  1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection April 2023 Update Now up on the main page. Patch notes, list of games which are now playable online, and the launch trailer from lat year. It's good to see this collection still being improved with each update. - - - - -
  2. Pokémon Stadium Arrives on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack April 12th Now up on the main page, thanks to @Josh64 for the article. (It seems to be that the Nintendo Switch Online news tends to be released at around 2am, I did see it but it was rather late/early) Ah well, good to see the mini-games, those should be fun to play online at least. A stop-gap until Mario Party 3, perhaps?
  3. Nintendo eShop new releases (week 13) The thirteenth week of releases. A selection of new titles are now available on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Check the article for the full roundup. - - - - - Thanks to @Josh64 for keeping the main page updated with news this week. It has been a slow news week, but there seemed to be a couple of interesting eShop titles, including... DREDGE Launch Trailer Wildfrost Launches April 12th And here is the *Sonic news for this week... (not including The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog as that's a Steam game, but if/when it comes to Switch... then sure) Sonic Joins Samba De Amigo - - - - - That's right, Sonic... dance like your life depends on it!
  4. Thanks for the games. Definitely a few double character matches, and a few instances of Sonic, who was promptly K-O'd... though he still gave as good as he got. Some amusing moments on the Great Bay stage, and much more besides. Here's a link to this week's stream... - - - - - N-Europe Saturday Smash! (01/04/2023) - - - - -
  5. No issues loading the E3 Memories thread on a PC using Firefox. Maybe the amount of embedded videos etc is just too much for some mobile devices? On the subject of embedded content, often videos and images don't load on a PC, using Firefox, but I'd just gotten used to opening the image from the tweet in another tab, if it's of interest... this is just with Twitter embeds, YouTube seems to display fine.
  6. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom new gameplay trailer Now up on the main page.
  7. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom new trailer reveal today Now up on the main page. N-Europe should have the usual roundup article posted shortly after the presentation has aired.
  8. Thanks for the games. At least two double characters, and a triple character match, not on random selection either. Some good 'Toon Link' exits, I lost count after nineteen or so... there were some genuinely close matches as well, plus more than a few "I... didn't mean to do that" "Or did I?" moments. No time for camping on any of these stages, well... except the one overly large stage, perhaps. But still time for some "free the Mii" hijinks, on a certain reccuring stage. Also, someone commented on the stream towards the end (it's not on the higlighted video) asking... "Can someone tell me what I am witnessing?" To which I replied... "You are witnessing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate... 'Where has the floor gone?' edition." Here's a link to this week's stream... - - - - - N-Europe Saturday Smash! (25/03/2023) - - - - -
  9. Nintendo eShop new releases (week 12) The twelth week of releases. A selection of new titles are now available on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Check the article for the full roundup. - - - - - Thanks again to @Josh64 for keeping the main page updated with news this week. After not much news last week, there have been many news articles within the past couple of days including... Little Friends: Puppy Island Announced for Nintendo Switch LEGO 2K Drive - Awesome Reveal Trailer Tetris 99 – 32nd MAXIMUS CUP Starts Today! Fire Emblem Engage Wave 4 DLC Releases April 5th And not one, but two Sonic articles... Sonic Origins Plus Announced - - - - - Sonic Frontiers Free Update Available Now - - - - - Gotta read fast!
  10. Thanks for the games. There were some close races this week, a few technical issues, and more than a few projectiles thrown. Though we didn't have enough time for a fourth GP, the three GP's we did get to race, were pretty good. Here's a link to this week's stream... - - - - - N-Europe Get Together! (23/03/2023)
  11. @Ike @Glen-i @BowserBasher I appreciate you all sharing your thoughts. It's likely there will be a change in my playstyle from next week. In the meantime, I'll be playing Smash single player between now and then, as I still have a fair amount of the World of Light mode to go, so I may decide to practice with those floatier, technical-based characters, that I don't play as that often, though I will say that playing through the mode with the DLC characters definitely makes it more interesting. I was able to pull off Terry's "Are you OK? Busta Walf!" combo a few times, with the new controller, so I'm getting somewhere with it at least. (check out around the 01:54.30 mark on the video below for the combo if you're interested) Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch - Single Player I'll likely be making a few more of these streams whenever I decide to play some offline Smash during the week between online sessions.
  12. Thanks for the games. Just one or two double matches this week, the rest were all mostly different characters. Aside from that, the usual hijinks. Here's a link to this week's stream... - - - - - N-Europe Saturday Smash! (19/03/2023) - - - - - Ike, I'm glad to have joined Smash night, I've learned from watching you all fight, and it has been fun battling with everyone, but when it's Stamina, and there's a large stage to use, isn't that just using the stage and the randomly selected character to your advantage? At what point does it become defined as 'camping' and not just 'damage avoidance' or whatever the term is for trying to preserve your character HP? I'm just asking for some clarification, as my playstyle can change, but I'll always try to put a bit of humour into how I play, just because it seems to be needed, but if there are many clear instances of my character just 'camping' then I could adapt my playstyle. Check my streams, let me know which are the plain examples of this happening, and I'll take it into account for next time. I know I definitely used the full area of Hyrule Temple... there was what could be perceived as 'extreme damage avoidance' there, I'm sure... Glen even mentioned that, but if there are any other egregious examples, just say and I'll take a look. I've been getting back into the game in the Single Player mode 'World of Light' recently, as I just got the 'NYXI Wizard' GameCube style Switch controller, so it has made the game more playable for me, in portable mode and on the TV screen, so I'm sure I will only learn more about the game from here... going from using my usual GameCube controller, to the next pad, may have changed how I play, to a degree.
  13. Nintendo eShop new releases (week 11) The eleventh week of releases. A selection of new titles are now available on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Check the article for the full roundup. - - - - - Also, cheers to @Josh64 for keeping the main page updated with news this week. It doesn't seem like there's been a lot of news over the past few days, but all the main articles are there, highlighting the latest NSO Game Trial, all of the recent NSO NES, SNES and Game Boy Updates for March 2023, and the Release Date for Dokapon Kingdom: Connect.
  14. Thanks for the games. Well, that's Mario Party 2 finished... ...Mario Party 3 when? Nintendo - "Some time this year... probably... when we feel like it..." OK... Here's a link to this week's stream... Mario Party 2 on the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack - N-Europe Multiplayer (16/03/2023)
  15. Thanks for the games. Close races this week... @Glen-i For an alternate view of that take-down, go to 48:20 on the stream... it doesn't make it any *less worse, but you can see what I witnessed mid-flight. *(it does add to the comedy value though...) Here's a link to this week's stream... - - - - - N-Europe Get Together! (16/03/2023)
  16. Nintendo eShop new releases (week 10) The tenth week of releases. A selection of new titles are now available on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Check the article for the full roundup.
  17. Thanks for the games. There was a double Villager match, Snake had to go back to using CQC attacks and hiding in a box, as projectiles were pocketed. Also, I got an assist from Rathalos on one of the matches, I think we saw it turn up in a least three matches as well, always fun. Here's a link to this week's stream... - - - - - N-Europe Saturday Smash! (11/03/2023)
  18. No worries, this is mostly why I stream so that there's a record of the gameplay... it's not for the view numbers though peoples witness is always appreciated. All of those dates would be fine, Thursday and Friday is always ok for N-E Multiplayer, not so much Wednesday though, as I play PSO on Tues/Weds now. Those 'janken' matches were amusing, I liked the contrast between the seven(?) rounds of the first match, and the one round of the second. Yep, if anyone wants to take screens of the streams, go for it, it's useful for that, and the quality seems to be reasonable enough on Switch games. Yeah, next Thursday, after Mario Kart will work. Being that we finish at around 9pm, we should be able to start Mario Party 2 at around 9:15pm or before, will probably just need a few minutes to change the stream title etc, and have a brief break. And if Mario Party 3 does drop next week... then, we'll be set for the week after at least.
  19. Thanks for the games. Yep, Wario wins by a shakedown... not for the first time, and it surely won't be the last. Calling it... Mario Party 3 will drop next Thursday, because while Metroid Fusion on the GBA is a fantastic single player game, Mario Party 3 would add another multiplayer game to NSO EP, and at this point NIntendo might as well get the N64 games they've announced so far out in a reasonable time while Switch owners are using the service more than ever. Here's a link to this week's stream... Mario Party 2 on the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack - N-Europe Multiplayer (10/03/2023)
  20. Considering that on the homebrew scene for Mario Kart and Smash Bros. there's most tracks, characters, stages etc that you could want with more being added, the next official Mario Kart (or Smash Bros) could go full-on Mario Maker and allow players to add their own tracks. Either that or, just make a brand new game with only brand new tracks, but considering the amount of work which has gone into Maro Kart 8 DX, it would seem silly to not include all those tracks in any future game. At this point though, just turn the '8' on its side, call it Mario Kart Infinite, the last release of the game which just keeps getting new content, then keep making adjustments until the game is as balanced (or unbalanced) as it can be, and leave it at that. If we were to get GameCube games as part of Nintendo Switch Online... either an existing tier, or another 'plus' level or something, then Mario Kart Double Dash!! would be fantastic to play online, plus most of the groundwork has already been done, the game supported the Broadband adapter, you can already technically play it I believe, so Nintendo just needs to make their own official version, by making a GC NSO application which is as good as the N64 one is, as when it works, it really works well.
  21. Yep, also, technically Sonic has made appearances in Phantasy Star Online, Phantasy Star Universe and Phantasy Star Online 2. Oh, and there's the multiplayer mode in Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg... unless that's already been covered. Let me know if you want any information about Sonic in PSO @Cube it was more PSO than the other games, as I believe Sonic would appear as a character in the lobby, but in PSO, there was a whole online quest which featured Sonic. I think it may have even extended to Sonic Team wanting to have Sonic as a playable character at one point, but decided against it, though the data is likely still in the game code. Anyway, these are more cameo, I guess, but there are a fair few Sonic Team made games which feature Sonic unlockables etc, such as Feel the Magic on the DS and it's sequel, the Rub Rabbits, which had unlockable Sonic-themed accessories. (you're probably getting up to these I'd have thought) Great write-ups though, there are a fair few games that I was unaware of, and even a few cameos, I like the Virtua Striker 2002 unlockable literal Sonic "Team" in fact, I recall buying a copy of that on the GC cheap a while back, just to check out that unlockable.
  22. I just watched it, skipped through most of the talking parts at 2X speed, then watched the trailer. For anyone who hasn't seen the Direct yet... The start point for the Direct part is around the 30:00 point, and the direct ends at around the 36:45 point. You can watch the video here. Good trailer, I'll put the 'Roundup' article up either later or tomorrow.
  23. Thanks for the games. Great new tracks, Yoshi's Island is the obvious highlight, some of the turns on the new tracks are... interesting. Good to see Birdo added, though It'll be interesting to see which other characters fill the five remaining slots on the character select screen. Here's a link to this week's stream... - - - - - N-Europe Get Together! (09/03/2023)
  24. And then later, Retro had DK... stuck with DK for a while, before going back to Metroid, and here we are. I can see that, both Perfect Dark and Metroid Prime rated high on my personal level of anticpation at the time as well, and yes, the artifact hunt definitely seems to be the point at which many players tend to shelf the game. That might have been close to where I left it, though it might even have been after that, or at least towards the end of the Phazon Mines... yes, that sounds about right. I don't mind the artifact hunt that much though, it's a lot of back-tracking, but the world is so well-designed, and with the improved loading times in Remastered, I don't expect it to be that much of a bother this time around, either... anyway, I should probably save this for the Metroid Prime Remastered thread. Back to Fusion... everything from ther story set-up at the start, to the SA-X encounters, the well-realised enviroments, and the tight controls (considering the limited number of buttons) made for an excellent Metroid title, which is easily one of the most memorable games in the series to date, though it seemed to be overshadowed when Metroid Zero Mision was released a year and a half later. Here's hoping Metroid Zero Mission is added soon (but not too soon) so that people get a chance to play Fusion, and then may want to try out Zero Mission as well. Yes, more Sega GBA titles for NSO EP, as these were mostly excellent titles, plus many GBA games will become more accessible thanks to the modern features that the service provides.
  25. Just over six weeks later, the NXYI GameCube styled controller / joy-cons has shipped. If it arrives soon, that will be perfect timing to try it out with Metroid Prime Remastered, in addition to Metroid Fusion in portable mode, though I'll likely stick with either the NSO SNES pad or the Hori GC pad for TV play, though this new contoller will surely have a few situations where it will prove to be useful, assuming all the buttons hold up. Anyway, being that the controller is shipping now, it looks like it's now just available to buy, no pre-order necessary, and though I don't recommend the website, as it's not the most user-friendly, there should at least be a discount code to use when signing up, which makes the pad around £50. It's an option, at least... it's always good to have options. (I might even play Smash in portable mode with it, only offline though, it has been a while since I last played the single player mode)
