The "if I was a parent..." line of thinking is a good one. I have experienced that mind-mush haze after a 7-hour OCD splurge on Fallout 3, and the shivering frustration at playing online games that can sit at the back of your head. Also the addictive nature of some games creeps in to non-gaming time, and sometimes I feel like saying "alright stop speaking! Stop talking to me. Leave me alone so I can go and play De Blob 2! I just got two more collectibles to find!" and that makes me realise how out-of-proportion I can treat games... if that makes sense? I think gaming and other forms of entertainment should be part of a varied and balanced routine. It's important with kids to make sure they understand that playing games is a treat or a reward rather than an entitlement, and yes - I also agree with people that books are hugely important. TV though? Too commercialised and too much shit (the stuff my cousin watches is stuff I don't want my daughter watching - stuff about fashion and dance moms and princesses. But that's the basis of another thread).

RIP: Sony Liverpool... UPDATE: Studio now Firesprite
jayseven replied to gaggle64's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Can't they just... let the devs find their own legs and keep the name, or anything like that? Just shutting them down and shitting on the good name and memories seems... harsh, dude. -
I generally only play games once I've done everything else I'm supposed to do, which is why I don't play 'til after dinner. My cousin can't play games 'til he's done his homework/revision; it's his reward, yet he's made to feel guilty about it which is greatly unfair because my other cousin gets to watch tv all day while doing her homework (the first cousin can't watch tv at the same time, he gets too distracted). @Coolness Bears Unemployed: "When are you going to get a job?" Part-time: "When are you going to get a full-time job?" Full-time and part-time job: "When are you going to get a real job?" If you feel bothered, perhaps put on a suit and take a briefcase for a walk around town. I'm sure plenty of folk you see are doing just that.

Let's try and get the juices going. Every weekendOnce a month I will post a stimulus - it may be a picture, a song (with lyrics), a news report, etc. The challenge is to produce a creative response in a manner that you deem suitible. Ideally the responses will be short stories, but a poem or a 'novel etract' will be just as good to read. If others have ideas for challenges or stimuli then we can do those too - I'd like to be challenged as much as the next person. Any thoughts? Any interest?

Keep getting silly ideas but not expanding on them enough - arguing with myself before pen hits paper about how to approach it... Essentially I'm told "you must write about what you know" and because I feel like I know nothing, I therefore have nothing to write about. But it serves as an excuse for anything I do; "I'm just adding to my future portfolio of experiences from which to write my bestsellers." I did 12k words on a post-apocalypse idea that needs a complete overhaul. But I think the idea of actually writing would be good. TO THE CREATIVE GALLERY FOR A NEW GAME WE CAN ALL PLAY! A lot of actors don't want to be typecast - but those that allow it can get away with some great films -- think of Last Action Hero or Jingle All The Way - both take a new approach to a used idea, and both utilise Arnie's action past excellently - the archetype action hero idea is played with, and subverted, and just adds that gleaming layer. It's like Jim Carey when he did more serious films, like Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine - our perception of him as a funny guy helped add depth to the already thoughtful concepts. I love how Jason Statham goes from Lock, Stock to a whole plethora of generic action movies (via Kelly Brook) to the extent that he gets recognised as a legit Expendable. But the weirdest thing with Arnie is how films try to explain away his accent all the time...

I play xbox most nights from about 7-10, maybe 30 mins earlier, maybe 30 mins later. 3-4 hours a night if I'm lucky, but usually at least 2. Last night I started at 7.30 and finished before 9.30 and my cousin acted with mock surprise at seeing me away from the xbox. I mimed conviviality, and sat down in front of the TV with her for 20 mins. She had been in front of the TV since before 3pm. She took a break for dinner, but returned to the TV. Easily six hours the nights she's in. Her dad also frowns down upon gaming, yet you will find him in front of the tv 'to relax'. So why is it so bad to choose to game? At least I'm not dealing with commercials all the time (and may that cancer cease spreading from the dash and into games...) and I'm problem solving and actively using my brain. Recently we (@Cube) were talking about the role of gaming in a relationship. My girlfriend doesn't game, despite my best efforts. She TVs. She also has a downcast view on gaming. I definitely reduced my gaming while she was around - though retrospectively I could've done more. But then... I'd have to watch shitty tv, so why waste my life? To those who live with family and spouses who disapprove; how do you deal with their turned-up noses? Do you argue? Being on a gaming forum perhaps it'd be a little biased a response, but I'll ask; am I right in thinking that TV is worse?

4-0? Good to be back. Against that loser ReZ, too? Ha! Looks like the Submarines have nothing to be blue about - stonking team performance, definitely the team to beat. I only managed 2 in the x11 but that's certainly better than nothing. Got to start stoking the fires, get some steel back into these Blades! Ooooof. Worst part about returning is to find my money pot is DIRE. 1.5m? Awful. Any funds I had pre-disappearing have vanished with the 300k taken for youth. Oh very dear.

7. Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe One of the finest games ever made. I feel like 8. might be Point Blank or a similar lightgun game..?

We will learn more with the lynch then if we leave it be. Vote: Lynch Eevilmurray P.S. is this a new part of the mafia vernacular - defining the vote to be one of lynching quality?

Probably be just as aimless and clueless as I am now, but with added panic. I am trying to methodically situate myself in such a state... but I think I'm like Eddie but in the sense that I've not really really accepted that I'll live past my 20s yet. Part and parcel. Anyway, the important question is what are you planning to do to us all in 10 years time Daft?!

Yeah, I looked it up. Sadface. This film will either be awesome or awful. It has no middle ground possibilities. which makes me even sadder because I know it's going to be bad.

@Hero\-of\-Time let me know how lollipop plays? I enjoyed Shadows of the Damned very much, but it was certainly flawed.

Tactics SET! First time in ages. My team is in shambles, so the only way is up. Let's do this! Your OP was absolutely epic, @Haden. A lot of heart went into it, clear to see for all. I want to thank you for your tireless efforts to keep my playing - I owe it to you to persevere here!

Just reading the BBC article about Song's transfer. Does this mean that Barca would have to pay £63m to Arsenal if they try to sell him on or what? I don't really pay any attention to contracts so I have no idea.

Meta spirals! I did try and write a long reply then realised that's the joke so stopped. Intention =/= harm. I am Lennie. Opinions are mice. I love them so much I end up squishing their little brains right out of their eye sockets, then sad because they won't play anymore.

Counter-Strike: Global Offense (PC, XBOX 360, PS3) - 2012
jayseven replied to CoolFunkMan's topic in Other Consoles
Playstation Plus users get trial automatically if auto downloads are on. Can only find a video to DL on the XBLA marketplace, so I have no idea if there's going to be a trial version for the 360. Anybody know? I played CS:S yeaaars ago but only ever at a friend's house, so I know de_dust, but suck. I'm giving thought to getting Gold again for this... but it'd be a big investment wasted if I don't liek. -
Condescending is what I do with a screen between me and people. I have a habit of trying to clarify myself, which further makes it seem like I'm obnoxious whereas it's simply that I'm not good at expressing myself in teh first place. Sorry if it's the last straw.

Knoville's going to be the Jar-Jar Binks of this, isn't he? And was that Emily "Bones" Deschanel? Nice to see the film appreciate the co-stars, eh? :P

We have a teeming thread full of people agreeing that it's quiet. It's like people sitting in a traffic jam unaware that they are part of the traffic jam ("Sorry, I'm going to be late for work. I AM TRAFFIC"). @Happenstance I was soapboxing as much as I was replying directly to you, and I have to use lots of words to say stuff. Initially I said "Any ifs or buts you have... Could they not have replied those as well as thanking?" To which you replied "but... if..." so I figured "hey, he's either not reading my post or I'm not being clear here. I'll go with the majority vote and assume I'm being dense, and I'll write that new chapter!" So I go and spew words which, due to taking longer, means I hit on a few tangents as I go and then they come to the fore and any anger I get from thinking about them APPEAR IN THE FORM OF OBLIQUENESS AND CAPS LOCK! Perhaps the thanks button brings out the lazy in us, but the amount of shitty replies that don't further the topic versus the occasional "and now for something completely different" is huge. Don't you hate clicking a thread link and the reply is "lol true" ...? That's all done in my above post. It's long and 'blown out of proportion' because I disagree with you and I don't like disagreeing with people because that means one of us doesn't understand the other and it could be me but it could be you. It's not an attack at you. @Goafer I don't know whether I want to slap you or doubt what you are saying... Also you picked a bad time to stop posting, and a worse time to start again.

1. I have been on this forum many-a-year. I have experienced the specific "lol I have nothing to say but I want to say somethiing" posts 2. Coming up wth substance is always a good thing, ja? 3. Looking busy is far more important that being busy. 4. lol. People aren't joining the forum because this is a nintendo forum, and nintendo have made it their entire purpose to exclude the sort of individual who would normally spend their social lives online. The real reason this forum is sucking is not to do with the people who are here already, it's more to do with Nintendo's approach to gaming this generation! This generation is the longest so far. This generation has the most females. The most grandparents. The most non-forum-user gamers. The biggest change since n64-europe has been the fact that most people who play on the nintendo consore ARE NOT TEENAGE BOYS. Stop blaming ANY facet of this website and start looking at the fucking industry. This site was founded on 13 year old gamers. Modern 13 year old gamers would not be seen DEAD with a wii. If we change this to a MW3 forum then perhaps we'll see the sort of buzz that you're demanding. tl;dr: let's fucking blame nintendo this time.

People getting mad over things you don't get..

If he has a no frape policy within his house, then that's probably what pisses him. It seems to him that you are under his house's juresdiction here! -
All words or just thanks. What do you want? I like words.
