Even Spider-Man 2 was weak in a lot of areas. Aside from the amazing movement and stuff, it was pretty shit.

I'm still hesitant about this- I just fear Spider-Man in sub standard games. I'll check it out pending demo/reviews though.

Mhm I did think about Godzilla actually. It is kind of similar. Super Metroid is kind of like The Thing . It's the pinnacle of a kind of film making and technology that would soon be superseded but eventually holds up better in the long run. The Thing features what can be considered the best stop motion animation ever made, along with pioneering animatronics and makeup. They would eventually be replaced by CGI but if you go back and watch, say, Spider-Man now the CGI has aged incredibly badly, much in the same way as early 3D games replaced traditional 2D design. The Thing still looks absolutely amazing.

I actually think that, generally, games age very poorly indeed. It's one of the reasons that gaming is incomparable with cinema because technology and design often invalidates what's come previously and going backwards is often unpleasant. There are a few gems though. 2d has definitely fared better than early 3d. I can play and enjoy most SNES games and find them as fun as ever- Super Metroid is, in my mind, untouchable. Early 3d though like PS1, Saturn and N64 games particularly just feel horrible to play now with awful framerates, nasty textures and jutting polygons.

Aye. AA is quickly shaping up to be one of the best of the Heroic Age relaunches. It's much sharper in focus than The Initiative was later on and the characters are, so far, much better. self styled 'teen' books can often be full of bullshit and contrivances (Hello New X-Men not the Morrison one obv.) but AA is much more interesting and is currently fleshing out the academy students enough so that their age isn't really the focus so far. Very much enjoying.

This. Is. Awesome! Seriously cool issue. Great character work (Finally! Black Sampson and Bulletproof!) Nice new status quo, decent badguys (new and old), great Invincible cameo work. Ohmyword. Everything I wanted this book to be just delivered. Yes.

There's an absolute metric fuckton of differences but it is still Halo so, yeah, if you've only played a couple of times then I can imagine you won't notice all that much. few big ones: -New 'armour abilities' give players special abilities with cooldowns like sprinting, jetpacks and invisibility. - rebalanced weapons change the game massively - new health / shield system (more like Halo: CE) - New game modes - Spartans and Elites are different: Elites are bigger, faster, regenerate health and have different abilities to Spartans. -wort -wort -wort.
