  1. Most games draw the fonts by themselves anyway. It would be stupid to have developers choose from a selection Nintendo made available for them.
  2. On a console like that, we wouldn't have Mario Galaxy. MP3's feel was not that much different to MP2 really, it looked quite a bit better but I don't think MP3 pushed the system - I'm positive that it was an engine that was at least 70% the same, with some modifications to use the additional memory and bloom. I hope Rare are focusing on using all of the hardware now. Yeah, I hope so too, but I think it'll be an action game still. Maybe an action platformer or action RPG like Raven Blade.
  3. I don't think we'll see a Zelda until next year. Aonuma has stated several times the team isn't working particularly hard on making a new Zelda game, and we'll probably only see a Zelda for Q4 2009 or some 2010 date. I really hope so, but I don't know whether they had time enough since Metroid Prime 3 to do so. I also don't see why they should reuse the MP3 engine, really, it's a GameCube engine with added bloom. Yeah, Factor 5 are being quite promising. Nintendo will not make a casual game like Animal Crossing be pay only. I wouldn't be surprised to have in-game advertisements though. Probably. And a hard drive, too. Yeah let's hope so. Maybe Amusement Vision could make it again though, they did an amazing job with GX. Inevitable. Hope they make a 1080 game with optional Balance Board support, too. Yeah, they simply need to continue that game they showed for GameCube, it had such a positive vibe
  4. You can get a switch box. Doesn't your monitor have two ports though? My setup connects my laptop docking to the DVI port of my monitor and my Wii to the VGA port, and I can switch with a press of the button. Nope, you lose VC games. As the older consoles don't support progressive scan (only Wii and some GameCube games do) they can't be displayed unless you connect the Wii some other way. You also can't play European GameCube games apparently.
  5. This thread/video is fucking ridiculous, they can kill all the Afghans and Iraqis they want, but when they throw a cute little puppy off a cliff, then we can attack them. Come on. Bleh, it's really a shame how the media works sometimes.
  6. Put your Wii in progressive scan (the HDTV/EDTV mode). Computer monitors can't display the interlaced output you gave your TV. Also, try putting it in the VGA socket, it's a VGA cable after all...
  7. That's some good points. It's a shame the Wii has such limited memory because games like Wii Sports/Music would be perfect for downloaded content. But yeah, this is eventually going to take over the market. Downloads are considered an alternative to Bluray already, and these downloads are going to grow really big. It's a shame that, again, the Wii is one generation behind (Nintendo is always so slow with this), but I'm confident the Wii2 will have considerable storage. In fact, I think it's really likely that within two generations of video consoles, the consoles won't have a disk drive at all, and you download games on your console.
  8. This must give us some major Resident Evil game eventually...
  9. Can't the PS3 recognize ext3 format? FAT32 is pretty compatible but it only allows for files of 4 GB. With ext3, there are plenty of free apps to format them and read them, and you don't have any limitations.
  10. Apparently there is control about how the ball is shot, but it's not your regular meter. The way it is implemented apparently makes it more realistic.
  11. Tomma1000, it kind of helps to at least attempt to spell when trying to make a point... It's not particularly cool to type the way you do... Anyway, I praise this game for being different, for trying. It's too conservative to wish 'traditional' controls for me.
  12. Why are you so skeptical towards new controls Wii games have to offer? This is a major step forward, it would be really lame to have classical controls even if they are not perfect yet.
  13. Seems they learned from the criticism they got from their Melee review This score is exactly as I expected. Edit: SSBB is currently averaging out on 98.3% on GameRankings
  14. That does look very awesome. It's somewhat similar to KDE4's look and feel, but it seems even better.
  15. The gameplay videos we've seen weren't particularly impressive. The lighting is pretty good, but almost all of the trailer could be done on Wii with some tuning down. Most Xbox 360 games are shader heavy, and the Wii is pretty capable in that area as shown in Mario Galaxy (which ran at 60 fps while this game can easily settle on 30). The dust effects and HDR rendering and whatnot have to be replaced, but the Wii does have some eye candy compensation of that on its own. The HDR lighting can be replaced with bloom lighting, the dynamic lighting will have to be simplified, and the textures and models will have to be downgraded a bit. It'll look worse, sure, but it'll be a gorgeous Wii game. The Wii doesn't have the sheer computational power to remake the PS360 physics, but it does run a simplified version of Havoc that makes for some decent reproduction in that area too. Remember the bridge scene with Luis? There were lots of enemies there. If they'd run the RE4 engine on Wii it could probably run 40 enemies at the same time already, and a new engine would allow it, too. To be honest, 30 to 40 unique enemies isn't too impressive for a PS360 game. The Wii stores 8.5GB on a dual-layer drive as seen in the chipping scene, but Brawl somehow uses only 1.5 layer (probably cheaper or something). The Wii is definetely capable to view the entire disk, so it has as much storage as the 360. I don't know whether the Wii's driver is slower, but then again, it only needs to fill 88 to 104 MBs of memory, whereas the 360 has to fill more than 512, which is quite the difference. The Wii will probably have much faster loading times. Anyway, what's your source on this game's size? I think we're talking about different things. Resident Evil 5 won't run on Wii the way it does on the PS360, but the Wii is definetely capable of representing the graphical presentation and gameplay features that are so next-gen on the PS360 in a good way on its own, whilst adding Wiimote controls. Capcom will need to make a custom engine, and will need to change the scenario (a bit or a complete side story, which is no problem as it's a different game than RE5 PS360) for it to better fit the Wii's strengths and weaknesses. I think it's all worth this, because I can personally guarantee Capcom that a game like that will sell more than 2 million units on Wii.
  16. No that's pretty awesome. Holding Z means that the computer knows you're going to slide, so it's probably quite accurate. Should be better than flicking the nunchuck to shoot, I think.
  17. Nope, can't go. It'll be right in my exam period unfortunately.
  18. Why are you blaming it on fanboyism? I really like Apple stuff, but the iPod is really overrated. I'd much rather have a Creative or Zune, to be frank. I also hate iTunes.
  19. It's called Windows Explorer... Click on Start/Windows Logo and search for Folder Options (nice feature finally implemented in Windows in Vista). Click on it, and look around whether you can find an option to show 'Hidden Files'. Enable hidden files, and then follow the instructions above. I'm on an XP machine at the moment, so that's as detailed as I can get.
  20. I think Capcom is doing rather well. Resident Evil Zero is a bit random, but it's as if they're trying to fill holes in an empty market with it, which is kind of an okay attempt. They will probably have a Wii blowout at the E3, at least I hope they will. I also expect other third parties to unveil major projects for Wii, as they should have been smelling money for a year by then.
  21. How could Datel even think about releasing a FreeLoader when it does something like this? Obviously, they've fixed this problem and they will have made it work. There are applications that can break the firmware out of a Wii ISO as it has a fixed position on each disk. It wouldn't be hard to program the Wii FreeLoader so that it doesn't read that specific area and just runs the game. Also, the reason why Nintendo didn't block the FreeLoader for a long time is because it runs some code to boot it up that was used in Crazy Taxi (like pedro said). If they would've blocked it, then they would've rendered Crazy Taxi useless, which would probably piss off Sega and people wanting to play that horrible game.
  22. Come on Stuwii, there's a Valve thread on this very page, and nobody is interested in petitions (or your topics in general so far). The Orange Box should be doable on Wii blabla, but we're not going to make a difference. Anyway, the guys that ported the Orange Box to the 360 or PS3 (one of the two) are apparently working on Wii material now. They specifically stated that the scalabality of the Source Engine powering the HL games in the Orange Box would work great on Wii. Who what that's going to turn out to be.
  23. I'm really verbally capable in real life: - I talk to no ends - I make no sense (ever) - I win arguments by tiring out others - I'm notoriously clumsy and scattered And at times I'm really cocky. Most of the time I'm a happy and enthusiastic guy to be around though
  24. Yeah, Datel must've fixed the automatic installation of firmware updates problem as well. It'll brick your Wii if you install foreign firmware. Let's hope they fixed the problem of having double Weather and News Channels as well.
  25. Wii Pay and Play would be a bit too perfect for Nintendo to completely ignore it in Animal Crossing. I doubt you need it to enjoy AC to the fullest though - as Tellyn said, it's probably made with 3rd parties in mind.
