  1. Why's the bursary withdrawn?! You say £175 a month to live on - you need to break down precisely what that means. Nights out, of course, but what else? If you've already budgeted travel to uni and food, then that's roughly £40-45 a week to 'enjoy' yourself... Yeah it's not a great deal but it is do-able. You'll have to be selective with nights out, and really food-shop like a pr0. You'll need occasional money for toiletries... and mobile phone contract(s) you may have. I'd advise reducing any contract you have ASAP. And consider getting a part-time job. I totally could've done it a lot sooner in my uni career. There's a hella lotta free time, if you really need it. Honestly it's totally doable. I've lived on £200 a month which has included food, and it's fucking harsh but it is doable. You need to forgo a lot of social occasions. If you have a place to invite people over to then concentrate on doing that more than going out - or go out but just had a single drink/pre-drink more often. ... Otherwise yeah! Have fun :P This isn't the end of your life, this is going to be a good experience for you as to what real life can be like - shit hitting you from all sides. It will be long and tedious and unfair... but character building and all that schtoooof.
  2. Got a 17 4 keeper from youth -- replaced previous 19-4 from youth. Team's looking quite strong, should win this next game comfortably. I've not started using tactical subs yet....
  3. Cube; better be getting a bonus for that!
  4. First day of work! Six guys started with me, three left by lunch-time. Thing is, it's probably the easiest telemarketing job that can be done. Work with the dad of someone I knew at school and my line manager spotted the book I was reading and we had a chat about Iain M. Banks for a while. He also let me book two days of holday - including one this thursday. Had some good banter with some other colleagues, and the manager of the department knew both my employer and manager at my last place and we exchanged a few knowing words. THEN I get home and get a call from another job, this time permanent, for Comet - I didn't ask whether it was the admin or sales position, but essentially I couldn't make the interview day and am a little annoyed that two jobs come along at once. I said I'd give them a call if/when this temp job finishes (I'm told there's work 'til 28th of october, but it's clear that they'll keep on anyone who shows brains [me!]). A good start. here's waiting for the next payday - should be pulling in more money next friday than I've earned in the last 6 weeks combined, easily! Of course, a large chunk will go straight back out to the kind friends and family that carried me through the hard times.
  5. Spoilered the image as not everyone wants to see it :P (Looks more dislocated than broken. Gonna hurt in the morning!)
  6. What the actual fuck. Just found out that one of my mates busted up another of our mates. Dislocated jaw and a high probability that he will be permanently blind in one eye. MADNESS.
  7. You're mixing drinks and/or drinking on an empty stomach. Or perhaps dancing too much. Last option is that you're not pacing yourself efficiently... But then I've never experienced what you're saying so it's all hypothesis :P HA!
  8. Well heroijan, to be fair, we had no idea that there was any silencing possible, or that someone would die because of it, despite riddles seemingly solved perfectly fine. Whilst I applaud the latest riddle solution... still don't feel like I quite know what the game is all about. I guess we should make sure that we do a roll-call at the start of the next phase. folks.
  9. I was going to lol, but then I remembered I'm english, and this is a tainted event for me whether I want it or not. (didn't watch it, just heard bad things)
  10. He's not against gay rights, he's hyperbolically (word?) saying that politicians have spent their eleciton spin energy on waffling about issues that are in a way secondary to the finances, that if the same politicians who promised better rights for all had admitted at the time that they'd do what they've done to the fiscal situation of america then even the pro-gay and pro-marijuana sections of society wouldn't have voted for them.
  11. Final three should remember teh positioning last season. Hurricanes are showing the most consistency, team-wise. Flink; very pleased you're enjoying it I'm going to pretend that our draw boosted your confidence and maintained your level of interest. Truth is I didn't set tactics, and it's a dirty stain on my record this season. The return leg, I promise you fireworks. CATHERINE WHEELS OF BRUTALITY AND SPARKLERS OF WRATH!
  12. Forums are back! First post! :P
  13. Manflu'd. This is the third day - last night = fever dreams, today dizziness and nearly passed out. But the worst bit is my massive nose just using up all my energy to make an endless stream of snotty, phlegmatic mucus that is using up all my bog-roll.
  14. Gottajerb! Full-time 9-5 telemarketing again. Will be maintaining my part-time job as well, for extra in-your-faceness.
  15. Not conceded yet :P First game in liek two seasons I rested my main keeper -- played a 19-4 who actually perfromed only a 3... but of a worry...
  16. I'll bet there'll be spin-offs!
  17. Was that a volunteering post?
  18. Ima gonna go ahead and pass. UNHAPPY BIRTHDAY! Y U NO POST HERE ANYMORE?!
  19. (Sorry about thread closure madness Iun!) I like that Jobs protected his private life. I like that apple were vanguards and took the fight to microsoft, and ate sony territory up with their iphone, while never actually directly competing with nintendo! I believe this makes him a saint on our forums.
  20. We'll roll with the new thread for this. Sorry bubba

  22. Had a day of whimsical-cum-philosophical conversation with my lovely lady, in between crossword, jigsaw, wordsearch, trashy tv and the most imitation-spag-bol I've ever seen. Turkey mince, rice spaghetti. Madness. Then went to see one of my favourite plays (i.e. 'a play I have read') - Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead. Read the play, watched the movie, stole the questions game, so this had to be done. So intrinsically full of questions, and leaves me pondering more great whimsical-cum-philosophical things. The other day I found some leftover passes for free travel on first capital connect trains, so I'm going from one end of the line to the other to visit my cousin I've not seen for about 18 months (he's the black sheep of the family -- if you've met me then you know that's a surprise!) because of a recent facebook status he made that suggested he has no family. Pragmatic dogmatism, that's the key! And lots of exclamation marks help, I've found!
  23. I will do better than agreeing to disagree - I will back down gracefully :P I'd make an awful referee. I'd just say "oh get on with it" and book everyone who falls over.
  24. Yeap. Not posting his role got me worried, and peeps mentioning alignments in the PM followed by a wink or something... Gah! I do love being one of the 'neighbours' role. Interest is maintained and effectively I can use the shared forum as a multiplayer notepad.
  25. Hobos be busy earnin' their time and dirt, bro. YOU'RE JUST A FAUXBO!
