    Maybe they'll go for new controls in the next one. Wiimote isn't really suited for a 2D fighter, but whatever they come up with for Wii2 might be. Also, graphics, more characters, more online blablabla. Things can always improve, and if Sakurai gets his hands on it again, I'm pretty confident they will.

    It's a huge difference. The cost of a console reduces much over time as the efficiency in building the new hardware rises through experience and parts get cheaper. In the case of the 360 they managed to revise the hardware, probably leading to even lower costs. Even with these lower prices, they will probably make profit still.

    All the models have an HDMI port, I meant to say which cable was included in the package. Also, Dilli's right, Microsoft started making profit back in late 2006 on the 360s. Especially since they reduced the chip's sizes the 360 is profitable. Also, the attach rates for Wii and PS3 are more like 4.6 games per console.

    Ren, you're hugely underestimating the capacities of Intelligent Systems and Nintendo EAD1. They can make multiple big games at the same time. Also, N-Space and Kuju are studios to consider.

    Ugh. I obtained Brawl through some illegal means, only to find out that I can't play the game in progressive scan on a PAL Wii this way. And my LCD monitor only supports progressive scan... Now I'm stuck with the black and white picture of some crappy composite <> VGA box.

    Yeah, you're right. At this rate, it'll take at least another year for Nintendo to even consider lowering the price. Bundles are a much more attractive option for them.

    Good as the 360 may be, I beg to differ. The Wii perfectly supplies all my gaming needs. Then again, I don't game too much. But it doesn't count for everybody at any rate.

    Hasn't that situation changed ever since Microsoft improved the Xbox 360's manufacturing process so that it consumes less power and generates less heat? (I'm talking about the 90nm -> 65 nm chip size reduction last Autumn).

    Even if Nintendo is worried about the 360 competition (which I really doubt), there's nothing they can do about it as the Wii is selling as fast as it physically can.

    The reason why games are faster on Wii is because it has less memory to fill. The DVD player in the Wii is an 8x reader, while it could've easily been a 12x or 16x reader for a few dollars more per console, and load times in Metroid Prime 3 would've been the same as in MP1. Also, the SD reader is hell slow with me, but maybe it varies per Wii. Anyway, I hope Nintendo has tested the Wii's dual layer reading capabilities beforereleasing the console.

    Probably not, as Nintendo would ask back every Wii out there, and not issue press releases that mention a tiny amount of Wiis having the problem. Nintendo have done a bad enough job with the disc player and SD card reader's speeds, it will be an ultimate fail if the disc player can't even read dual layer DVDs.

    Did you buy the Dell PC from that last thread then? I can recommend you get one with 80+ rating. It's some ecoblabla rating, but it usually means effort was made to improve the efficiency of the PSU, and therefore it was designed with care. Any expensive PSU would do I though, I guess.

    That graph has never held for individual video game consoles (more for the industry in general). The Wii didn't experience the introductory phase for example.

    I know Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace by the Foos by heart, and it's really not a great record but just a good mindless listen. I always sing along with it, much to the amusement of my flatmates (they're going to put me away someday, I'm sure )...

    Stupid fanboy argument again. IGN is one of the most objective news sites out there. They're not always properly informed, but they never take side unjustified. To be honest, I don't think this game'll be that great, Mario Kart has never been a very spectacular franchise. The motion controls and party value will warrant my play though.
