  1. Yeah, that is pretty odd. So soon after the game as well.
  2. It's fine to be self-aware, but do they really have to use the Resident Evil licence in order to do that? The films share few similarities with the games. I remember playing the first game and thought it would make an awesome movie. I won't be seeing this. The first film is ok in places, awful in others. The second film is just terrible.
  3. Say what you want, Tapedeck is now getting the recognition he fully deserves. Long live, TeeDee.
  4. I think it's understandable, he'll probably be kicking himself about the first goal for a long time. It would have been 0-0 at halftime had that not happened. He's going to be deflated. The match has barely finished.
  5. Beer tastes like arse to me. My drink of preference is this: It's lovely. Along with a bottle of this: I love fruity tasting stuff. Such as fruit. Fruit flavoured drinks = yummm.
  6. That picture of Abidal gripping him by the neck is awful. It's even like he's pushing him. Its a fucking death grip. Straight red, that should be. The majority of the game was Barcelona attacking and Arsenal defending. Like with the first goal, however it came, it was just a matter of time until the ball found the back of the net. Like Inter last year, although they won the tie overall, they still ended up conceding at the Nou Camp. Sending off was very harsh. It does potentially change the outlook of the game since the striker's job in this instance would be to keep hold of the ball in the other end of the field. An outlet. Without an outlet, you're just going to see more and more pressure.
  7. They're not the worst tackles you'll see. Not the best either. Typical tackles you'd expect to see in a Derby. It's a hot-headed game. I don't think either one was a dead certain red card. Two yellows is about right.
  8. John Mensah's shoulder says: Happy Birthday, TeeDee.
  9. I know about his media blackout, but what about the blackout involving the players? I didn't hear anything about that until after the game. To be honest, I fear for the rest of the season. If Nani is out for a good few weeks, then it's going to be a huge problem, as he's been one of our best players this year. Not just goal-scoring wise, but he's got a high number of assists as well.
  10. Electroplankton All that you need in life.
  11. Yes. And 3 of them (not sure about Becks, although he still fondly talks of Old Trafford) have stated (Heinze very recently admitted he regretted leaving) that they made mistakes in leaving Old Trafford. Ruud has settled any disputes that he had with Fergie. Heinze wanted to play for Liverpool shortly after the arrival of Evra, so that isn't really a great example. He was the antagonist. Also, how many of these players went on to better things after leaving United? Ruud continued to score goals, and won La Liga twice with Real. Beckham once, but even he didn't truely achieve anything that great when he left. Don't forget that two of those players won the treble with United. They never even came close to achieving anything like this with their other clubs. Nowhere near. Also remember that news of David Beckham's affair dominated the press whilst he was at Real. These types of stories are exactly the reason why Fergie wanted him out. He was a timebomb waiting to happen. These players fell out with the manager for a reason, mainly because some of them were hot-headed to begin with (Stam and Heinze) or adored the celebrity lifestyle and put that before the team (Beckham) or that simply Sunny Spain came calling (Ruud, David and Heinze). For a list of positive man-management, lets take a look at Beckham after France 1998. The public wanted to hang the boy. It's really irritating now that the country seems him as a golden boy when they really hated him at one point. The same with Owen Hargreaves, the media love him now but before they didn't want "That German" playing for England. (he wasn't a United player at the time, but using him as an example about the media) And with Ronaldo after the "winker" incident. What about curbing Rooney's temper? He's not doing well at the moment in the press, but he was a completely different hazard when he came to the club. What about Roy Keane? Fergie got the best out of him. Cantona after his kung-fu antics? A lot of these are fiery players. Simply put, who could have done a better job with any of these? I can't name a single living manager who I can safely say would have controlled these in any better way than Fergie has done. Edit: Also, just read up on Ruud. He also had a tendency to start fights during training. There was one in his final year where he started a fight with Ronaldo. So, that's another reason why he was outted from the club.
  12. So? It doesn't make a difference to the fact that the focus has already changed from the Fused Shadows to the Twilight Mirror before the Arbiter's Grounds. You go in search of the Mirror soon after obtaining the Master Sword. That whole interlude where you go to Hyrule Castle and then into the Grove to get the Master Sword is a great conclusion to the first part of the game. It's a pedantic debate anyway, and doesn't really serve any purpose. Whether the first half of the game ends here or there, what difference does it make? It's still very enjoyable and I'm loving it right now.
  13. Yeah, I always have a hard time interacting with fans like that. I remember being called a "Liverpool Lover" by a United supporter in the past, for saying that they played well against another team. He kept bringing that up for weeks. He does this type of thing, such as when he criticises referees and stuff, to take the attention away from the team. It relieves the pressure. You read up on his comments on every game that he loses (Mourinho does the same) and you'll see what I mean. As far as man-management goes, these two are the best in the business for a reason. Like after the Chelsea game, much of the focus was centered around the penalty decision and the referee not sending off Luiz, and not so much down to the fact that United switched off in the second half. It's all mind-games, and I don't think Ferguson particularly cares if people see him as acting childish. There was one incident last year where United drew 2-2 with Sunderland, with Ben Foster making a hash of a save which led to a goal. Rather than draw attention to that, he talked about the fitness of referees. The media lapped it up and ran that story for a full few weeks. Why did he do it? To protect the keeper.
  14. Haha, that Jose one is brilliant. Also, the Steven Gerrard one, where Gary gets one last word in at the end of the video. "Quite similar to how he went down for the penalty!" I'm surprised there aren't more Liverpool fans in this thread. I was expecting an onslaught.
  15. On a lighter note, I've been watching some funny clips to try to cheer me up.
  16. That's a nice picture. At the end of the day, football is only a game. The Wolves/Spurs game afterwards with the tributes to Dean Richards certainly puts things into perspective. Also, Carragher went to the United dressing room after the game to apologise and check up on Nani. A very respectful and decent thing to do.
  17. Don't...tempt me, Frodo. I have a ton of games I need to get through at the moment, plus I'm trying to be good with money. So, I'm going to have to decline the offer right now, thanks. Although, I hope somebody else does take you up on that. A tenner seems like a good price.
  18. That's the date the site switched over to Revo-Europe. What was your username on the old boards? I can't remember what date I joined C-E, but I was there, yes. Miss that place.
  19. Is anyone else still a bit bitter about that Mario Anniversary pack? The packaging looks great, but the content is quite meh. It was such a missed opportunity to do something really special. I do hope we get something better with Zelda. Like it has already been mentioned, we've had the Collector's Edition, although that was missing A Link To The Past. Maybe we'll get something like...4 Swords, playable over the net. 4 Swords for WiiWare, so downloadable. Maybe.
  20. Why are we comparing this to Prime, though? It's not trying to be like Prime, except for perhaps mimicking the first person viewpoint for some sections. It's much more comparable to something like Metroid Fusion than Prime. Also, Prime was much more epic in scale because the game took place firstly across a Space Station and then across a Planet. Other M all took place within a Bottle Ship. (again, that's why its comparable with Fusion). Super Mario Galaxy is done solely by Nintendo, whereas Nintendo recruited Team Ninja for this. Is this their first Wii game? Not sure. But, Mario Galaxy was always going to be much more ambitious, because its a leading title for the platform. It's Nintendo's baby. Its quite strange how it was the other way around for the Cube though, with Prime leading the charge. I do see what you're getting at, but I don't agree. The story is well told, the cutscenes are well animated and they nailed the gameplay and graphical look. Also, the soundtrack is quite under-rated. It deserves to be full price. However, there seems to be a culture on the Wii for people to buy games when they're reduced, rather than straight away. Except when those two games are...Mario and Zelda. It did nail all of these, though. Maybe it's down to interpretation, but the controls were good, and the switching between 1st and 3rd person was seamless, I thought. Perhaps the only criticism was possibly being unable to use missiles in third person viewpoint, but that's as far as it goes. It pretty much played like the old school sidescrolling Metroid games with the d-pad, which was great. It didn't need the analogue stick.
  21. Ok, I found some time yesterday to sit down and play some more of this. I'm now at:
  22. The story has already shifted focus even before the Arbiter's Grounds. You start off the game having to find the 3 Fused Shadow Parts. After the confrontation with Zant, you then have to find the Master Sword. Once you've got the sword and once you're able to switch between your wolf form and human form, from then on, the game becomes about the Mirror of Twilight. It's only after the Arbiter's Grounds that we learn that the Mirror is broken and split up into parts, but even before that section the Mirror is the new focus of the game. You could maybe argue that the Arbiter's Ground section is a bridge between part 1 and 2, but by that point the game has moved on from its initial objective, which was to find the 3 Fused Shadows. Also, in the majority of Zelda games, the midpoint is where you find the Master Sword. It was the midpoint in Ocarina, for example, and also in A Link To The Past (along with the battle with Agahnim). I don't see why its any different here. I spoke too soon.
  23. That's some excellent information there, thank you. This seems like a new age Micro Machines game. I'm really tempted, but also skint at the moment.
  24. When you say lap based, what do you mean exactly? Multiple laps until the race ends?
  25. Good man. Now that the Wind Waker fans have buggered off to that Skyward Sword thread, hopefully we can get some positive discussion going about the game.
