Did anyone get seriously into the last two games in the series, or Xmen vs Street Fighter? Never played them outside of the arcade, but I can't wait for this. Apparently Yashinori Ono wants to work on a Darkstalkers reboot too, which would be fantastic.

What you forgot to preface this statement with is the fact that you're part of the Borg, and thus don't experience human emotions.

This should just be a collection of ReZ's posts in the "Best Movie Posters" thread.

I like this one a fuckton:

Because that's not generic in the least.

Are we talking about the one nearish Oxford Circus? I suppose its cause I've only ever been there for drinks, and places do tend to give something of a concession if you're buying drinks for a meal. But that's still expensive. Maybe I'll bump into you there one day .

Go watch Freddy Got Fingered, and then tell me that shit with a straight face.

Really? I didn't play Forgotten Sands, but I really liked the aesthetic of the reboot, it was fun even though it was far too easy, which removed any sense of exhilaration you got from completing a difficult platforming section. The best parts in last gen's trilogy was when you we're sustaining a continuous velocity and sense of momentum throughout the various obstacle courses, which were so well paced that there was rarely any frustration (at least where Sands of Time was concerned) but an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. I heard that Forgotten Sands was a poor shadow of the original Sands of Time trilogy, whereas, to me, the reboot didn't feel like so much of a bastardisation since it was so markedly different.

In light of that, Murr, I reccommend you don't read the books, they're significantly worse. The films were entertaining, but the books are absolute garbage.

Hopefully they fix all the bugs that rendered it impossible for me to actually complete the last two games of the trilogy. Been thinking of going back to play Sands of Time actually, see whether its falsely enshrined in my memory or whether it actually still is the best adventure/platform game I've ever played.

All Bar One is heinously expensive.

Its the sound of your friend's dipshit dad conjuring every cliche he can and miraculously condensing them into something that's reminiscent of nothing so much as midlife crisis.

Corrected for win

I really want to watch this and Boardwalk empire, but I have no TV and no internet at home =(. Someone in London want to house me while I sift through their DVDs

This is by far the best thing to happen to me all week:

Ariel Pink does music from the perspective of you as a kid sat in your parents car, completely mishearing cheesy rock singles from the 80's. Fantastic. Animal Collective are rad. Following what seems to be something of a trend on here: From one of the best metal albums ever made: Weedeater are a fantastic sludge metal band, for when you're in the mood to listen to something incredibly weighty, but still with a huge sense of fun. Still one of my favourite albums ever:

Estate Agents - or - A Good Case For Eugenics.
The Bard replied to The Bard's topic in General Chit Chat
What's hilarious is that the secretary was just sat there chilling with a cup of tea as if it was just another interaction with a customer . To be honest, I'm kinda scared to go back in there by myself. -
Estate Agents. You would think that the law of averages would dictate that bumping into a member of this profession that doesn't make you think they spent their formative years fervently studying and internalising Mein Kampf wouldn't be entirely out of the realm of possibility. But no. Fuck no. It seems like the agencies skim the scum straight off the cultural couldron. I went to the agency today to try and get back the deposit I left on my place of residence last year. A house which I had vacated six months ago, and for which, the documentation has been filed regarding final bills - all that shit was done and over, and we still hadn't seen a penny of the substantial sum that we had left in the care of these fuckers. The guy started shouting at me that it was nothing to do with him, that it was our fault we hadn't sent the appropriate documentation, and that he was unsure whether he could even "locate" our money at such a late stage. Of course, being slightly shell shocked I snigger let slip a "what the fuck?" At which point the douchelord physically pushes me towards the door, tells me not to laugh at him and to stop wasting his time. At this point, I am obviously worried, firstly about his mental health, and secondly whether this was just a defensive act to mask the fact that he had embezzled our shit and spent it all on blow and cheap hookers. So I say...fine, I'll go and collect the appropriate documentation, and come back. I leave, and phone my old housemate, who, funnily enough, had come the previous day and given him a copy of the council tax verification and water bill. I'd given him everything else. So, of course, I go back, and tell this to the guy, slightly pissed off, at which point he threatens to rip my head off. No shit. Why are estate agents, categorically, such gaping assholes? Should I file a police report? Should I leave a burning dookie on this man's doorstep? Have any of you had any such altercations?

Is that a sexual reference? Also, your last sentence should be used in the context of Doomsday, on Miriam Webster as an illustrative example of the word "wrong."
-
What are you talking about? Even the wankers on the site wouldn't drink that. That's worse than meths.
-
ReZ, why is everything that you do so psychedelically disattatched from reality?
-
Lol @ Slumdog. Edward Said and Orientalism say hi. Anyway, I'm not much of a movie guy, but me and my mate went to see this awful shit called Doomsday, which was some post-apocalyptic nonsense. Genuinely the worst thing I have ever seen. I would rather stare at meatspin for 90 minutes than watch that film.

Does this pertain to pacifism as a philosophy, in the same vein that "pragmatism" is a philosophy but is based on an ideosyncratic interpretation of the word "pragmatic"? Because I don't totally understand how totalitarianism is directly linked to pacifism, unless the so called pacifists are arguing that all human conflict arises from western democracy?

I guess my sense of humour leaves something to be desired . But you can't deny it gives a sense of comfort to take the piss out of someone else's problems when you've got it bad.
