Written 3,300 words today! ... but only 150 of which are actually eligible for the elusive title of My Essay so far... NURG. BLAP. FRUBBIT! On my third can of relentless. got two litres of coke, too, and a shop that should be open should I run out within the next three hours. Be over already, essay! Not going to get a great score for this... Yup, I rock. Or at least Fable 2 does... Come dance with me?

Have you checked your module guide, or your blackboard site? The assessment criteria is pretty much sorted out months before the course begins in order for the modules to be passed as acceptable to be taught. But anyway, an essay on a single poem is no biggie :P I think university is about applying your own knowledge of a text rather than regurgitating what you've been told in lectures and seminars. My best essays have been on novels/plays/poems that we hadn't covered yet. If you'd rather do what I have to do... an essay on some other dude's essay, applying it to a bunch of novels I haven't read... then I'd gladly swap!

My essay is annoying me. Each paragraph that I read of the essay I'm writing on leads me to ramble on for 500 words about nonsense - then I go and read a couple of other essays on postmodernism/hermeneutics/metaphoric realism to find I've essentially paraphrased THOSE essays before I've even read them. On the one hand that's good for referrences, but bad for showing the teacher how damn clever I am Really think I should've taken philosophy.

So here it is! First essay of my third year, and clearly I haven't changed a bit. Got about 28 hours to write it. Main thing is the reading/researching side of things... Will be making a trip for caffeine at some point. Just got to make sure Gears 2 doesn't tempt me -- luckily Shorty and I made a deal to progress in co-op first (although I'm pretty sure he only did that because he knew he'd be gone for a few days and didn't want me completing it before him) which means it's not really too distracting.

Shorty and I have been playing co-op - probably racked up around six hours so far? We jumped in on Hardcore mode and we've met some seriously annoying moments of almost trial-and-error where the game hasn't been as intuitive as the first one was, but I've appreciated the level design's increased focus on co-op mode. I had a quick run through on casual mode while I was waiting for my tea to cook and it's utterly ridiculous how easy it is. You can effectively run through the levels without stopping, or just stand there with four dudes shotgunning you and take all of them out with a single clip. As for boomers... No fear :P Hoarde mode... man! I've had a couple of goes on single player on normal and hardcore and haven't gotten past wave 6. But then, I've only been playing on avalanche. I think overall the game isn't as tight as the first game. There are too many sections where the areas are too open and there are only a few - if any - enemies. But then we've got 9 chapters to go! So who knows :P

I missed a chance to see them in manchester recently, mainly because my mate texted me at 4pm saying "yo, scored some innerpartysoundsystem tickets for 7pm. wanna come?" and, liek... three hours! to shower, eat, and get to manchester! Could've happened but didn't want to rush it. Decided to scan sheffield's lineups for the future... Looking fairly good... Leadmill 10th Nov: Finch Sheffield Uni Union 14th Nov: Mr Scruff Plug 22nd Nov: Simian Mobile Disco 28th Nov: Alabamba 3 11th Dec: Apocalyptica Corp 23rd Nov: Ghengis Tron 29th Nov: Dreadzone (Dan, check this - it sounds ace!) 1st Dec: Crytopsy with Beneath The Massacre supporting 5th Dec: Viking Skull (know one of the band member's brothers, or something) ... Lots of bands that I like/love/should listen to more/want to see live/never heard of but sound like they could rock. Shame I just found out about Finch being on tomorrow, but may see if anyone is up for it, depending on how well my essay goes.

Bah! Sheffield Massive... Do we rival Blazin Squad or something? :P I am a sheffield shambler. stfu. Unlucky with the girl - I saw you trying it on and hoped you knew :P It was an alright evening. I hate friday and saturday nights in bars as they're always busy, dark and noisy so I can't just have a chat with people and each time i go to buy a drink/go for a smoke/to the loo/return to seat I doubtlessly bump into at least four people. Any other night of the week and they would be all "heeey no worries dude!" but weekends they get all defensive and glarish (yes, that's a word now) and I just can't be arsed to explain to them that I'm BLIND and make them feel bad so I just pray karma gets to them. *breathes* Bungalows and Bears is a sound place, though! Bunch of other people were tehre. I think they were dan dare's mates from his brithday, and some of them claimed to know me so I just rolled with it, and didn't mention Heroes just like they asked. Yeah killthenet just appeared suddenly over my shoulder. I think his introduction was something along the lines of "my real name is ***** mc*** the **** von *** de****+"... it was a chance encounter which I can thank my green hair for :P Let's wrap up this stupidly long, pointless post. GEARAS TUHWOOO! Essay due on tuesday; not starting it yet. Meeting a pal in town for a drink at 7, going to try and convince her to join us at the flat party that dan mentioned... then tomorrow I buy a crapload of coca-cola/relentless and panic my way through a 1,500 word essay on Stuff I Don't Know Enough About. + Name not accurate.

Awesome... a play on the book Ender's Game. I wonder if the story is at all similar. I've only seen the first film, so I think I'll watch them all serialised instead. May get more bang for my buck.

Geocashing is absolutely awesome! Search geohashing as well, I've done that a couple of times. There's some wiki page somewhere (might be on xkcd) with a 'full' list of cashes, and there are even some in city centres! Crazy. Spent pretty much all day playing Gears 2 with shorty... too fun, too addictive. Got Dan Dare and a couple of mates over here and we were supposed to have left for drinks in town ages ago but... well, Gears :P Ah dude! We're going to be round the corner from there at teh Devonshire Cat. I'll PM you my number, feel free to text if you want to meet me and Dan or something.
