  1. 7PM or so tonight? I'll be playing Pokémon Sun until then as I feel like I've barely scratched the surface, only 4 hours and 13 minutes into it so far.
  2. The Good - Motion Controls, Virtual Console, Sold Well. The Bad - Shovelware, Underpowered, Limited Online. The Uglii - Controller Shells, Fickle Market, Lasting Stigma There is more I could say but wanted to keep it short for now.
  3. n-europe Presents Nintendo Classic Mini NES @Vileplume2000 goes hands-on with Nintendo's latest micro console... ...and I helped! Check inside for the verdict. Enjoy! : peace:
  4. I'm sorry to hear that Eenuh. Have your parents left food or treats out for her near places where she might be? That might work to bring her out of hiding if she's nearby perhaps, I don't know what else to suggest but I hope she's found safe soon.
  5. That may be true but I really hope this isn't the case, also it feels that with this generation we are in a new era of gaming where it's possible to have loads of games spanning almost entire generations of console history on one machine and where there is money to be made from more niche titles as there's enough of a cult following to justify it in addition to potential new buyers as well. I really hope that Microsoft will see the benefit in it, I'm not talking about the entire original Xbox library here but more like the best fifty to one hundred games on the system, it could happen... I hope.
  6. That's a pretty neat thread, I'll have to check it out in more detail sometime as I also didn't know about the visuals issue with later Xbox models in either Panzer Dragoon Orta or Gun Valkyrie and I own both titles plus I only got an Xbox when the Crystal model went into production meaning you could get the machine with Outrun 2 along with some other games for £99.99! Perhaps it was a Sega thing? Both games were developed by Smilebit so it would add up... but do you know what saddens me? A lot of these excellent titles just aren't playable unless you hook up the original machine so as such I haven't been able to play either of those two titles for many years. I have recently thought that Microsoft are clearly missing a trick because while they are slowly making the Xbox 360 library backwards compatible with the Xbox One which is of course fantastic, I'm sure they could get away with actually selling us original Xbox games again recoded for the system for say... £8.99 per title? I know I would buy all the games I wanted to play digitally again for that price. Especially if this console generation is just going to continue... the Xbox One will be around for a long time yet surely so it would make sense, especially with this anniversary! Has this approach been discussed in the Gaf thread out of interest? I was just wondered if they had already talked about the viability of it - Xbox original games on Xbox One - much like the Switch has got me wondering about the possibility of GameCube VC games. Anyway, in answer to your question... Yes I do indeed have some original Xbox games, obviously the ones in my collection I'm going to want to keep but I certainly have some doubles and some ones I would be willing to just sell. I can't vouch for all of their conditions off the top of my head but I'm sure I have some ones in good, clean and presumably working order but actually testing certain titles would be a problem for the ones which aren't backwards compatible but by all means; if you have any titles you are after then let me know or I could get around to getting all the Xbox original titles I have together and take some pictures for you to look at. : peace: Some of them I have already got sorted into boxes as I was in two minds whether to sell any from my collection that I don't want anymore but now that I know you're potentially interested in collecting them I will give you first refusal on them of course as you've helped me out before a fair few times which I'm grateful for. Also, it's good to see you about a bit more on here again.
  7. My copy of Pokémon Sun from the Nintendo store complete with Solgaleo figurine arrived this morning, I have yet to play it yet though as I've some site stuff to do but I shall be on it later today.
  8. Sunday night, from 7PM or so? Certainly.
  9. I don't even watch what's supposed to constitute "News" anymore from the Biased Broadcasting Corporation... they lost viewership in this household a long time ago. It's their own fault for pushing lies, falsehoods in addition to being generally pretty awful and that's putting it mildly. These days I much prefer to support much more independently run sources of news such as http://www.ukcolumn.org/ who do a really fantastic job of telling the news how it is in addition to reporting on the stories you generally won't hear about from some of the larger news conglomerates because they'd rather not tell you. Anyway, check out the site if you like or tune in to their broadcasts live at 1PM each weekday - or catch up on demand - and see what you think, personally I find it rather refreshing. : peace: The only time I bother to read the papers is at work, even then I just skim-read, sometimes I'll find an interesting story "buried" in a page which is mostly adverts, most of the time it just seems to be more bias though. I read the Mirror today but only so I could skip to the game reviews section at the back which is often worth reading on a Friday. Of course I have other news sources on Facebook but I filter out a lot of stuff that comes up and I don't get involved in any arguments on there, indeed I rarely post anything at all. I think in an age where we can have the internet at any time - even though I mainly browse on my PC - it's nice to have a choice of where to get our news from rather than just opting for a "default" source.
  10. In a word, yes. In more than a word, Charizard alone is worth a lot more than £8 so yes, pretty solid investment there. : peace:
  11. It's always sad to see a fellow hunter retire, even if it's only temporary - with Monster Hunter that is always the case - until the next generation. Well it has been fun fighting alongside you Red, in both your Hunter and Prowler forms. I look forward to joining up with you again when the series makes the Switch. : peace: But if you ever like... y'know... change your mind then you know where to find us. :awesome:
  12. So I should be able to get everything I need - aside from extra games - for around £300 hopefully, not bad.
  13. Some fantastic hunts there this evening @Glen\-i especially as we had another hunter on our team thanks to Solyeuse. It's nice to have met another excellent member of the Monster Hunter community, I think we all did well especially on that arena quest we weren't initially too sure on. You were sportin' some top-quality gear there as well, innit?
  14. Retroed out? I don't think that could ever happen. :awesome: Playing those games in the spirit of MadDog Marathon was fun and besides I've got many more retro games to catch up on for VC Weekly but it was well worth supporting the event. I should be around from 7PM or so... got to test to see how that MHG New 3DS XL console grip holds up using it with the game it was designed for afterall. : peace:
  15. I believe all of that information is indeed correct. So four GP's, Sixteen individual races, Join on flameboy and the Twitch stream is... https://www.twitch.tv/flameboy84 Coming to a Apple Store probably not near you soon, the i-Glen! Price and date to be determined.
  16. OK, again a little later than planned but here we go for Day 2! The game line-up with Sonic, Sega 3D Classics Collection with Sonic... ...Cup of tea in official mug on standbyand as I'm playing on the small screen I'm now watching on the big screen. So that's Sonic along with Sonic 2, then just going for as long as possible on Puyo Puyo 2. I'm keeping it simple today because although I did manage a complete run of SMB3 yesterday, it did take me a while. I'll post some pics after the event but in the time it took me to complete one game, there were loads finished in the live stream so the rest of the games I planned were very brief. You must have JavaScript enabled on your device to view Miiverse posts that have been embedded in a website. View post in Miiverse Anyway, everyone at the Arcade Club did really well I thought, especially raising over £1,400 by the time the stream finished. The next stream has been live for just over an hour now but still just under 23 hours to go so come join us if you can. https://www.twitch.tv/flameboy84 And with that, GottaGoFast!
  17. OK so a little later than planned but here we go! The game line-up, NES mini up and running, the stream running... ...on the Wii U gamepad no less - don't fail me now! - and a cup of tea in a lovely MadDog Marathon mug! Super Mario Bros. 3 (chosen by @Glen\-i) followed by Ghosts 'N Goblins (chosen by @Ugh first aid) with Castlevania after that and hopefully a Justin Bailey run of Metroid. You must have JavaScript enabled on your device to view Miiverse posts that have been embedded in a website. View post in Miiverse https://www.twitch.tv/maddogmarathon And with that, Let's-a-go!
  18. Best of luck to everyone participating at the Arcade Club or who's participating in the streams today. I've been sorting things out here over the past couple of days ready for the NES mini MadDog Marathon as it were. :p This won't be streamed, as I said before it's mainly to raise awareness for the main events as I play some games on the Nintendo Classic mini NES while using the miiverse communities for the titles seperately to spread the word. #MadDogMarathon Some pictures of the Nintendo Classic mini, a blurred shot of some guy looking confused holding the machine and a sort-of picture of that excellent T-Shirt designed by Goafer. As I was scribbling down a mini flyer to keep track of what games I'd be playing though, I had a thought. Because I'll be playing games across two days as well - though not 24 hours consecutively - why not have the second day for Sega 3D Classics? Firstly because it mixes it up a bit and secondly as I can post a few more updates directly with screenshots. So that's what I'll be doing. Day 1 will be all about Nintendo while Day 2 will be Sega. Ultimately though it's about MadDog Marathon and raising awareness/funds. Which NES games will be played? That'd be telling... A couple of forum members know two of the titles as they kind of helped me pick but there will be four in total as I figured instead of unrealistically trying to complete the entire 30 games... ...it would be good to go for four challenging/interesting runs of games which I may stand a chance of completing in a short space of time. I'll reveal what these games are just as soon as I can get everything sorted which will likely be in an hour or so...ish. Let's play some games, raise some money for the Teenage Cancer Trust in Scott's good name. : peace:
  19. R.I.P. Leonard Cohen A legend in the truest sense of the word. While I've only ever listened to some of his music, you only need hear one track of his to demonstrate the power of his performances. I will more than likely check out more of his music, not right now to jump on the bandwagon so to speak - which is certain to happen - but in the near future.
  20. I'll be there in 5 mins or so, just grabbing a hot drink.
  21. @flameboy could you please put @Wii down as taking part, he's already donated but he asked me to put his name down on his behalf, thanks.
  22. My Nintendo Store UK order has shipped! Also ordered one of these USB mains adapters... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262031737358 Plus a couple of Nintendo branded HDMI cables just in case. : peace: Things are looking good for Friday.
  23. I'm sorry to hear that @Blade... I can remember back to when my Grandad passed away, I still miss him to this day but he'll never be forgotten. My condolences to you and your family.
  24. I'm really glad to hear that the £500 target has been met, hopefully we can raise even more over the weekend. On my end though I've been thinking about what I could play and then it hit me, the NES Classic Mini is coming out on the Friday, I have it on order from two places so it will almost certainly arrive on time so I could play through as many NES games as possible on the Friday and Saturday. I think each of the titles already has a miiverse community so on each one I could just post that I'm playing the game for MadDog Marathon but on the NES mini Classic, write a brief thought about the title before playing the game and then take screenshots of the end when I finish each game. : peace: Should I post "#MadDogMarathon" as part of the posts? Will that work? I don't know about posting a full link as I don't want my posts deleted if it comes to that - it'll probably be fine but I'm just covering all eventualities - but let me know either way and I'll do my best.
