Nicely done Nick. I hope the game wasn't too much of a slog to get through? I'm still planning on playing the copy of the game which @Aneres11 kindly sold to me recently. I look forward to hearing thoughts about the game from yourself and Greg (plus Lee if he's played it) on the Podcast but in the meantime... You mentioned the camera and I was wondering, seeing as you completed it very recently, did you get the very recent 1.03 update by any chance? The patch notes mention the following... - fixes a timer reset issue in Time Attack mode - new confirmation message at certain points - improved camera display I just wondered, if your version is 1.03 if the update improved any of those aspects, particulaly the camera or if the camera is still bad even after that update. It looks like the update was only made available yesterday, so I thought it was worth mentioning. I'm still looking forward to playing it and hopefully many other games this year, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD certainly seems like a game to make a rolling start with anyway. - - - - - Edit- @Nicktendo I've been listening to the podcast and I've just gotten to the part where Lee asked if the update actually improves the camera controls... "It doesn't" - Nick In that case, I'll prepare myself for the worst when I attempt to play it soon. I'm enjoying listening to all of your experiences with the game though.

N-Europe Turns Twenty-Two Yes, we nearly forgot again, but it's basically tradition at this point. Anyway... that's not all, we also wanted to let everyone know about the future of N-Europe. The site isn't going anywhere but @Ashley is stepping down as Editor-in-Chief in order to focus on personal things. He's not going anywhere either, as everyone knows that you N-Ever truly leave N-E and we wouldn't want him to either, the place wouldn't be the same. But he has asked me if I wanted to take on the role of Editor-in-Chief so that he can take the time he needs and I'm honoured to accept the role. I hope you'll all join me in saying Thank You to Ashley for all that he has put into the site over the years though and wish him the very best. If anyone deserves a break then it's definitely him and I'm happy to do my very best to help by keeping N-Europe running and trying my best not to break anything. Thank you to everyone involved with N-Europe and the forums, to every staff member, forum member and reader, plus thank you to our N-E Supporters. (and thanks once again to @RedShell for that fantastic banner which I'm very happy with and especially at very short notice) Here's to N-Europe in 2020 and beyond. I'd say more but there's a fair bit in the article and I really don't know what else to say except thank you to the best community and site I've ever known on the internet. It's a joy to be part of N-Europe and I wouldn't have it N-E other way.

Pokémon Direct airing on Thursday 9th January Up on the main site, meant to post that earlier. Anyway, N-Europe will of course be covering this so expect an article shortly after it airs. I'd second the suggestion of Pokémon Snap 2, heck it feels like we've been campaigning for it here since the original game came out. And the Switch is practically perfect for it... so expect The Pokémon Company to not do it and go some completely different route which nobody asked for. I'm going to keep my expectations as low as the catchable Pokédex in Pokémon Sword & Shield for this one... that way I might be surprised, maybe.

Last year... too much. This year... not so much hopefully. With that said I did buy a copy of this recently... G Darius on the Playstation Also... Turok Comics mostly the Valiant ones of which I think there were 46 in total, just getting them when I see them cheap, only missing a few now, got an idea for a Turok site feature which might tie-in with the physical release of the Turok and Turok 2 collectors editions.
-
I remember the same thing happening when I purchased it on the 3DS (or something similar) I definitely got one of the KORG software synths cheaper than the other though. I was thinking the same about the KORG Gadget but when I learned that it at least had some touch-screen support, I thought I should at least try it. The touch screen responsiveness isn't bad but I can see why a lot of users would just end up using the joy-cons even with this added support but at least it's there. I'm hopeful that there will be more updates later on down the road, for now though I'm happy enough to experiment with the Sega and Taito sound libraries as they are great. Let me know if you do end up getting it though, either soon or whenever it goes cheap (probably next week now that I've bought it) We could have an online N-E Jam Session.
-
Seeing as I've got a swish stylus to use with my Switch now thanks to Brain Training, I decided to finally pick up the KORG Gadget after noting that it's 20% off until tomorrow. I also did a quick search as it looks like touch screen support was added a little while back, so I got the software and the Ebina & Otorii additional gadgets. I'm not very good at using music software but even I managed to grasp some of it, I was showing my brother who's really into music making the software and he seemed intruiged. The reality is that I probably won't use it that much but after seeing what can be done with it, I'll be messing around with it here and there to see what I can come up with. It's still around £28 for those wondering and the additional modules are £8 each but you do get a lot of instruments and sound effects for your money. Plus, I just really wanted to mess around with Sega and Taito sounds.

Yep, you can count on it... if the Polymega comes out then I'll be happy to review it. At this point, I'm cautiously optimistic, I just checked their website again and it looks like you can still pre-order it directly from them at the moment but not for much longer. I'm guessing that means, they'll be shipping the first batch out to people who pre-ordered it directly from them sometime this year, then it'll be available from other outlets. Or... they've spent the money on retro games and it's all an elaborate ruse. I hope not... I'd really like a system which can 'play' all games from the 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit disc-based machines.

Remember it? I backed it! Though I am hopeful that it is actually coming out and will be at the very least a decent multi-console with high-end emulation utilising physical media. Many people have called it out, saying that it could be the latest in a long line of Kickstarted consoles which failed to come to market. I had a good feeling about it though, so I backed it and it is looking like the machine is at least in some form of production now and they are active on Twitter with updates. If not, and it's all an elaborate hoax (which I don't think it is) then well-played to them I guess, the feeling I get though is that there's a lot of passion behind this project. Time will tell I suppose, it will surely be a great machine though assuming that producing the units all goes to plan.

Sega Lord X with a video titled PAL Exclusive Sega Saturn Games (Europe) I'm posting this one because I thought it would be of interest, possibly to @Goafer as I remember you mentioning that you were going after PAL Sega Saturn games. Which reminds me, I should be getting to my Saturn games soon, so I'll give you a shout and/or make a thread when I have some for trades. Also, on control pads, I've got the wired version of that Retrobit Sega Mega Drive controller @Happenstance and I've found it to be a pretty good replacement pad. I got another Sega pad in the post today which I ordered a good while ago, the Brawlergen pad from Retro Fighters. It's a two in one pad which works for both Mega Drive and Saturn, has all the buttons plus an analogue stick, except it's only eight-way so it's not a true replacement for the 3D pad. I should get around to checking it out soon, plus some of the other Retro Fighters pads so I'll see about maybe doing a write-up on those at some point. This year I really want to get back into playing more retro games in addition to clearing a few new ones, we'll see how that goes but I'm hopeful that 2020 will be the year for it.

Dr Kawashima's Brain Training for Nintendo Switch Seeing as it's launch day, why not check out the excellent N-Europe review, written by @Ashley It has been up on the main site since just before Christmas but everyone might not have had a chance to read it yet. There's no score at the request of Nintendo and I believe that was one of the embargo conditions. But it's Brain Training, so I suppose it doesn't need a score, really odd though because at the time there didn't seem to be many (if any) reviews for it. (I've just had a look and there are a few reviews for it now, some only posted recently though and one even had a score on it) Also, as an aside... did anyone else order their copy from Nintendo with their 'promise' of launch day delivery if you ordered by 11PM a few days before? Yeah... that's not happening, my copy will be delivered tomorrow apparently, I mean I don't mind and it's a busy time of year but still. (I'm just eager to see how good that sleek-looking stylus is)

There's only one correct response to this... @drahkon I like your attitude!

N-Europe's Top 10 (Voting over, check first post for results)

And the worst part is, I used the same word, spelt correctly only a few lines down... Well spotted and well played Jonnas. N-Europe should hire you as our official proof-reader. -
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate hosts a Melee style tournament, starting today A little bit late on the news posting with this one (I was going to post it the other day) but in another way just in time because it starts today. Three day event, you can only pick Melee characters, stages and items... what's not to love? I even dug out the link to our original review for Super Smash Bros. Melee in the article so check that out if you like. A fantastic event to start Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's second year on the Switch and a good way to raise the series' profile in 2020.

N-Europe's Top 10 (Voting over, check first post for results)

And out of nowhere like a Nintendo Direct announcement, here's an article for our Staff Top Ten Switch Games of 2019. (What do you mean it's 2020 and you didn't ask for this? Well... you've got it anyway and everyone worked hard on it, so please read it) Thanks to @RedShell for the slick Switch-based banner/side graphics. and @Vileplume2000 who had the idea for this article, the passion to write stuff about each game plus he got us all to vote for the games. Also thanks to all N-E Staff who voted, I know not everyone could as not everyone had played that many games, we still ended up with some excellent picks though . (my contribution was making the game banners in the article, putting in some weird 'verdicts' which no one asked for (what?) and getting it uploaded) Yes... I know there are two games for number 10 because that's how the points were allocated and we wouldn't have it any other way. (there might even be some honourable mentions in there as well and links to some reviews of course) Oh and even though I've proof-read this I don't know how many times and fixed a broken banner already, I'll be relying on @Jonnas to spot any errors in the article. (It's practically tradition at this point and thank you for pointing out the errors in the previous articles as some of them were quite significant and it's good to keep things professional) #PrOfessioNal!11!1! Enjoy! -
I'd say so, that sounds similar to how I play Pokémon, going into each patch of grass and catching all of the different types before moving on, plus doing a good bit of levelling up. I've still only played six hours or so since getting the game, still in the Wild area as well... I should go back to it. Which starter did you pick? (I went with Grookey just because... Grass Type starter traditions) Let us know if you want the other starters, I'm not in a position to get starter eggs yet (still need a Ditto) but I'm planning on doing so soon as my brother is going to be starting playing Pokémon Shield soon and I said I'd try and get him some starters which gives me a reason to play again plus I'll gladly breed starter Pokémon for anyone else who wants them at the same time. Although... after searching on where/how to get a Ditto, it looks like I'd best get playing as you do have to progress a fair bit before you can get to where Ditto is. I miss the earlier games when you could catch one within the first few hours of starting.

Welcome to the forums @LadyLunaK Being that you're into gaming, are getting more into playing on the Switch and love using forums; I'd say that you've come to the right place. We've got a really fantastic community here at N-Europe and as @londragon has pointed out, the Switch friend codes thread is a great place to start adding people to your Switch friends list as we do play Switch games online quite regularly, at the moment I think we're playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate every Thursday at 9PM so that might be on tonight, there's even Mario Kart League nights which are also on Thursday at 8PM but we're inbetween leagues at the moment. Seeing as Lee has already promoted the N-E Café Podcast (which is our weekly podcast where lots of game discussion takes place along with sales and what everyone has been playing) I'll go ahead and promote A Smashing Cast which is where we play Smash, chat about games and just generally have fun; both are great new additions to the site and we're hoping to double-up our efforts with both of these podcasts plus more this year. I hope you enjoy your stay. Also, it's worth saying that it's great to see two new members sign up to our forums in the past 24 hours as @euroninfan recently joined us as well.

If you want to show the other persons post (like above) then just hit the 'Quote' next to the + symbol at the bottom of their post. If you want to reply to someone by tagging them like... @euroninfan then just type the '@' symbol then start typing the persons user name right after the @ symbol. Some of these functions might not be available to you until you've made a few posts (I think it's ten posts still) but then you'll be able to always reply and quote. - - - - - As for the games, there are a load of games within those genres, let's see if I can find a few titles... Racing Crash Team Racing FAST RMX Horizon Chase Turbo Mario Kart 8 DX Team Sonic Racing Virtua Racing FPS Doom Doom II Doom 3 Doom (2016) Paladins Superhot Turok Turok 2: Seeds of Evil Wolfenstein II Wolfenstein Youngblood Platforming A Hat in Time Celeste Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Kirby Star Allies Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom New Super Mario Bros. Deluxe Shantae series Sonic Forces Super Mario Maker 2 Super Mario Odyssey Yooka-Laylee Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair Fighting ACA Neo Geo series ARMS Pokkén Tournament DX River City Girls Raging Justice Samurai Shodown SNK Heroines Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Shmups ALL of them There are really too many to list but that should give you some ideas on where to start.

It's a great console, I'll recommend the same games I posted one page back if you were thinking of buying one... Devil May Cry Trilogy Devil May Cry 5 God of War InFAMOUS Second Son/First Light Resident Evil 2 Shenmue I & II Shenmue III Yakuza series All good games on the PS4, well worth playing.
-
Welcome to the forum @euroninfan I would say that your best bet is to buy a Nintendo Switch if the cost isn't really a factor in your decision, seeing as you already have a 3DS XL and don't seem too happy with it. There are a load of decent games on the Switch, as you have noticed, there are over 2,000 available so on average you're likely to find some games you'd be interested in. Which games are your favourite type to play? I'm sure we could probably recommend you some games which might help you make a decision. (assuming this is a genuine enquiry of course)

First of all, Happy New Year! Secondly, Shovel Knight! (that's the transition tune) Finally, nicely done on the episode. I've just finished listening to it and I thought you all did really well to put it all together, especially over Christmas and I enjoyed listening to your Demon's Crest talk @Vileplume2000 you really summed up the game well I thought. It is a very divisive game, I can understand why there would be so many different takes on it, personally I enjoyed it back on the Virtual Consoles but I haven't revisited it. I was going to, just to see if my views on the game had changed but I've probably talked about it enough in the past, I still feel that it's an underrated gem though. Thanks for the episode, it was nice to listen to while putting together a certain article for the site which N-E staff members have contributed to, it's a 2019 article really but I think the extra time spent on it makes it still a very worthwhile read for the start of 2020, especially with the rate in which games are coming out for the Switch, so stay tuned for that and here's to the new decade.
-
Thanks for the games. Oh and Happy New Year!
-
I've made some good progress with the article, so I'll pop on Twitch for a bit and watch you all play.
-
I won't be able to join tonight as I'll be finishing writing up a certain article for the main page and I did say that I'd do my best to get it finished before the year is out. But I hope it all goes well and that everyone has a good time though.
-
Ah OK, then in that case it seems that you do need an account per region, I wasn't sure as I haven't tried to buy anything from any of the other eShops.
-
I'm not completely certain on this but I think I've heard of people getting a Japanese account (seperate to their main account) to get the Japanese NES and SNES apps plus some region exclusive games and then switching back to their main accounts to play them, the only thing is though you need different currencies on different eShops so that's why you'd probably need the other account. However, if you have no digital currency in your wallet on the eShop before travelling, you should be able to just change the region to wherever you are, so long as you realise that if you change region and you have money from a different currency in your account and then try to buy currency in the new region eShop, I think you'll lose what any unspent currency, but if you're just buying the required amount needed to purchase whichever game you want to buy then this shouldn't be a problem. That's as much as I understand about the whole eShop accounts and region restriction stuff anyway but I reckon @Dcubed would be able to provide a more concise answer. I've just re-read the question though... yes I believe you can still connect to your home eShop while in another country, it depends on which region you choose on your Switch.
