  1. You could always go back and play any older RPGs you may have missed. I agree that The Witcher was missing compelling characters. Geralt wasn't very interesting and I really missed having companions who I could get to know over the course of the game. It made the experience a bit empty to me, but things may get better later on. I also always play RPGs on easy, but then that made the alchemy system - which is a big part of the game - completely pointless, so I may have to rethink that when I get back to it.
  2. Ugh, tell me about it. I just got a letter from my insurance company today telling me that I'm too old for youth insurance now. I feel like I should just lie down and await death. So enjoy being 23/24, kids. It's all over once you hit 25!
  3. I thought you were going to ask us to tell Mcoy that you loved him.
  4. Yes, but didn't we know that after the first episode? Napoleon Dynamite is apparently an animated series. And yes, according to Wikipedia, much of the cast will return, including Jon Heder. Charlie's Angels is a remake. It's going to suck, just like the original series.
  5. Oh, I'll definitely play it (eventually). I just felt like I should acknowledge that The Witcher 2 will likely be a good game and explain why I wasn't currently anticipating it the way I should. Though if this game is really good, that may give me the motivation I need to start the first game over.
  6. I'm still annoyed that NBC is continuing The Office without Steve Carell. I hate when TV shows I used to love are run into the ground. They already ran out of stories to tell two seasons ago. It's a shame about Lone Star, though. I heard amazing things about the pilot episode, but then it got canceled before I had the chance to even check it out. If they'd at least let them produce thirteen episodes, there might have been some closure. The only canceled series I watched this season were Running Wilde and Mr Sunshine, but while both were alright, I won't miss them all that much.
  7. Now those people deserve their own timely birthday threads.
  8. I still need to play the first game. I think I finished the first chapter before I had to stop playing. Since I'd need to play both games on my brother's computer, I've been reluctant to pick it up again/start over, as playing when he's not using his computer leads to a very fractured experience of maybe an hour a day. Not ideal for RPGs.
  9. I guess it's too late to wish anyone a happy birthday now.
  10. To be fair, I've been here for less than five months. You've been here for nearly three years.
  11. And I thought ReZ's videos were embarrassing.
  12. If you say so! I was just making assumptions. I've become really lazy about keeping track of when the TV shows I watch air. Seems like they just ordered the minimum amount of episodes they needed for syndication, then.
  13. Speaking of Star Trek, the original series entered syndication with only 79 episodes. 91 episodes should be fine for syndication, though I agree that making it an even 100 could only have helped.
  14. NBC should have just ordered a full season to make the show more attractive for syndication, but they're probably planning on using it as a mid-season replacement. Either way, I'm pretty pleased with the show getting enough episodes for syndication and I wanted it to end with season five, anyway. And I really didn't want the mess of having several endings that they've had the last couple of seasons.
  15. That was one of my least favorite episodes of the season. If you like that episode, you'll love the good ones.
  16. This is the last time I'm bumping up this thread. I don't even have much to say. I mostly just wanted to proclaim my love for the two-part season finale.
  17. You could literally say that about any game, though. "Superman 64 is better than some games that have recently been released." You could argue that games these days aren't as good as the games of yore until your face turns red, but it's a very one-sided argument if you're just going to bring up one obviously bad game (Max Payne 3). Try making the same point using Portal 2 as an example. I don't think people are looking forward to the re-releases of Ocarina of Time and Starfox 64 because there aren't any good games being released these days, period. I think the issue is that there's currently nothing else exciting on the horizon for the 3DS. Especially if you're just looking at Nintendo games, where we'll likely have to wait until at least the end of the year to get an actual new game. Hence why people are excited about thirteen-year-old games. Of course, it doesn't hurt that they're good games.

    Crush 3D

The trailer makes me wish Fez would finally be released. I remember reading/watching a review of Crush for the PSP ages ago. Guess there's not much point in getting it now that there's going to be a remake. I'll have to keep an eye on this. I'm really not a fan of the graphics, though. The design of everything looks terrible.
  19. The Princess and the Frog is a boring movie where two frogs (fine, people turned into frogs, but they're frogs for almost the entire movie) spend most of their time making their way through a swamp. Of course they're polar opposites, and one of them has to learn to be less selfish and more responsible, while the other one has to learn to let loose and to open up her heart a little. No bonus points if you figured out that they fall in love. A lot of it is just unrelated events that have no impact on anything and just serve to pad out the movie. The villain lacks any charisma and is probably one of Disney's worst. I honestly thought he was just going to be a side character at first. There's also way too much music and it's not very good, but I guess that's subjective, so meh. I do agree that the animation was great, but the way Disney acted like this movie's success (or lack thereof) would decide the fate of their classically animated movies was ridiculous, since the animation was the one thing the movie got right.
  20. Well, as Paj said, he acts like a middle-aged female US reporter, so he probably hasn't!
  21. It took me until late in the game, but as James said, that can be blamed on how bad the inventory was in the game. There was really nothing there that would have been overly complex if they hadn't messed up the inventory so badly. It was a breeze in the PC version. Arguing over what defines an RPG is pretty pointless, as it means different things to different people. If story and conversations are what make an RPG, then Grim Fandango is an RPG. If it's choice, then The World Ends with You isn't an RPG. If it's about "doing stuff", then every game is an RPG. I really don't think that putting all the blame on JRPGs for people associating stats and inventory management with RPGs is fair, though. If you look at older Western RPGs like Baldur's Gate, they were filled to the brim with stats and items/equipment. And I missed that in Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age II. It was simplified in Mass Effect, but at least many of the gameplay elements I've come to associate with BioWare RPGs were still there. As James said, there was no incentive to explore in Mass Effect 2, because at the most, you'd find some more money that you didn't need. The game was just "enter level, kill bad guys, level finished" (you weren't even allowed to switch out your weapons any time you wanted!). I know we're never going to get another Baldur's Gate 2, but I'm worried that Mass Effect 3 is essentially just going to be a shooter with a great story.
  22. I thought he was one when I had the video playing in the background. This would have been a lot less obnoxious if it had just been some random YouTuber.
  23. Don't. It was utterly mediocre.
  24. ... I just said I really enjoyed it? But yeah, it was great. Miles better than The Princess and the Frog.
