  1. I think I'll be in debt roughly to the tune of around £20k when I'm done -- jack it up to £24k for a masters. WOOOOOOOOOOoooo... a life of desolation, here I come.
  2. I might be willing, and thus could probably ninja others in the sheffield shambles to contribute. If you add a list of lyrics to the first post then you can even keep tabs
  3. If you make january the 6th I'll get someone to kiss you. Seriously.
  4. My mate back in brighton tried to give me probably the exact same set for my birthday last year. She'd already given me a shitload of other cool stuff so I just couldn't accept it. But yes! I am totally up for gin chess! Question is whether you're ready to get so damn pissed, as I'm awesome at chess. Kinda. I guess the other question is when are you coming back to sheff! Sounds like a deal, dude! Backgammon is a good fun game where you don't ever have to think/wait for your opponent to think for five minutes, but still utilises strategy.
  5. Well that's life, innit! Just as you start caring for a character BAM, and the dirt is gone. You know it's a good film when you sit there staring at the credits with your brain pirouetting -- thinking about just what it all meant
  6. Good day. had three cans of relentless -- I was buzzing so much by my third seminar that I didn't need to move my hand up and down to write -- just sideways like a heart-rate monitor (props to shorty). Got shorty to email me my CV, printed it off and handed it in at CEX where nightwolf spotted a vacancy the other day - and although the sign was down the girl behind the desk said that the didn't hire anyone new as they were all boring, and said taht my green hair was cool and wrote it on my CV. They're gonna love my CV as it's rather casual and blaset... blahzet? Fuck i don't care.Blahsé? Blasé I think. ANYWAY yeah, felt better about that. Going to bunk around town with a notepad to scope out any jobs, temp or not. Then shorty, nami, nightwolf and I went to manchester and saw dazzybee's play which was really rather damn good, actually. As nightwolf said; shame on y'all who could've but didn't pay it a trip. Train journey back was full of lols, too. Good times, good day. Feel right warm inside innit.
  7. Go read the book and then shhh. It's a good adaptation of a great text. No shame in that.
  8. I'm going to ask me dad for a snazzy Chess set, my mum for nice backgammon case, and... I guess money for a nice Go board with stones. Some nice laptop speakers could be a bonus, but I would be seriously over teh moon with any/all of these
  9. Aye! i just got back from seeing seeing it with nightwolf, nami and shorty, and was very pleasantly surprised at the quality. It dragged me into its world -- I felt some affinity to it as it was about a failed writer (something I will probably be :P) and would love to see it again if it gets a rerun next year. And dazzybee is cool
  10. I think I'd do the same to be honest. But if we broke up, then lord knows what would happen. I'd use my admin-buddy powarrs to get her banned and shizzle, probably. :P
  11. I don't think it's the lack of rhetoric like this that has left the british public jaded about such speeches. I think it's more about the american public's attitude about what it is to be an american that is what we can't replicate. It's strength through diversity, but only to a certain excent. I guess I'm not having a go at Obama or the US citizens, more just the general tribal mentality that humans seem to oh so desperately need in order to exist in some sort of bubbled harmony. I'm not having ago at what he's saying - these issues and whatnot. I'm highlighting the way he says it, the psychology behind it. I'm pondering on why there is a necessity for it. I'm trying to keep the idea in my head that nothing is black and white (excuse the punz), so why is his speech necessarily honest, helpful and clever? Are we applauding his hypnotism of the majority of the public? The guy's a symbol. That's all a president needs to be, and I think that's fine. Perhaps the only way we can all get along is if we all end up agreeing on how to interpret this world of symbols and abstractions. This post could've been in any thread, spun from any irrelevant point. It's not really a very good post because I don't know what I'm trying to say. I'm just emptying my head a little. I don't like the way the world operates... the way people operate. There's nothing I can do about it, and even if there was there's not neccessarily any purpose or reason for me to change anything. I DON'T KNOW. I should probably just shut up and go to sleep.
  12. It's a bonfire, burning bright on exploded fireworks Yes, I think you all cracked it. I'm driving my invisible bus, stopping my invisible pokemon from evolving. The new dance move that is my personal entry to the "Five Seconds Before Crash" emotive dance competition on TV just now.
  13. I watched some of that speech, Gaggle, but it wasn't just the length that put me off - it was just soo... american. David Cameron put accross a couple of similarly wordy speeches which really did nothing but mesmerise and subdue the listeners into hearing a fairy-tale-like smorgasboard of nonsense. Is it just an america thing that requires their leaders to be so ungrounded in reality? Their presidents must be avatars - symbols of greatness or whatever. I... I don't know. I have an issue with authority, I think. Bleh. I don't even know what I'm trying to say!
  14. Awesome fireworks/bonfire thing we had last saturday. As you can see, seconds after this picture was taken, a giant demolishing ball burrowed through the wall on the left. The question is, am I dancing or merely driving my invisible bus? This is a prawn cracker on my head, which shorty placed there. He also took this picture with my own camera - and I didn't notice him doing either thing. Ninja 4 lief.
  15. SOAG: What's the deally-doo? Recently I've been hella busy, yet I haven't done anything that seems worthy of a post on here. I'm coming to manchester tomorrow to see DazzyBee's play, hopefully with three other members from the Sheffield Shambles. I'm turning down a bar crawl and some juggling work (where I'd be getting paid in alcoholol!) for the occassion. Friday I'm off t'chesterfield for what should be some hi-larious goings on, then the weekend should be some HARDCORE essay writing in the face of Gears of War 2's temptation. Only 1500 words which should ease me into the next essay, which I think is due the following monday. Plus, of course, I want to write more of my nanowrimo. All hugely interesting to you all. Side notes might be more interesting; we have a new mouse running around the flat, whom I call Munty. I've watched 38 episodes of One Piece, 6 of House. My mum, dad and sister had a meal together today to celebrate my sister's graduation - first time they've all been in the same room for 2 years. Then they all individually called me up to ask me questions about the gossip each had told the other. The girl I had a fling with over summer wants to come to sheffield and I keep telling her I'm busy. She's too weird to hang out with normally, regardless of certain awesome circumstances. I lost my ear mould and couldn't get through to the ENT department today, though I didn't try as hard as I should've. Ok so the interesting bits weren't interesting either. Sorry.
  16. You got the number! High-five dude :P Keep me posted, yo.
  17. I think I'm like this. I ain't a fan of institutionalised learning... but then, i hate work. I hate the whole "you got a 24-hour day? Then you MUST sacrifice a chunk of it to do something, anything you don't want to do." But then, I'm damn lazy. The way I my brain works best is when other people are running their tongues and I get to imagine different pathways... bleh. I just hate... doing stuff. In my third year at uni and as ganepark feels, i've been learning non-stop for 17 years now. That's... weird. I'm doing a course I'm adequate at, and I have no idea what I'm actually passionate about. Don't think I ever will. Despite this, I still think i made the right decision coming to university. It shapes you and shows you a world that you never really thought about before. I've learned a lot about myself and how people work, even if I've learned nothing about post-colonial neo-marxism. Who cares about that shit anyway.
  18. well I got the next game off, so y'all get to bitch and bicker about me.
  19. yeah, nanowrimo - but it's also counting as my first draft for my creative writing portfolio. And supergrunch, stfu you're going to Smart School so you don't count.
  20. Awesome. Love it :P Ellmeister: Maroon 5 over mewithoutYou? SHAME ON YOU. Oh, and awesome props for all the zebrahead love. I haven't actually heard any of the stuff with the new singer, so I hope it's alright.
  21. Well I got a shit-load of excuses, yo! Got 4 essays due in 4 weeks, a presentation and 50,000 words to write by december. What you got, yo?
  22. I lolled. Lots :P Funniest thing you've ever said. Yeah! No choc-ices, but the talking heads film was sweet. Went out with some juggle peeps, played some FREE POOL zomg... then dan the dare came along and we saw the mad shizzle. was good. Written about 1200 words for this nanowrimo thing. A fair bit short of the total I should be at currently (around 5k) but I'm beating everyone else I know who is doing it. besides one guy who has 10k but his story is shit and just regurgitated FANTASYLOL novelist shit. Yeah. That's it. Feck off.
  23. stfu rez took 9 months to do the cool-kids-of-the-year thread. EDIT: Or dyson or someone else.
  24. It is a pretty cool idea. I have to warn you that there are similar things around, there WAS an application on facebook similar to this visual bookshelf where users could add games they have completed, games they've played, games they own, games they rented, et cetera, et cetera. I can't find the precise application but they earn some revenue by directing users towards amazon results for the books/movies. If executed well enough, with enough social interaction required for successful sites these days, it could be very cool. Combined with the xbox360 achievement thingums that all the cool kids have in their signatures, it could be very cool!
  25. Sounds good to me. Shorty, nami, nightwolf, dan dare and maybe lazyboy. What's the occasion?
