I'm with @Josh in that I enjoyed Starfox Aventures. Did I love it, no, but it was a fun game. The Boss battles were great and the environments were beautiful. The characters weren't great but I enjoyed the different tale on Starfox given that I actually am not a fan of Starfox 64 or the remake, I just don't enjoy it. I haven't played Assault. I do feel there was a massively missed opportunity in this game not sticking a little truer to Fox as a character and utilising his blaster in the game instead of the staff. Had the game been more of a Jet Force Gemini, than a Banjo Kazooie, it could have been a faster more action like game. I too am skeptical about the future of the Starfox series. I have a feeling Nintendo themselves would just re-make the same game over and over if left to their own devices; at least Rare and Namco mixed things up a bit. I'd like Nintendo to let another studio have a go at it.

Can I un-meet them? Nah only joking, they look ok. The only one is Jamie Bell, with his body shape being tall and skinny, I can't really imagine how that turns into The Thing. Maybe he'll bulk up, but his face would still be slim. Anyway, yeah this would have been in much better hands back at Marvel. This feels rushed, considering they're still casting and want to get it out for next year.

A series of massive significance?...... Audio Confirmed.

Dude you're so wrong! "And here...... we have...... the Kongs"

So should have been Attenborough!

*pauses* He could at least get the name right "The Horder: 1886"

I am of course joking. I will pretty much well up at anything, be it Love Actually, The Holiday, The Time Travelers Wife etc...

The problem Bayonetta has though is it's not a very popular franchise to begin with. If the Wii U could get it's Twin Snakes or Resi 4, then maybe they'd start getting somewhere with perception. Sadly the chances of this just get smaller and smaller. Monster Hunter seems to be one of the only potentially multi-platform franchises that Nintendo seem to be able to land exclusives of. The Wii U already has one of course, but an exclusive MH5 would surely do wonders; although unfortunately they take an age to get released. Of course Nintendo could throw money around, but they don't. I do think LEGO Nintendo could do wonders though.
-
It's not though, because people can still pick up DK once they've picked up the Wii U for Metroid for example. Nintendo should be concerned with driving Hardware sales. New Super Mario Bros has the potential to sell 20+million copies, but if only 3million people own a WiiU, that's all they're going to get. DK isn't a hardware driver, they should be focusing on putting out a diverse library of games instead, be they new games, or HD remakes.

Yeah but is that not just looking at it from a software sales perspective? It's about attach rates. Personally speaking, a new Retro made Metroid would sell me a Wii U, where as DKCTF would not. DKCTF is a game I would pick up if I had a Wii U, but not a game I would pick a Wii U up for. (outside of Japan obviously, as they're not bothered about Metroid, though nor a new DK by the looks of it)

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

Anyone have any way of finding out what DCKR and DKCR3D sold in Japan in their first weeks by comparison? Has DK been a strong franchise in Japan? Maybe the Mario vs. DK games too. -
So excited.

Tbf even if it's a whole new NFC game it's still choice! Nintendo aren't forcing anyone to go out and start collecting these figures for a new game. They'd be mad to ignore it. But anyway, I don't mean to get this thread moved on to the business side of it. I think Nintendo should release a Disney Infinity style toy box, that would be the dream game to come of this. If not, then a Warner Bros. LEGO Nintendo game, where by the game itself is self contained just like any other LEGO game, but NFC would be built into the LEGO sets and figures that accompany the game, and they could provide alternate costumes and DLC missions etc... to expand the game, and it's post game content. I still love the idea of collecting NFC Smash Trophies too, but don't really see a good use for them without actually building Smash around them from the start.

Yeah I think we all understand why Kirby was put into Epic Yarn, but really it was a cowardly decision by Nintendo to not start a new franchise with it. We'd be getting the sequel to it later this year, and maybe we'd all be looking forward to that a lot more than we might Yarn Yoshi (which of course could be great) as it'd be a character and a world still new to us (who will the enemy be, what adventure and worlds will we experience)... instead of being able to predict already how and what Yarn Yoshi will be.

Althooooough, there is ALOT of money and potential sales to be made from the Skylanders/Disney Infinity approach... so whilst to some of us it might seem like money we don't want to spend, that's the selfish approach as actually it really should be something Nintendo pursue, as they have the PERFECT library of characters and location for it. I think I heard on IGN the other day too when they were talking about that idea I mentioned above, that Skylanders has now actually outsold Barbie!!... which is insane!! Apparently it's the world biggest selling figure or something, however the toys themselves cannot actually be classed as figures or something, and therefore Barbie still holds on to it.

One of the IGN staff suggested Nintendo could use it as a way of physically selling you eShop games and vouchers. So you go into a store and buy a Mario figure which you scan to purchase Mario Bros. on the eShop. The collectable figurine aspect could generate more digital sales, and they could promote upcoming games/make people aware of what new eShop titles via these figures.

Yeah (well no in the first Smash they were soft toys), it's just on all levels or the subspace emissary you loose all scale, or they appear like life-size trophies, until you get to Master Hand.

haha, awesome work man!
-
That's cool, with the block it somewhat reminds me of the first Smash Bros intro and the true size of the characters born from toys.

@Jonnas Just to point out, it was Shenmue 1 and 2 that popularised QTE's and showed the industry the many different ways in which they could be implemented during gameplay. They were released in 1999/2001 Resi 4 and God of War 1 both came out in 2005, two months apart. -
That was incredible. "I didn't know how this machine worked" LOL
-
Yeah ok that's incredible! Love the N64 display especially!

Bye bye Irrational Games... :'(

Nice These guys and girls would surely fit in extremely well at a studio like Retro! If you look at the art and design of Bioshock alongside that of Metroid, they would be very exciting additions! and not that Nintendo will step in and insure these guys get snapped up, but it would be a natural way of making Retro into a two team studio. Hope we hear some more news as to where they end up. -
To me this gameplay showing seems similar to that of X during the Nintendo Direct. In that I think they felt they needed to show something, but actually after what they chose to show, maybe they shouldn't have bothered. To me this felt like it could have come from the games tutorial level or something. Let's wait for the next trailer and E3 before judging it.
