...and we're back. I've altered the title a touch too. I think the thread's remit has surpassed the boundaries implied by the LGBT tag (or indeed the BLT one) so this one seems a bit more up to date.

this just reminds me of an article The Onion did recently headlined 'I am under 18 button pressed for first time in history of The Internet'

Sony, by a country mile. Eyetoy, Singstar, Buzz and all of Sony's efforts in the casual field are the games that set the mould in which the wii currently fits nicely. in terms of actual gameplay, I don't credit much in Nintendo's favour. They may have made it easier for alot of people to play their games but only by producing a very basic control scheme and technology that's only letting them play pretty simplistic games.

haha Molly that's an awesome get up!

Been one of those...extremely game heavy days again. Mostly multiplayer though! I had a few games of Red Alert with a friend and caned a huge chunk of the deliriously fun final section of Gears of War 2 with my cousin. Then I watched The Thing. The Thing is awesome. last night was fun too. I went over to my mate's house to play some Settlers of Catan then it turned in to one of those very late nights as we ripped the piss out of the terrible Daredevil movie then watched some NFL which was fun as only 1 of the 4 guys in the room understood it and the rest of us were trying to learn the rules as we went. Turns out it's actually quite a good game. I'm planning on finding a bar in Sheffield to watch the Superbowl whenever it's on- though mostly because The Boss and The E Street Band are playing the half time show.

most anticipated movie of 2009 for me has to be The Road. Stars Vigo Mortensen- quickly becoming one of my favourite actors after A History of Violence and Eastern Promises Directed by the gringo behind The Proposition which is a truly excellent film that about five people have ever seen. It's going to be an incredibly tense bit of work if they stick to the superb source material. I checked the credits the other night and from the name of one of the characters they look to be including one scene that, to my mind, is the single darkest image of the apocalypse ever written. It should be great.

yeah all the stuff I have is sick. The Weapon X stuff is awesome. Not sure when it goes down hill (these things tend to eventually) but I always enjoyed it.

I just re-read The Tomorrow People- vol.1 (#1-6) of Ultimate X-Men this is really, really good. Millar's writing is perfectly pitched as modern, edgy and politically charged just as any good X-Men writing should be, and the art and inks are absolutely gorgeous. The new continuity gives a clarity and freshness to the core conflict between Xavier and Magneto that's always been a bit muddled in the normal Marvel Universe- with it generally being established later in to the continuity by several writers over time instead of by one at once. the only low point for me is in the last issue which features the single clumsiest bit of dialogue I've ever seen in a comic that Millar should really find embarrassing. Magneto lets off some kind of pulse of energy and causes a bit of a panic Colossus: Marvel Girl! What's Magneto doing?! MG:He's let off an electromagnetic pulse and taken control of every nuclear missile in the country, Colossus! What does it look like? I mean....wut? That's a direct quote for you there. Utter, utter pish.

I just finished The Road by Cormac MacCarthy (No Country For Old Men) This book is ridiculously good. Set some years after the apocalypse, a man and his son travel the road to the coast in search of a kind of salvation and safety, as such exists in the world they live in. MacCarthy's taunt, stripped down prose is perfect here; picturing a world long past the brink of total destruction. This isn't a society emerging from the dark to start over- this is humanity's last howl of feral despair before the engulfing nothingness of a secular, godless extinction takes the last scattered remnants of man forever. The destruction he imagines is total and irreversible, the depths to which the survivors sink to are unfathomable but at the same time there is a kind of hopeful humanity to the story in the relationship between the man and his child that comes through like the last candle light in the darkness. This is the best book I've read all year. I read it in three sittings.

Daredevil holy fucking shit. What a dump of a movie. I had fun watching it though as I was with some friends and slightly drunk and our commentary on the proceedings was awesome.

fucks sake people I deleted those on purpose. I swear to god every time I try and do some modding around here you lot just nose in and make me do it in public. I deleted the posts because they were offensive, against the spirit of the forum and about a personal matter. I've sent a PM to try and resolve it properly and come back to this crap back in the thread!

I do love good lyrics. That feeling when a song just gets it's hooks in to you and you know you can listen to it over and over and over again. For me, you just can't beat early Springsteen lyrics- he captures something utterly heroic in the desperate; exploring the dark edge of America. Perfectly set to the sound of The E Street Band too- that bluesy, grubby jazz based sound just works so brilliantly with his raspy vocals. It's just incredible.
