Switch got a new firmware update over night. Seems to have added some ARMS and Kirby avatars and now you can add people to your friends list that you know on Twitter and facebook, among a few other things. http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22525/p/897

I'm looking forward to the 3.0 update stuff later in April, but I am going to wait and see impressions for the expansion pack before thinking about purchasing it, as I found playing the single player stuff in Splatoon 2 a chore to get through, so having 80 more levels of it to play dosn't sound that exciting to me. It's great that they have supported this game so well though. Much like the first game, they've kept the game feeling as if there is something new every week or so.

It's a shame the DLC rumours turned out not to be true. Or if they are, they chose not to reveal anything about it just yet. I hope the latter is true because I'd love more content for this game to come out.

This was in the Japanese version of the direct

I woke up to see that Chrono Trigger was trending on Twitter. Then found out it was released on Steam out of nowhere and got excited. Then I saw everyone is unhappy about it because its a port of the ipad version lol The timeline on this twitter feed says it all: https://twitter.com/thatsmytrunks/status/968532390934188034

I've never walked out of a movie but the closest I came to doing so was Amazing Spider-man 2.

I'm finding this DLC strangely addicting. I keep checking to see if any of my balloons have been found every few hours

Yeah its quite fun, I was playing around for about an hour, hunting for Redshells Balloons and a few other random people. I hid one in every stage too. By the way, Luigi reacts differently to what Mario is wearing. You can pop the balloons on his back too

de Blob was so much fun. However, I remember disliking that you had to use motion controls to jump, because it wouldn't work around a third of the time for me. so a version without motion controls sounds great. Also, I loved that games soundtrack,

Yeah I think you would get £5 of credit for every 500 points you collected and one retail game gave you more then 500.

yeah I stupidly registered my copy of Splatoon 2 last summer so I have less gold points for that game then if I had waited. At the time I had not been paying attention to MyNintendo at all, and just assumed that if I can register for Gold Coins on my switch that there much be Switch rewards... I'm glad I didn't register Mario Odyssey at the time I got it. Quick question though, do you get gold coins for games downloaded from the eshop? I have Sonic Mania, Blaster Master and Wonder Boy Dragons Tale but I don't see anywhere I can get coins for them

yeah just saw the break down here: https://my.nintendo.com/news/3b6f1b22f4f656fe "If you pay £40 for a game on Nintendo eShop, you’ll receive 200 Gold Points. Next time, you’ll be able to use those points and save £2."
-
From the site: Starting in early March, you’ll be able to spend any Gold Points you’ve accumulated in My Nintendo when purchasing Nintendo Switch software from Nintendo eShop on your device, or even via this website! You can pay for the remaining balance with Nintendo eShop funds, or any other payment method available in Nintendo eShop. I guess it all depends how much Gold Points are worth but the fact that we can finally use them for Switch software now is good news.

I wish they were keeping the online gaming part free to play and just charging a subscription for some extra perks, like being able to send messages to friends, auto-invite and access to old games etc.

As much as I wish they'd supported the Wii U a little while longer, it was completely understandable that they didn't considering the sales it had. But looking back to their more successful console, the Wii, I felt like they abandoned it by the end of 2010. From there it was just a waiting game for Skyward Sword which only came out as late as it did due to several delays. It's weird to think the Wii came and went during the 360's lifetime and the 360 was still having a healthy amount of releases longer after. At least now it seems they will not completely move on once 4-5 years has passed
-
Yeah completely agree. For example I didn't get my Xbox 360 until early 2010, which was a good 5 years into that consoles life cycle. Not only was it still going strong at that point, it still had some of its best years ahead of it. In the end it was supported for more then a decade, which was fantastic. I like that Nintendo are going this route with longer support and it seems to be working out well with the 3DS.
-
I'd be very happy with that. For the past year or so anytime I've listened to gaming podcasts i've noticed that a lot of them seem to want the 3DS to be killed off and seem bothered that Nintendo are still releasing games for it but I feel the total opposite. I think its great that it gets supported after all these years and is a great budget handheld now. If in 6/7 years time the Switch is in the same situation I think that would be a good thing.

I play Splatoon 2 quite a bit but I'm not sure that'll still be the case by September, so I guess I'll see. I also think this date will slip again.

A bunch of new rewards were added to the My Nintendo program today. Still nothing for the Switch though... https://my.nintendo.com/news/66ac5989bcb539d6 Edit - seems they came out ten days ago, my mistake lol

i was thinking about doing the same but I normally regret it afterwards. I guess at least now, even if I end up disappointed with the Royal Rumble I have a month to watch through all of their old content on their network though. Last year I ended up watching through everything WWF did in 1991
