N-E Online Mario Parties (Week 27 - Waluigi's Island - MP3)
S.C.G replied to Glen-i's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Thanks for the games. The online seemed to hold up a lot better this week, aside from a few disconnections. Some good moments as well, such as the draws in the minigames, and some great/not so great dice rolls. Here's a link to this week's stream... No worries, Just setting up now. -
Thanks for the games. Good to see @Ugh first aid back on the track again, and on Discord. Some close races, and at least Rosalina beat Peach in the end. (What do you mean... it was a draw? It still counts!) Here's a link to this week's stream... - - - - - N-Europe Get Together! (16/02/2023)

For anyone looking to pre-order the physical version of Metroid Prime Remastered... On eBay, voucher code CATCH10 which you can enter at the checkout for 10% off, Videogames are included, select sellers only, one of which is thegamecollectionoutlet, which is the same as the site effectively, they have the game for pre-oder at £34.95 but with the code it makes the pre-oder price £31.45 which seems to be a good price for the physical version, it's even cheaper than digital. 28 copies currently sold, seemingly 22 copies left, suggesting that the outlet allocates around fifty of each game that they know will sell on pre-order at the same time when these offers appear on eBay, I've ordered games from them before, and they usually arrive on the day of release or a day before. Voucher code expires just before midnight.

You could always play other games on your GameCube, Phantasy Star Online would be my obvious recommendation. But the GameCube has loads of other great exclusive games too, and titles which still haven't even been ported to any modern Nintendo platform. It's a good idea to play the GC regularly anyway, plus any other console which is at least couple of decades old, just to keep the components going. I've been noticing small issues with GC consoles that I've had for a while, but usually nothing that can't be fixed by resetting the console or leaving it on for a while. When it comes to Metroid Prime, even though I enjoyed replaying the trilogy on the Wii, when it was released again digitally on the Wii U, I found that I wanted to go back to the GameCube controls, despite the seemingly apparent advantages of the motion control. I'm glad that this remaster has all of the control methods which were originally offered, and then some more options as well, the dual analog controls are surely welcome, though the beam-switching using the C-Stick on the original GC controller had a good feel to it. I am intending to buy this when it comes out at the start of March, I don't buy that many Switch games any more (or even own a fifth of the games I used to on the console) but Metroid Prime Remastered is definitely an exception. And I'm glad to see the game re-released again, so that many other players who haven't tried the game before can experience it for themselves in an improved and accessible form.

Nintendo eShop new releases (week 06) The sixth week of releases. A selection of new titles are now available on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Check the article for the full roundup.

Yeah, that actually sounds likely. Nintendo could be playing the long-game with this one. It would make sense, as they definitely use nostalgia to sell more to people who remember these games the first time around. And for anyone who hasn't played these games, it would be just another incentive to buy both Metroid Prime Remastered and NSO Expansion Pack, if they didn't have it already. It would be great if Metroid Fusion was released at the same time that the physical version of Metroid Prime Remastered comes out. Adding in similar functionality with Metroid Dread would be interesting as well, maybe update that game as well, and put the Gravity Suit into Dread, even though it probably wouldn't make much sense.
-
Nintendo missed a trick there, they could have added amiibo functionality for all the existing figures, adding in the Fusion Suit, and the Dread Suit... etc. I reckon the Fusion Suit is probably coded in anyway... perhaps it'll be dlc or a free update when then physical copy is released. Or... none of the above.

Thanks for the games. A few double and triple same charatcer matches this week, no quadruples this time though. Some good Sudden Death matches as well, I was glad to win one of them as Banjo & Kazooie. (Guh-huh!) (Yes I used side-B as Meta Knight... Yes I went off the edge... what did I learn? Nothing... I'll probably do it again next week) Here's a link to this week's stream... - - - - - N-Europe Saturday Smash! (11/02/2023)

N-E Online Mario Parties (Week 27 - Waluigi's Island - MP3)
S.C.G replied to Glen-i's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Thanks for the games. Of course there was hardly any lag on the previous weeks when I wasn't streaming our games, this week there was a lot, but it added to the experience... It'll be interesting to see how it runs next week, I'm not sure what changed, or if it's just because the GameBoy service recently launched. Here's a link to this week's stream... OK, not for £60 then. I looked at the price on the US press release, which was $69.99... I'm used to the dollars price ending up being the same in pounds, so I guessed it would be around £70. (I could only see a US press release around when I went to post the roundup, I'll edit the RRP now) I'm glad to see that this isn't the case. Typically, first-party Nintendo games have been around £49.99 for a physical copy, then with various offers on eBay, I've been able to get new Switch games, not long after release, or even on a pre-order for around £42... so perhaps getting a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for around £55 physical at around the release date might be possible, unless there is a really good pre-order bonus item which might negate some of the extra cost of course. It looks good, if it has more in the way of dungeons or temples in this game, I can see more people potentially purchasing it, and sticking with the game for longer. I noticed that the original Breath of the Wild is on 'sale' for around £40 on the eShop... which seems good for digital, I just rebought a physical copy of the game for £35 before the price probably goes up again. (I had the Collector's Edition, but sold it a short while ago) I might go back to the original to see whatever I missed from years ago.

Nintendo Direct 08/02/2023 Roundup Now up on the main page. N-Europe's roundup of the event, featuring a formatted press release, and video embed. - - - - - Thoughts... Metroid Prime Remastered, finally! (almost) Waiting for the boxed copy. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom... decent trailer, might buy it, but probably not for £70. PIkmin 4... looks good, though I lost interest in the franchise a while ago. Game Boy and GBA games on NSO... yep, it's a start, nice to see Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare on there. Mario Kart 8 DX dlc... nice new track, new characters too? Add a load of them, it'll add more variety. Ghost Trick, Etrian Odyssey & Baten Kaitos remasters... another way to play these games is definitely welcome. Everything else... yep.

Thanks for the games. First and last matches for Sonic, one match we had two Daisies, Peach and a Fire Emblem character, one match had two Yoshi's... Some close matches as well, and some really good dodges, counters etc, some of them (most of them?) accidental. and more than a few stage dives. Here's a link to this week's stream... - - - - - N-Europe Saturday Smash! (04/02/2023)

It counts! Thanks Cube. I'll be playing as Sonic then, in fact, we should probably have an all-sonic match, on a Sonic stage, with Sonic music to make up for this oversight. Oh well, we Live and Learn. (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah...)

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack: N64 & SEGA Mega Drive (& GBA!!)
S.C.G replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Thanks for the games. Yeah... it had definitelty been a while since I last played Goldeneye 007, and the same might have been true for many of us. It was good to finally play it at a decent framerate though, and it was good to see that the 'Slappers Only' and 'Throwing Knives' as well as the other weapon selections, all went down as well as they could have, if not better, providing plenty of great moments. If only someone had captured it all, streamed it and highlighted it, so that it could be enjoyed by all... Here's a link to this week's stream... OK, I'll join if there's space, I just need a few minutes to set up the N64 controller (which arrived today) and to test out Goldeneye very briefly. -
N-E Online Mario Parties (Week 27 - Waluigi's Island - MP3)
S.C.G replied to Glen-i's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Hmm? I did just buy the expansion pack... but I assumed that you already had four players for Mario Party? (Yourself, Glen, Hazel and Simon) If there's a space free, then I'd be interested, depending on when it is... though I'm waiting on either the N64 Switch pad, or the Raphnet N64 - GC adapter that I just ordered to arrive before I get properly into playing N64 games on it. If there is a suitable workaround for using the GC controller though, I could just use that if you're playing soon. (I seem to recall there was some remapping to be done for Mario Party?) Anyway, the N64 games do seem good, I did have a quick go on F-Zero X in portable mode and it's easily the best emulated version I've played on a Nintendo console. -
Thanks for the games. Some close races, well-placed projectiles, and a fair few lightning strikes. (four in one race) Oh... and I used a horn on the train in Kalimari Desert... it was worth it. Here's a link to this week's stream... - - - - - N-Europe Get Together! (26/01/2023)
