  1. Those things you mention don't have anything to do with polygons, as they are achieved with bump mapping and other techniques the Wii has superior capability of over compared to last gen. The bump mapping on her model is something the Wii can handle. Also, the atmosphere is mainly achieved because it's all very grey, and some because of some fog effects the N64 could do. The Wii did this level of detail in the Resident Evil games, in fact, I think that the RE Zero characters were even more detailed. Those textures are more than commonplace in 360/PS3 titles, nothing to get fussed about really. Anyway, IMJ could be right. I'm finding it hard to believe a developer would put so much effort in a Wii game at once. In that case, this isn't very good FMV, as it's all really bland, and doesn't go beyond a 360 game at all.
  2. I'd say it can, textures can really improve much on Wii compared to the GameCube as it has over three times the memory, and that polycount was achieved in Resi 4 too. As the game seems confined to small spaces, this level of detail is probably quite doable. It simply doesn't look as good as a 360 game, so either it's poor FMV or a nice effort. Judging the lack of shading, and the flatness of the textures (bump-mapped but not a large degree), my guess it's in game. If it is, then yay at these developers, well done!
  3. I really think Nintendo is done sequelling. There's a Mario, Mario Kart, Mario Party, Zelda, Metroid, Batallion Wars, Fire Emblem and more out on the Wii. We'll get Animal Crossing and Pikmin next year, and maybe F-Zero. But for the rest, it should all be new IPs, or dead old ones (Kid Icarus) that no one remembers anyway. I'm especially wondering what Intelligent Systems is up to.
  4. Wow, that's great. Are those FMV shots though? They look so.. detailed? Hard to judge
  5. Mario Stadium is probably outsourced to a small Nintendo second party, and Wii Music is being handled by a small subteam of Nintendo EAD Kyoto, probably the same team that did Wii Sports. Nothing substantially taxing their development rescources though. And yeah, EAD Kyoto is likely working on Animal Crossing as well, but we are yet to see confirmation. Should be a mind blowing game though. Kirby, most likely in de development by HAL Laboratory, is wishful thinking as its development was specifically denied last year. I really hope it's coming though, as video of the supposed GameCube version is awesome. The music makes me happy.
  6. Although the cloning is quite disappointing, I suppose it's only to satisfy the old fans. I'm really happy with the character set though, and there are a lot of characters going to be refreshing. I wonder whether Luigi will get a Poltergust move, like Mario's Fludd move.
  7. Yeah, Twilight Princess made some beautiful surreal graphics, and Okami has really left me wondering if Nintendo tried a more surreal Zelda on a more powerful console than a Nintendo 64. Majora's Mask would look really funky and stylish on Wii, so I hope they do something like that. Not that I want a Majora's Mask 2, but another surreal Zelda with its own style would be awesome. This different style would also lend itself really well to some new gameplay innovations, they could make it a really experimental game The next Zelda will probably be unique in its own way, as the next next Zelda will probably be on Wii2 with much more control innovations.
  8. Yes, Twilight Princess specifically refers to the Ocarina of Time there, I forgot. It must follow that Twilight Princess follows the Adult timeline after Ocarina of Time. Does Ganondorf posess the Triforce of Power there already? I think Nintendo only started to make the legend complete after Ocarina of Time; official staments about A Link to the Past are too mixed, and the first two Zeldas aren't really rich in story. The Oracles are a bit too general, but they fit in pretty much everywhere after Ocarina of Time and before the Wind Waker.
  9. Mario Party 9 is definetely a game that'll be made by Hudson Soft, and if we get Mario Tennis Wii, it'll be a great game, and it'll most likely be made by Camelot Software Planning, all 2nd/3rd parties. The point is that Nintendo EAD Kyoto is HUGE studio capable of developing eight big games at the time, and the only thing we know they're working on for certain is Mario Kart - there have got to be working on stuff behind the scenes. Also, Nintendo EAD Tokyo (SMG), Intelligent Systems (also really big studio), AlphaDream (Mario & Luigi), HAL Labs (Kirby, SSBM), NST (1080, MP: Hunters) and aforementioned Camelot (Golden Sun) have been quiet lately and some have even be quiet for the last two years. There are some big first/second party announcements coming. @DazzeL: I strongly disagree. The Wii's aim is the exact opposite - I don't see how you could be so conservative.
  10. True. Most sensible would be Majora's Mask -> Link IIIb: Twilight Princess(?) -> Link IV: A Link To The Past -> Link's Awakening (?) -> Link V: Zelda I -> Zelda II
  11. The best fitting theory is something like this. Link I: The Minish Cap -> Four Swords Advance -> Four Swords Adventures Link II: Ocarina of Time -> Majora's Mask (splits into the ending with Young Link) Link III: (splits into the ending with Adult Link) The Wind Waker -> Phantom Hourglass The Oracles, the NES games, Link's Awakening and A Link to the Past can be appended to either branch (although the Young Link branch is a bit more probable), but they didn't seem to have been working on any storyline before Ocarina. The Oracles have a too general background, so they fit almost everywhere.
  12. QFT Metroid is going to be well represented with stages, bosses, and assists. I hope there's a Metroid assist trophy.
  13. People would be pissed if veterans wouldn't have returned. Can't keep everybody happy. I'd say this is as good as I could've imagined it. We don't know how cloney they are, for all we know Ness has a new moveset because he isn't even supposed to be able to do all his PK stuff (he couldn't in Earthbound). F-Zero and Metroid will get plenty of representation in stages, assists and bosses, as there simply aren't enough iconic characters in the games that are capable of being a Smash Bros. character. There wouldn't be a difference between TWW and TMC Link except for the bird head. We don't know his attacks now, so we can't judge. Anyway, we don't have to spoiler any more because of the other thread.
  14. I think the next Zelda will take the realistic approach once more, and it will be like a Majora's Maskish/Link's Awakenish side story of some sort. That's because the realistic graphics could be stretched further judging Mario Galaxy, and because we haven't had home console side stories for a while now (unless you count FSA). As for gameplay, I think we're going to get something really different. Maybe more towards the point and click of Phantom Hourglass. I expect huge changes there.
  15. Thread explosion here!
  16. Well, you can, but you shouldn't. Not to say that FE and SPM (or SSBB for that matter) aren't good games, but the Wii should provide is with more innovation than that. I mean, hell, FE doesn't even use the pointer, makes no sense whatsoever.(right?)
  17. Tapedeck's point is actually referring to the lack of originality in games, the reason why this topic was actually started, before it went "Lack of Games" thread #213. You can't just make a GameCube game a Wii game, that's the whole point here.
  18. The Wii runs Mario Galaxy at 60 fps. It can handle Half-Life 2 and the Source engine. It'll maximize the console, something we really need.
  19. I have one through a Uni deal, and it works really well.
  20. Eh? This is a good thing, a very good thing. DS gets support enough as it is.
  21. spirited is right here, that's the way I see it too. If I had the time I'd love to have a 360, but for me the, Wii provides me with more than enough entertainment. I imagine that if I did have the time and the money, I'd have a 360.
  22. I'm really getting into LCD Soundsystem now, they are awesome! I really like this dance-punk music or whatever they classify it as.
  23. Is that because the Wii is so bad, or because of the 360 being very good? I mean, the 360 has had an exceptional year, and has had a year lead start, too. If I had a 360 I'd probably say the same, it's really a fantastic console. That does nothing to the quality of the Wii titles, though. Last year has been a better year than the GameCube ever had.
  24. The DS and Wii will have officially passed the GBA and Cube by next year ^_^ Nintendo has been on fire since 2005
