can have built-in support for video overlays, visual effects and such (and having a Gamepad/Wiimote esc interface makes it very easy to set up for the average joe), videos can play across both screens like they do natively and they can have things like built-in shoutouts to viewers if you touch their icon on the Gamepad while you stream. They can also have exclusive content from famous Youtubers that actually appear as regular programming on Miiverse. Add in support for multi-channel streaming across YouTube, Twitch and Miiverse simultaneously and all of a sudden, the Nintendo Creator's Programme suddenly starts becoming a lot more attractive... In a sense, it could be a revival of the Nintendo TV concept. It failed to get off the ground originally because it was too difficult to deal with the associated licensing issues. With YouTube/live streamed/official Nintendo content however? That's no longer an issue! We all know how Nintendo never give up on a good idea and Nintendo TV WAS a good idea... just with lacking execution.
-
Well... Technically speaking, the hardware needed to support it is actually already there and in use right now... It's being used for the Gamepad! (and the hardware is capable of supporting two Gamepad streams at 30FPS, so it could be done if they wanted to...) I do get the feeling that if they did it for the NX, it wouldn't just be streaming like how it is done elsewhere... It seems like the kind of thing that they would want to add a Nintendo Touch to. Reggie's comment is pretty telling really. Nintendo as a company do not consider it to be "fun" to just stream video alone. I think that if they did it, they would look to find a way to make it more interactive on both ends (Sharing Miiverse comments and stamps live in chat perhaps? Minigames for you to play while you watch someone else play a game? That kind of thing I reckon would be what they'd try to do).
-
They don't need to copy, but there's a point to be made about their platforms not really making it easy for Youtubers to stream their footage without external devices (granted, bigger streamers would use external hardware anyway, but your average joe wouldn't). With Youtubers being so incredibly dominant amongst the younger demographics, there's a point to be made for lowering the barriers to streaming on their platform (especially considering the unique requirements for dealing with their multiscreen hardware) and with kids being used to sharing everything in their lives online on social media, there's also a point to be made for Nintendo's protective approach falling upon deaf ears so to speak... What they need is a "Nintendo-like" answer to these challenges. They're clearly warming up to today's modern world if you look at things like Nintendo Minute and their support for YouTube uploads in MK8 and Smash or how they've pushed streams of Mario Maker, Smash and Splatoon, but they need to go further still.

Nevermind. Nothing on the VC this week. Just Super Mario Galaxy as a Wii download. Guess they don't want anything else competing with the Smash DLC this week :p
