I had a session down there yesterday, too. The other team had snipers at the building and up by the boathouse, so I went into a small building there and picked off some over-eager enemies, knowing they'd not look for me in my window. Ended up attracting a lot of attention, and it was fun because clearly none of us knew the area that well. Dwarf; if someone's finished the game with one kill and zero deaths, then he's most likely a camper. If someone's finished the game with 24 kills and zero deaths, but not moved from the same spot, he may be a camper but within reason. Why move spots if you're racking up the kills? The game encourages a mixture of approaches to TDM - killcams show you where the bastard was, so obv. he can't just sit in the exact same spot and wait for you to fall into the same trap. Having a range of classes means you have an arsenal that can combat any situation... The game is scored on kills/assists. If it was scored with "amount of map seen" and "miles ran" factored in then it would be a different game -- actually, that would be quite an interesting game... Anyway, I rant on about this 'camping' issue because, like noob tubes and heartbeat monitors, it's a part of the game that is available to everyone, and only the purists/elitists get annoyed by it because they think they're untouchable.

Here's a hint to encourage thread survival - try not to let the 'game simmer down into just a ping-pong between two people. It becomes spamlike, unfunny and hard to join in. Make the rules clearer, too!

Xpert 11: Season 14, Fresh Blood and Old Grudges
jayseven replied to Haden's topic in General Chit Chat
Ah no it was never going to be a high-scoring one on my end. One of my strikers I played got a whopping 3 dev. value from that friendly! -
Daft; The Road was a kinky man-date between me and Dan Dare. He offered me the book before we even knew the film was in production, and we were eager to see it. The first thing I have to say about the movie was that it was one of the most faithful adaptations I'd seen since (perhaps ironically!) Fight Club, with only two or so moments of possible alternative inferences. The second thing is that I find it near-impossible to analyse a film based on a book I have read, because I'm spending the whole time comparing one visualisation to another. Hence why I struggle either to agree or disagree with your comment on it being 'boring'. Then again, I don't think the post-apocalyptical world is meant to be all that fanciful, or in anyway enviable whatsoever. It's a film for the empaths. Plus you failed to mention the Omar cameo.

Xpert 11: Season 14, Fresh Blood and Old Grudges

Cube; just to let you know, this friendly is going to be very... silly :P I'm giving my youth the experience. Though I do have Packham in goal, I do not expect anything from this match :P -
I try and mix up my killstreaks depending on the map. Skidrow with a turret is far more rewarding than a harrier of chopper gunner in most scenarios. I use a care package partly as I'm trying to get 1000 crates dropped (though, I've just hit level 70 again and doubt I'll be willing to wait for another 800 crates before i prestige again...) and because there's a lot of fun in the lucky dip. Also, pavelow ftw. It was the last one I unlocked this time. I've had two instances of 25-kill steaks since the last prestige and was slightly annoyed I didn't have it on. I'm getting better at certain maps so I may risk it! Underpass and Wasteland... in all honesty I think it's the dreary nature of the maps that puts me off these days! For me, Estate is the most frustrating because, if I'm not in the house, it seems I'm spending forever just to try and get close to the action. I got a quad-kill, thanks to quality timing and sheeplike opponents, on quarry, with one clip! The team aspect of the game is the weakest for me, mostly because I've basically only started playing online games with MW2, so actually being arsed to form a squad and tactically try and make a balanced set of skills between us is beyond me. Finally; Dwarf, I'm not exactly anti-camping. There's an element of king of the hill involved with owning a spot and successfully defending it. What should be avoided is vengeful gaming, where you've been killed by someone then you instantly head back to that point in order to try and make it even, somehow. By doing this you're playing straight into their hand, and until a player stops being so thoughtless they'll never be any good. Similarly it's why I don't like 1vs1 games, Shorty. Sadistic pleasure when you win, pointless anger when you lose.

Oi. I've pan-handled this stream first, nighterwolfling! -
I don't see why Raoul Moat is thought of as anything but a noob. He didn't even get enough kills for a care package, ffs.

You Know You Love Me...(Urgent Help Needed)

My mate gave up alcohol for three months, each week putting at least £30 (that he would've spent on booze) into a pot that he later gave to charity. He also got sponsored by a bunch of people, and promised to pay double what they fronted if he failed to last 3 months. Brave man. Personally I'm somewhat disenchanted by charities. Sorry. -
Spirited_Away; My genuine, best bit of advice is to start with the IMDB top-whatever list and work your way through them, keeping note of any particular film you really enjoyed and the reasons for it -- the directing/acting/cast/lighting/music/script, then expand your viewings to include other works by the person responsible for what you admired. I think it's important to get your own flavour of cinema rather than just following what other people think is good. My favourite type of movie is the 'mind-fuck', which came from my typical mode of watching movies -- alone and high. From that I discovered Waking Life's intense dialogues of philosophy, combined with rotoscope animation, and spread my tastes towards Linklater's other directorial stuff (Before Sunrise and Before Sunset in particular), as well as leading me into the world of Phillip K. Dick novellas by way of A Scanner Darkly also using Rotoscope animation (and, of course, the trillion other PKD movie adaptations of win!). Everyone will have their own advice for you Just don't force it.

The hulk reboot movie thing was, I thought at the time, a surprisingly well considered movie! Iron man's subsequent stage-stealing (iirc) altered consciousnesses. The problem I have with Norton is that he made two good movies then thought he was AWESOME and made 10 shit ones in a row. I disagree with Daft saying he plays the same character in Fight Club/American History X, but I'd suggest that in both of those films he was indeed carried by a greater cast performance/storyling of shocksome value.

My girlfriend's tortoise thinks that anything green must be edible. My t-shirt is HOLEY! Also, don't make the mistake I did of putting banana on my finger. Tortoises WILL bite for great justice. Tortoises are so unbelievably fantastic. This one, Jesse, is maybe 3 or 4 inches long and 2 or 3 wide. He YAWNS, he can recognise you by your voice, he BURROWS into you, he sneezes, he used to squeak when he had pneumonia (ahem) and when he poos he tucks his head right into his shell. Tortoioses are also much faster than people give them credit for. They're just slow at making their mind up about where to go.

I prefer London-By-Sea. That is; Brighton. Plenty to do (though I never do any of it), slightly cheaper and -- SEASIDE!!! Also not QUITE as hectic.

Crawley circus festival in less than two weeks now! Absinthe chess, toast fairy, unicyle races, juggling gladiator, sign language workshops, camping sideways and the renegade tent. Win.

The first star trek one is easily my favourite, still. I think I used the old song and a crappy quality video and slightly missed the point -- too long a vid. I've seriously had this song in my head for days now, and still can't think of any better way to utilise it. EDIT: Actually, fuck that. My retro SNES guile theme matches the vid. And the editing is superb. Damn you 8 people who watched the first 10 seconds. I bet none of you got to the CD bit. Also! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbVnB8Oi_B4 the SFIV theme. Does. Not. Go with anything.

Xpert 11: Season 14, Fresh Blood and Old Grudges

Yeah so I've sucked at reports this season. Doing only TWO!! Sorry haden. I'll do some sort of hench end-of-season report if I don't do more regular ones. Sidebar; FUCK YOU TRANSFERS! I bought a 21 6 forward, planning to couple him with a 28 9, but I was out-bidded TWO MINUTES before teh transfew window closed. Wanker. In future I'm going to do all my shopping at 22:50. -
O_W; from a personal standpoint :P I've had stuff planned for each day since I made that post. Friday was the first blank in the calendar! Truth be told, I'm still to be found online for a few hours after 11pm most nights anyway. Currently using a TAR silenced/FMJ with steady aim (only 280 hipfire kills to go before i can prestige again!), marathon, bling and duel rangers for secondary. Getting a plan for most maps with this set-up, with 22-2 on Rust and 25-3 on Scrapyard being my highlights of the evening! Derail is quick becoming a personal pwning zone, and underpass is very quickly becoming very, very annoying. using snipes for wasteland more and more -- when I was trying to max out Danger Close I'd always kick ass at wasteland if the opposing team 'controlled' the bunker. I'm also greatly sucking at afghan with this set-up. With my TARs I keep on getting multikills, and I'm a fan of silenced, especially on the smaller maps, as you really can take out entire teams in seconds if you get up in them the right way!On Rust I go up the ventilation shaft and pick people off. I've been playing with care package/harriers/pavelow (care package as i was considering getting the 1000 cratedrops... but probably won't) and I was lucky to get a harrier in the care-package! Total pwnage. MW2 is definitely a "just one more go" game, but usually when I feel the urge to stop I tell myself "I'll stop after my next session on Skidrow." In two/three hours (no extra maps bought) I didn't play once on skidrow, invasion or sub-base! Possibly three of my best maps right now. Has anyone else noticed more noobs online than usual? I noticed several level-20-or-less players tonight. Not that my kill/death ratio is complaining!
