  1. I've just been finishing the latest series of 4400, and it's a shame not many people have seen this show - it started a couple of years before Heroes, and shares many similar ideas, mostly the whole super-abilities thing. If anyone is bored waiting for the next episode of Heroes then I whole-heartedly recommend the 4400 for viewing!
  2. I vote Mundi. He housed Stuwii, and stuwii died!
  3. I don't think mohinder ever met the haitian so it wasn't pre-ordained. I like the idea of the haitian being involved with peter's loss of memory, but so far I've felt like there's a lot of coincidenced hanging around... the whole first series had the same feeling except it involved more sort of "it is meant to happen" sort of feeling, whereas this time several characters have been a bit too lucky to find themselves where they are - like the box that irish guy (who was in fight club!) showed peter, or the old Takeo guy dying, or whatever. I don't know. I'm still really looking forward to the series as a whole, but this sort of weakness is a bit annoying. I think maybe because I don't know where it's all heading towards (as opposed to the nuclear thing in series 1), i can't tell what's significant or not. I think that Hiro's period in the past will end up going on for more episodes than necessary, considering surely he could've reappeared in the present at whatever point he chose. The bad guy ought to be slightly (at least) revealed next episode to provide some sort of aim, and the latino twins ought to arrive in the us in 2 episodes to avoid their only implication being a new-york-plague. I guess I can't see what their use to the 'good' would be, either. Maybe the guy's healing ability could help mohinda's shizzle. I dunno. Rambling a lot, I know, but to be honest I'm still loving the show, just annoyed that I got to wait a week each time to see more. And sylar! When will we see him again? Will we have another "episode 20" awesome episode at some point?
  4. Awww... c'mon! Make this debate more interesting. I'm sorry I tried to label you as a theory-follower - I just meant for you to lead with your own beliefs and follow them with proof. I love this sort of debate. I love wondering just how different these perspectives all are, i mean just what would it take for a philosopical theory (in particular) to be granted irrelevant?
  5. As a constructivist, isn't it impossible to prove the existence of other sentient people? I mean you can prove to yourself that there are other people walking around, but you can never prove that they have an active mind, can you? Could that not lead to the idea that the entire world, if not the universe has been put in place just for you, because (as you know yourself) you know you cannot and did not create the universe, but at least what you perceive to be out there exists. So therefore, must not there have been some higher power that created the universe as you know it? The universe is just a field of energy, and our minds, our perception of what is real and what isn't is just one ripple in it, and it only makes sense because the ripple itself could not exist if it didn't - the engergy would not be 'solid' enough to be a ripple if what it creates is not possible. But there's no telling whether time is the flow, or if it is still just the drop, or if when you wake up tomorrow you're still the same person you were yesterday, and that your 'memories' ever actually happened, and all you can trust is the present - the infinitely insignificant moment that is occuring in the now, the transitional past, could be all there is. There is no way of disproving that.
  6. aha, so a slightly more personal response! Well I can assure you, this is not planet academy, so no need to be so upright about it all. I think your discussions have always been intriguing, which is why I am prompting you to further them - and I know you don't study philosophy - you're on my facebook The point is, as you just showed by discrediting DCK, you are not competently arguing against others and what they are claiming because you yourself are not supporting your own opinion. The people on this internet you talk of aren't including me - I enjoy a well-read discussion. I am merely pointing out that 'truth', as you define it, is undefined, and that you need to define your argument before you start saying someone else is misunderstanding you. Personally I do not believe myself to be highly educated in the world of philosophy - it's a pet interest i've had for a few years that i've totally neglected recently, but I know what I know. I can only debate with you if you choose to define what you are talking about, because I would rather not have to spend several hours uncovering what the hell you're talking about!
  7. what an awesome topic to talk about something totally personal - something worth stalking to ... SO yeah. To be honest, my first 2 or 3 times I was pretty drunk... So I don't count them. My first proper time (and this is all with the same girl) was brilliant. Awesome. One of the best ever. I was so aware of the importance of it - I am one of those people who believes sex is a meaningful thing, anyway - that I loved every minute. I don't regret it at all.
  8. Happy thing where I can post the same thing as everyone else day!
  9. I hope you mean Groucho... I don't have a problem with who you use in a quote, just how the way you speak tends to come accross as artificial; a construct of what someone else has thought rather than your own opinion. Surely, as a practicing philosophian (or man of science and maths, too), you are aware that you need to define your terms before you start throwing them around? Again, this is why your posts read as if you don't really know what you are talking about even when I am sure you do. Define what you call a truth, or an untruth before you make statements such as "show me one!", for surely i could hold up a single finger and say "presto", and that would be a better argument than what you have presented so far! QEE meboy!
  10. shit, yeah i knew it was! Was pretty early... I'll be watching the others soon. Watching The Crawling Eye as we speak... MST3k baby!
  11. I would like to vote for Welsh_Gamer because everyone else is. ... AND HE VOTED FOR ME! B'stard.
  12. ok, watched the hikaru specials, listened to all the music and read all the manga WHAT IS LEFT!
  13. Heman Against The Moon Men SANDSTORM NOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooo... Awful. 0/anything Hobgoblins A fight involving a guy called kevin with a rake. Man gets set on fire. o.5/10 I defy anyone to see these films and disagree..
  14. Are you agreeing or disagreeing with Haden? Don't be vulgar now! It often seems that you only have typical or even common things to say... As some dude said...
  15. i have some less-sick jokes... How do you make a door laugh? Tickle its nob! How do you make a pool table laugh? Put your hands in a pocket and tickle the balls! How do you confuse a gay person? Orange! .. See? They're funny because they're so very bad. I'm sorry to say but I did laugh at some of these jokes in this thread. In a way the joke itself is a joke - not like some paedophilic necrophile seriously sat and wrote out what you see here. I also find it curious that it's only the racial jokes being picked on... And curious too that there aren't any white person jokes being posted in reply. I can understand that offensive material is often offensive, but sometimes it's better to not get offended by a joke that isn't even aimed at you, or offended at how someone else is. Sometimes it's best not to go into a thread you don't like, too. Like how I don't go into the Wii board!
  16. you notice one of the irish guys who opened teh crate was in fight club?
  17. well it sort of strikes me as possible :P even if it wasn't the intention of the universe, i could imagine humans eventually furthering all sorts of technology and having a go at making their own species. I bet we would.
  18. ok so UNIVERSE! time for my crappy stoner idea. Can't remember if i posted it. Basically, it's more of a teleological standpoint... kind of. y'see, infinity and everything dictates that there was no beginning and there is no end, which suggests to me that whatever process occurred to produce the beginning of the universe is one that will happen again in the future. Of course hawkins says something about what created the universe cannot actually be a part of the universe (actually it sounds more like something plato said...), so maybe what occurred before the 'big bang' was a universe with different rules and whatnot. Now, again, a reminder that i do not seriously believe this theory, it's just a fun one to imagine. The universe was created almost like a test - the creator wanted an equal, being all bored being everything and all. So the universe is made as a learning ground for some sentient being to evolve a talking buddy. the evolution curve has shifted, for us humans, from physical to technological, and eventually the rate of returns will be insanely quick - look at the periods of time were our civilisations evolved, the time periods are getting shorter and shorter. Technology better and communication more efficient. ... so yeah, insert an ellipsical, nonsensical gap here nad skip to the part where we somehow blow up the universe and start it all again. not a very good explanation but I don't care. I can't remember the better details.
  19. THe thing is, guys, is that this UK kid is like 12. He's probably smart for his age, but he cannot escape the naivité of his youth! He's not an idiot, he's just a bit ignorent. I agree his arguments suck, which is why i try not to actually get into them with him.
  20. Oh, should I start a new thread? Because I was thinking of having a cigarette but wasn't sure if you guys would GIVE A CRAP.
  21. gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. Got a 'welcome back! now prepare to hate yourself for the next 9 months!' lecture tomorrow at 10am. According to my recent sleeping habits, that gives me about three hours of sleep
  22. Just watched 75 eps of Hikaru No Go in about 3 and a half days! Loved the anime. Hated the promise of an interasian Go tournament that we don't get to see What to watch next?
  23. spamplusonebirthday!!
  24. the guy with the hood didn't seem too comfortable wearing it - he was feeling his way around...Still, it was a very purple hood - if he was wearing the hood to protect himself from Sulu's powers or something then I don't think it would have been such a distinctive feature. Clearly there's some big picture of all of the older 'heroes' someplace... And I'm hoping the peter thing really isn't as generic as it at first appears! And that flying kid, well surely that's not his only ability. Wheeeee can't wait for next week
