Dazz your friends sound like proper douchebags. --- This sounds absurd written down but back in the day I ended it with a girlfriend because my friend was in love with her. Empathy got the better of me and I felt like I may as well be punching him in the head when he saw us together. Looking back, it was kind of retarded. Still, we met up recently for a drink, had some pretty decent sex and might get together properly again. Funny how things work out.

Yes I've always said that BSG isn't about space or science fiction- It's merely a frame for a deep and intense character drama about darker subject matter than more mundane settings would allow. Just wait till you see the first episodes of series 3. Without giving anything away, I can safely say that they're an incredibly brave piece of political and social commentary that comes from a place so leftfield and far away from the common American public perception at the time that they were made that, frankly, their existence baffles me. Brilliant, brilliant television. I've started season 4 of Six Feet Under. Intensely dark television. The ending of season 3 is heartbreaking. Great drama though. Those that have seen it will know what I mean but the way the viewer journey's along with the Fishers through the final episodes of the season is wonderfully done. Their confusion is our confusion and the decision not to indulge in dramatic irony is a deft writing touch that is as fine as any I've ever seen.

Despite myself, I'm actually really enjoying it so far. I hated the concept but the art is killer, the script has snap and some of the other characters you don't see so much in Uncanny are getting more time. It's blatantly irrelevant but I actually dig it.

I'll obviously need to hear it on my hi fi again but in the beta it was more of a hydraulic hiss from the armour so you might be right in that it's a pronounced cue. Another map video. This time it's Zealot, aka 'son of midship'. It's a new map but shares the Covenant ship aesthetic and also features a section of map set on the exterior of the space ship with low gravity and so on. Looks like a proper hardcore arena map, too.

I am, of course, trying to sum up just how deliriously exciting and dynamic the brilliant Janelle Monae is. who, you ask? Well, peasant, I'll tell you. She's an RnB singer from Atlanta and protegé of Outkast's Big Boi and is, frankly, the single coolest and interesting artist of the year. She has an amazing mix of jazz, funk, hip hop and big band mixed in with songwriting so sharp you could shave with it (but not your danglies. watch out!) and that's nothing to say of her live show. Unbelievable stuff.

Yeah the various bat-people are kinda lame. They don't feel necessary; at least Nightwing got a new alias when he got too tall for the green speedos. He has a really cool look actually It carries across the right kind of imagery across from Batman and Robin costumes, but it looks different enough to be its own thing. Very cool. Shame about the mullet though... But if we're talking Robin graduates, Red Robin looks cooler It's very sleek but also practical- the belts and tunic make it look more like body armour while the cape ties him to the Batman legacy. I really like this one. ---- It occurred to me while I was reading X-Men back issues that they never *really* sorted Jean Grey out with a really good costume. to start with you have this: boooooooring! and You're called Marvel Girl. Fuck off, no wonder you nearly got cancelled, you dumb slut. Then this Things improve here but, well, the 70s wasn't the kindest decade. Just out of shot there's a fondue pot and a bowl of car keys. Then... Lets be honest, Jean, we're still not impressed. You're also too hard to find behind Simon Cowell's shit life on Google, you daft bint. Get a real code name. But wait! What's this? Surely not a good costume!? Oh my gracious! Not only is this Jean Grey in a super fucking cool costume- This is, in my mind, the single best female super hero costume design ever. It's even better than Silk Spectre's camel toe in the Watchmen movie. Respect, Marvel! Hell, it even comes with a good code name! I sure hope Marvel can keep this up! .....
