I tried watching Beast Wars as a kid and it gave me the cerebral hemmorhage that resulted in my overwhelming sense of rage. Not trying to be holier-than-thou because I loved Dragonball Z as a retarded child, but still, that shit stinks way less than Transformers, which could be considered the fecal equivalent of a hefty Cow pat to DBZ's fairly innocuous Pidgeon drizzle.

Why is this film being dignified with a thread? Bay is possibly the worst director working in films today, perhaps other than Uwe Boll, but that is entirely debatable, and to heap upon the mountainous pile of feces that is his reputation, we have Transformers, probably one of the worst childrens television programmes ever, designed only as a propagation of and a marketing scheme for janky ass toys. Is anyone genuinely excited for this?

Mariah Carey... would not normally give her the time of day, but for you Paj, I make an exception =p. I often find that any appeal that vocalists from what I call the "contemporary-homogenous" school of singing, (you know the school of technically-accomplished-but-slightly-devoid-of-personality, represented by Leona Lewis etc) comes from either the background music or singers. The songs are ostensibly sold on the strength of the leading vocalists vocal personality, which I generally find to be a bit lacking. What I did kinda like was the vocal harmonies, they were pretty sweet. The song reminded me of walking into Woolworths in the middle of the christmas shopping season. You have a weird thing with dance pop dude. Like, cudgel your eardrums with some thumping 4/4 beats Since we're speaking of someone who is sold partly on the strength of amazing backing music and vocalists:

Aston is a decent uni, Leeds Met isn't great. Although, it really depends on what subject you're doing.

That's really funny, because I thought season 5 was the best. All of the shows myriad aspects were drawn together so completely that it served as a fucking narrative orgasm. Season 4 was my second fave, followed by 1 and then 3.

I wasn't using substrate in terms of its biological meaning you silly =p. Considering that whatever enzyme this bacterium uses in place of pyruvate dehydrogenase is going to be different in that it will have arsenic integrated into its structure, maybe its just a different enzyme but with a similar or identical binding site. Either that or it uses an alternate metabolic pathway to respire, if that's possible. I don't know, not too up on my biochemistry.

Supposedly any element that can form four covalent bonds could be taken as an essential substrate for life, but if you look at the mass number of Silicon, its about 2.3 times greater than that of carbon which means those would be some fucking heavy set life forms. Anyway, this is cool. I assume that the search for life on planets was predicated on being able to locate what we deemed to be the "essential" elements for life in its atmosphere or surface, and this would now be subject to change, since phosphorus isn't necessarily essential any more. Wonder what this means for the rest of the components. As well as this, it means there's probably going to need to be some changes to our categorisations of life forms. What would be really interesting is if they managed to find some eukaryotes with this molecular makeup.

Watched American Movie recently, about some bum in small town America who has not a shred of talent in any department other than through sheer conviction being able to sell people on his batshit ideas for films. I don't know where he gets his artistic drive from, maybe its because nobody around him has the heart to tell him how god awful his shit is, but that's what makes it amazing and endearing. Him and his mentally retarded (literally) best friend, probably from doing too much PCP as a foetus, have an interesting dynamic... its just a great watch, although a bit depressing at points. Got halfway through Trekkies as well...I'm watching this in increments, as I can't bear to watch too much at a stretch just because of the pure wahjah and embarrassment and awkwardness and ohmygodthatdentistisdressedascouncillortroyandhiswifeisdata kind of insanity. I have a sort of itch that is only really scratched by watching socially imbecillic people form cliques and make fools of themselves completely sincerely and without any intended irony. Like that woman who went in full Star Trek costume to the Clinton trial. I'm really jealous of the way they just don't give a fuck. I've been told that I'd really like Darkon as well, a documentary about LARPers.

Dude, I find it really interesting that the demographic of this forum can be split in terms of how they think of Ikea. It's something that doesn't seem to evoke any emotion in me other than absolute boredom. Any way, I find it difficult to find that there is such a thing as a "fan" of Ikea. That's like saying you're a big fan of A4 Ruled Blotting Paper, or of Comic Sans...Or.. Raised lettering, pale nimbus... white. Impressive. Very nice. Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh, my God. It even has a watermark. It's borderline psychosis yo!
