Nah, Emo's are just contemporary greebo kids with fishnet fetishes and personality disorders. When I think Goth, the connotations are proper old school Bauhaus goths. I have something of a fascination with Goths, in so far as I find their preoccupation with macabre, grim shit interesting stylistically. Although not in the leather chaps and facepaint kinda sense.

The weird thing is, that the existence of the first game actually detracts from the sequel, in that you get the most out of 2 if you've experienced the first and so the outcome of the decisions you make have a direct resonance; unfortunately the first, while awesome at the time, is way inferior.

I'm really thankful that there's nothing on this year that tempts me, although that is entirely because I've spent stupid amounts of cash on that service over the last two years. It's such a weird mentality as well, to get something you normally would never pay for, just because its going for cheap, and as a result I've got somewhere near 30 games that I haven't even fucking touched yet =(.

He was great in a film production of Shakespeare's Tempest as Prospero (I think). Shame, he was really good in that. Only other thing I've seen with him in it is Usual Suspects. RIP Eco bro.

I've never got into any, and I tried Penny Arcade recently, but there's such a jarring gap between past and present, in that they've come such a long way artistically and in terms of the writing that I find it really hard to start from the beginning...which I have a sort of compulsive need to do... Bah!!

This looks pretty good. I think the humour is derived more from the narrative progression over several issues rather than in any single one. The one with the jet powered train leading into the cultists den was lol.

The new Kylesa and Arcade Fire records are pretty boss, but the two that have been battling it out for favourite album of this year as well as most playtime have got to be: Ariel Pink's Haunted Grafitti - Before Today Joanna Newsom - Have One On Me. Of note was also Ihsahn's new album, After, which saw the ex-Emperor frontman experiment with Saxophone solo's in fuckin black metal. Unreal, and very much encroaching on the boundaries of what Opeth are well known for. I expect next year will be a better year for metal; expecting releases from Mastodon, Nile and Opeth. Both absolutely phenomenal records. Its been a bit dry in terms of gigs, although I did see Baroness in January which was absolutely phenomenal. Drunkenly got up on the stage (which was barely elevated anyway) and started giving out hi fives to the whole band, who just didn't seem to be bothered in the least =p. Download fest was also cool, connected very much with the teenage metalhead in me =D. Not much else comes to mind, just perusing the oldies that I've never gotten into before, mostly.

The only great NYE experience I've had was the december of 2008 when I was in first year, and I had just gotten back to halls after first semester. There was only myself and a couple other mates, so we decided to suit up and have a bit of a poker sesh with cigars that my friend had brought back from Canada. Ended up about half a bottle of gin in, and then the guys next door invited us to have a spliff, which we did, and then headed off to westminster to check out the fireworks. The doob hit me on the way there, and I was so utterly shitfaced that I was borderline incontinent. Got there, and headed to the front of the riverbank so as to get a better view, and the only thing I remember from that point onwards is literally ducking my head into a womans open handbag and puking into it, incredibly violently, and then running away. Fell asleep on the tube home, and apparently a group of chinese people were putting hats on me and taking pictures: I would be up for doing something, but I've turned into a hermit and barely ever go out these days. Also, I'm in Saudi Arabia. So shits out of the question.
