Dude, I still play Melee whenever I have friends over. One of the best games ever made. Getting a craving for Cube, think I'm gonna spend the day playing through F-Zero GX again. Holy shit, if they make a version of that for the 3DS I will cream my pants.
-
Dude, the Cube had one of the best launches. I was so spoilr by that console. Even the original DS came with something reasonable substantial packed in; the metroid hunters demo, which I played endlessly with friends. I've pretty much bought every Nintendo console on launch since the N64 and been disappointed by most of em. Genuinely cannot wait for the Gameboy VC though, the fucking idea of it is getting me hard.
-
Oh I enjoyed it while there was actually something to do on it. And now there isn't, and I'm sad, and I wish Nintendo would stop fucking around, which is sort of a tall order since they've always operated on their own whims, so what can you do.

I think you and Pachter both might be mistaking correlation for causality, THQ were already in a bit of a slump. Sure, the critical reception of the game probably had an impact on shares, but then, perhaps THQ shouldn't have been riding on a company that had no real record of success previously. Frontlines was a similarly mediocre FPS. Moving on to review scores; the idea of "standardisation" is ridiculous. Each publication subscribes to its own abstraction, EDGE and Games TM for example asserting that 5 is their average, and others evading the question entirely because of the absurdity of having 7 as their average. Nevertheless, its just a number, and doesn't mean anything unless you're aware of the interpretational criteria surrounding it, and the only way you can do that is to have a grasp of the publication itself. Secondly, metacritic fails on this, because it assumes that the numerical values are standardised, when they absolutely are not. A score isn't a mathematical aggregate of the entertainment value of a game, and so homogenising scores that each have their own surrounding connotations is an absurdity the adherence to which is probably the most bizarre thing going on in the videogame industry. And unfortunately, I think its the videogame industry exclusively that pays such heed and weight to this meaningless bullshit, to its own detraction. PR handler's bonuses are dished out respective to the metacritic score of a game, implying that they should, or did have some influence. Shit is illin, son.

Yeah, didn't he refer to progression as "finishing a level?" And I was like, dude, worst game you could have picked for that line
-
You don't regret your purchase, even though the extent of your usage amounts to little more than a glorified pedometer? Phailyurr..
-
Absolutely no idea why I went and bought this. Twice. Haven't touched it for weeks, and there's barely anything on the horison that seems exciting, except a remake of a game that I've already completed far too many times, and will not pay full price to play on handheld. I guess I'm just waiting for the VC update, so I can get on Links Awakening, which I've been wanting to play again for the longest time.

But...thats precisely what I don't like about some comic artists; those that attempt to do no more than draw superheroes in vaguely warlike poses, flexing or looking mysterious, and don't try to communicate a sense of place or context. Half the story in Preacher or The Dark Knight Returns was told through the art, but in a lot of comics, some panels just seem interchangeable, like they're only there to provide a place for the text to go.

Yeah MK2 was fun, but it wasn't really a good fighter in the way that SF2 was. I'll give this a shot, maybe rent it for a couple days. Can you still rent games? I haven't done it since I was like...11.
-
I've heard nothing but charitable things about this game, so thus far my sceptical self is intrigued. If they do it right, this could be the first good MK game =p.

Ah fucking excellent, the art is one of the best things about Transmetropolitan. Also, just saw some Spider Jerusalem glasses on ebay. Was very tempted to buy =p. Being fairly n00b to comics, what are some peoples favourite artists? Really like the shit Charlie Adlard and Tim Sale do, in terms of composition, its really suggestive and moody, even though both have a a "thing" with faces. Dude that did Arkham Asylum is also rad.

Requiem for a Dream has to be the most fucking miserable film I've ever seen. Also it has that moist eyed emo poser Jared Letto in it. Seriously, the only thing he was ever good for is being hacked to pieces by Christian Bale. Good film though. Just saw Good Will Hunting. I loved.

So who's going to Sonisphere this year? Would be cool to meat up and play some drinking games/ have some shenanigans =D
-
Wait...Preacher was gone by Garth Ennis and Transmetropolitan was done by Warren Ellis. If its Ennis that did The Boys I'll def need to check that shit out, but Ellis is getting really fucking preachy and annoying. Especially if you read his Wired columns.

So, Long Halloween was pretty great, although has me questioning the choice of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle in the next film, not sure if she can veer far enough away from ditsy to be convincing. So, I'm gonna go for JLA next. Not sure about continuity issues etc, but whatever. Also: what do all y'all read here thats still good? (this question is not for ReZ )

Watching Public Enemies right now, and there is something about the cinematography (if that is the correct term) that feels really off for something thats supposed to be portraying Jazz Age America. Character's movements feel too jerky, the colour saturation feels off and so does the lack of film grain. It feels like certain scenes were shot using a handheld camcorder. Other than that, saw The Fighter last night, and was blown away. What a great film.

I am getting a first. Yay. May not bother finishing my dissertation now =p.

Isn't that Kirkman's series from before Walking Dead? I heard it wasn't too hot, but that was a few years ago. I'll give it a swing. Currently reading Rogan Gosh and some Grant Morrison comics. Also; love the fact that in The Dark Knight Returns, the Batmobile is basically a tank. Lolocaust.

Yeah that's it, stories that have an end somewhere in sight rather than being endlessly drawn out. I got Killing Joke, but I'll give the rest of those a shot tonight. Cheers
