  1. just watched Clockwork Orange. Read the book recently, and the film is suitably loyal to the original story... But it is a little dated - sure, the first act is speedy and provides a decent frist 45 minutes, but I kept looking at my watch waiting for the 131 minutes to be up... No fault to Kubrick mind - the direction was excellent. I think it was mostly the pacing of the film that got to me (as in the book), with the violent part of Alex's life being over rather quickly, and the whole "society is rubbish" bit afterwards with Frank (i think...) too slow and overacted. I can't really think of an ideal situation to watch the film in - All the naked ladies and the whole "this film is deep" message you get from the director's name mean it's not really a group film. ... so it gets a 7/10. I know my 'review' was mostly negative, but its influence and role in british cinema since the release should be considered for the score
  2. lol... "partner"... I have two recurring motifs at the moment. One is I keep having something stuck in my finger, like a large splinter or piece of led from a pencil completely under my skin. The other is swimming, or at least being near a swimming pool. Dreams where I'm naked used to be combined with a feeling of "OMG I AM NAKED AND THERE ARE PEEPOL!!" and now they come with no real positive or negative emotion - Like I just happen to be naked, and it has no importance or meaning. Once had a weird dream about jumping out of a flying train and 'swimming' down the high street near my house, seeing giant crabs on spider webs and slugs, and no road just stars, and all the shops sold completely opposite things - like love, hate, hope, fear, and so on. When I was younger I dreamt my sister was a hamster and I accidentally hoovered her :|

    Fate

Charles Gunn in Angel series 4 said something I liked; Fred:Will it make a difference? We really are just pieces being moved around a board. Gunn:Then we'll kick it over and start a new game. Look, monochrome can yap all he wants about no-name's cosmic plan, but here's a little something I picked up rubbing mojos these past couple of years. The final score can't be rigged. I don't care how many players you grease, that last shot always comes up a question mark. But here's the thing—you never know when you're taking it. It could be when you're duking it out with the Legion of Doom, or just crossing the street deciding where to have brunch. So you just treat it all like it was up to you—the world in the balance—'cause you never know when it is. .. So yeah. I like that philosophy - that there is fate, and there is free will. It is fated for you to be guided towards certain choices in life that you do have to choose yourself - but you don't know which choices are made by you or fate.. That kind of thing.
  4. .. yeah i was gonna say it's on the official soundtrack. That was my 'reward' for passing my 2nd year at college. WAY TO GO MUM.
  5. Hair straighteners have a real THUMP to 'em. my girl is a bit weird sometimes - she is real fussy about sides, and she can't get to sleep unless she's on my side of teh bed on top of me, which leaves me staring at the single-bed space on 'her side' wondering Chandler's eternal "you could fit a penguin over there". A Warning to all forumites; rolling asleep people is very dangerous, not only for teh chance of crushing one of their limbs, but also there's a large chance they'll wake up and KNEE YOU WHERE IT HURTS.
  6. Yeah I'm teh same - I find it way easier to stay up than to get up. I could probably lie in bed all day, but really if I get up, I can stay up. My girlfriend gets ready for work at like 7am, and so her radio comes on, followed later by a hair dryer then hair straighteners - all of which I half-sleep and half-awakely just lie through. In the middle of the other night, I woke her up and said to her "you're on my nice list" in my sleep. What's your best position to sleep in? Mine's face down, arms under my pillow, head to one side. If I'm on my side I like to have the duvet in between my legs, and I don't know why.
  7. I've watched a fair few eps I think the audition rounds are over now, though. Great show - ITV have some good stuff on at the moment what with that 24 hours with... show thing and the hardest gig show that was after Talent last night.
  8. well hey, cold war anyone? The US had nukes in europe aimed at moscow like 50 years ago. It doesn't surprise me that they're still there. I did find it strange when the only footage of Putin's speech was him apparently telling german reporter to speak proper german, or something. But then, there wasn't any footage of any of the other leader's speeches except the german one, for some reason. Sigh... international politics is too big and crazy to understand.
  9. ... yeah. I Dunno? But after that comes years 1-11, three years at college, a year at uni... So it figures.
  10. To be honest, I don't see anything new on these boards in regards to bitching and ass-kissing. Just different sigs are attached to the guys who do it today than the guys who did it several years ago. ... I've tried to write another paragraph here like three times, but ultimately all I have to say is that who really cares :/ This used to be, like, my life! I used to come on here, post like 30 times a day... But now I average less than a post a day. The arguments don't phase me, it's more about the average thread quality. Either they'll be about meaningless things, or stuff I don't like, or already 5 pages long so I can't be arsed to catch up and check that my point hasn't already been made. SO yeah... Uh... Dunno. Carry on
  11. first week of reception, a girl called Daisy or Lucy or Louise or something (hey, give me a break, this was like 14 years ago) came up to me and said "do you want to be my boyfriend?", and after I said "ok" she walked off. We played doctors and nurses and weddings and stuff for a few weeks. Then we got a new girl in our class, and I remember telling my mum when I got home "when this new girl came in the room I thought she was an angel" :S Next girlfriend came in year 8. Didn't last a week. She's a lesbian now! score. A few years and a couple of dead-ends, got with my current lady friend. Will be two years in a couple of weeks
  12. Well I personally don't think the bands listed are particularly trying to be that scene - senses fail will be big in a year or two i'm sure, so enjoy them while you can!
  13. well I would say senses fail are in the veins of Hawthorne heights. so place as you will. The other two are as you say 'actual emo' - although I don't read kerrang but i imagine MCR fit in there or something. Just check em out and correct me :P
  14. well you probably won't like senses fail. They're Emo. You might like silverstein, but to be honest I'm just trying to download the music I liked 2 years ago and I can't really tell for sure who is who. Saw Alexisonfire at Reading fest last year - they were pretty awesome
  15. nearly bought a few Police albums, Silverstein, Alexisonfire, Senses Fail, Eighteen Visions CD's today. Totally would have gotten my Emo on with all that. Figured I'd just download it all instead! Hooray!
  16. That DQ place is literally 30 seconds away from where me and Shorty live! Thursday's Jungle Night is the only night there I've enjoyed - but then, I generally hate clubs, and I've only been to DQ three/four times.
  17. ... And you said "we don't really have the same music tastes"... Ask her yourself, dude :P she'll suggest plenty.
  18. Sheffield Hallam Uni team, boys. Get off at the station and you'll see the building. ... Or I could tell you which school I went to, but I'm sure you guys aren't into that?
  19. Well every rugby player I've met from year 9 upwards seems to be in on a big joke where you pretend to be gay with your fellow rugby players. Such activities include dry humping, dry gangbangs, naked training, naked rugby. I don't think I really 'get' it. I suppose it's male bonding...?
  20. Rugby players in general all like to show just how comfortable they are with being straight and surrounded with other rugby players by being gay. Fact.
  21. aye - Choke is, like, the theme to the game. Good soundtrack with that game Reminds me that I first listened to Element Eighty because of Need For Speed Underground. Gotta love Pancake Land.
  22. I know what you mean - and to be honest I never used to like those conversations with mates where "phwoar look at 'er arse mate! I'd bang 'er"... But one of the guys I was talking about in my thread... Well I think being gay is a problem when that becomes the only way anyone can define you as a person. He is the sort of guy who needs to remind you that he is gay in every conversation we're having, and it's not homophobic to want someone to just shut the fuck up once in a while.

    Smoking

I'm guessing so! Well I'm staying with my girl for about 10 more days - she's off doing work experience until 5pm, so if you're in town and up for a midday drink, give me a bell. We could have some awkward pints, then one of us can make an excuse and leave :P
