  1. Yo Adrian! Happy Birthday, Goron.
  2. I quite like that suit. The texture is pretty special, looks like you can reach into the screen and touch it. Plus you can see the muscle definition through it.
  3. Hmm, single player is quite under-rated these days. I'm not a huge fan of this online/clan culture, particularly with first person shooters. I'm also a little bit worried for that genre, especially if the games become solely about online. I know the Wii is being touted as this party console, but the single player experiences on the system have been quite special for me. You played Other M, dude?
  4. What? Running over somebody's leg does not count as tripping them up. He didn't even move his leg to impede Zhirkov from getting past him. He was literally just standing still. This is one thing that grates on me. Sometimes people do accidentally collide with each other in the box, it doesn't mean it's a foul or it's a dive or whatever. Right, so Luiz is a "lucky boy" but Rooney should be burned at the stake, when basically they are in the same boat where they have done something off the ball and the referee has not spotted it? I'm not for once saying that what Luiz did is similar to Rooney's elbowing, but rather that they both escaped referee punishment when they both should have walked. Like I mentioned, United didn't boss the game in the second half. But, I think it is an entirely fair and valid point to criticse the referee when, say, the winning goal is the result of a penalty which is splitting opinions, and where arguably the best Chelsea player tonight remains on the field when he perhaps should have walked with about 15-20 mins to go. Edit: I probably seem like a moody bastard right now. Fucking football. More emotional than a love rollercoaster.
  5. It's all well and good saying that Gerrard should have been banned now, but how many Liverpool fans even acknowledged that fact at the time? How many Liverpool players actually remember the elbow on Welbeck? What Rooney did was wrong and stupid, and he deserved a ban. But he didn't get one. Interesting talking point: Why isn't any action getting taken against the referee? He didn't deal with the situation correctly, so he should be up for investigation as well.
  6. Smalling didn't do anything but stand his ground. In that splitsecond, he's hardly going to move out of the way to let an attacking player past him. There was a similar incident in the first half where Torres ran into Evra and the freekick was given to Chelsea, when there was very little in it either way.
  7. I'm so annoyed after that game. For the neutral, it must have been amazing to watch. Definitely one of the better Chelsea/Man Utd games in recent years. First half, I thought United were all over them. We had control of the midfield and the flanks, and I thought Nani and Evra were linking up well, with Fletcher showing some great moments as well. The half time lead was deserved. Second half, as soon as they got the equaliser (wtf was up with the marking), we crumbled. Instead of tightening up and forcing a reply, we just caved in. It's hugely disappointing given the fantastic start we made. As for the penalty, I don't think it was a penalty. Smalling had no time to react and Zhirkov just ran into him. How is that deemed a foul yet Luiz has one or two instances in the second half where he gets away with things that are a bit more blatant, especially with the score tied and a large portion of the game to play? There's no use arguing about that though, because you can't control what the referee does. But, you can control the way that you play or boss the game, and we didn't boss it in the second half. Big opportunity missed. Also, JonST, the point you make about Rooney is moot at this moment in time. As far as football goes, what happened took place in a different game, and the situation has been clarified. So, whether he should have been punished or not is a different matter. He's played the game tonight and I'm just glad that he let his football do most of the talking. For example, in the next Chelsea game, if David Luiz does score a winning goal, there's no point anybody bringing up the fact that he should have walked in this game, since the moment has been and gone. I find it funny how people pick and choose which incidents to bring up. Do you not remember Gerrard "assaulting" Danny Welbeck just a few months ago? Or what about the whole incident with him "assaulting" people off the field, particularly nightclub DJs? As a Liverpool fan, maybe you should look at your own players before criticising others.
  8. You do hear managers say that quite often. If it was Nani or Scholes who was caught elbowing, then Fergie's reaction would have been different. I think it's understandable why Fergie didn't slate Rooney, because the guy has seemed incredibly off the boil this season, and the comments would just further add to that, even if he was clearly in the wrong. Plus, as the matter had already been "dealt with" (in the wrong way by the ref) there probably wasn't much point in saying owt anyway, since the matter had been sorted. Also, what Fergie says and what he does are two very different things, which we should know by now. If he hasn't got a slating in front of the media, he'll be getting one behind closed doors anyway. To be honest, the guy needs the season to end as soon as possible. He needs to take the time out to look at himself.
  9. Rooney is being a right twat this season. First off with his private life, then all that shit with him leaving, then getting a stupid contract, then this crap with him elbowing another player. He's a United player, so the fans will stick by him. So will the manager, that's why Fergie defended him. Plus, if he did come out and condemn Rooney, it would have a negative effect on his performances on the pitch, which aren't that good anyway. Like I said, he's a United player, so the majority of fans will stick by him as long as he wears the shirt. But, there's only so far you can push or take the piss, and he is taking the royal piss. He could do to learn a thing or two from Little Pea, who is giving everything for the team and is just thankful to be playing here. Humility goes a long way.
  10. I remember the game being crazy. Also, that 4-2 game at Highbury is one of my favourite all time games. For everything. For what went on before the game with Keane, Neville and Vieira, for the great goals, for the feisty tackles. At that point, the Arsenal vs Man United games were the ones I looked for in the calender. They were guaranteed to be edgey games, with some grit to them. It was like watching a war. I kinda miss those days.
  11. Yeah, they are definitely the worst. Also, they're grumpy as hell. If you ever see a happy Leeds fan, he is probably high.
  12. It doesn't get brought up too often, so you'll be fine. :p
  13. That's when the run ended, yes. Although, a lot of people do tend to forget how the run was extended, thanks to a Robert Pires dive against Pompey. As you say, water under the bridge. Great achievement to go the season unbeaten. Definitely can't see that being done for a long time, particularly with teams getting stronger. That "time to laugh at Arsenal" thread is insane!
  14. Haha, nooo. Slanging matches can be quite fun. We're a bit too liberal, maybe. Anyway, gloating does have its place in football. When Liverpool ripped us a new hole 4-1 at Old Trafford, I received a loooot of stick for that. Its bound to happen. When Tottenham beat Arsenal 3-2 earlier in the season, Dazzy was probably dishing it out as well. There's a bit of a difference though, because the ones giving it are the ones that are directly taking part in the game. So, it would seem odd for example if a Scunthorpe fan starts laughing at Arsenal if they end up losing at the Nou Camp.
  15. Exactly. Something like this. No shitty adventure on foot modes, no turn-based or "strategic" fighting that serves no point (I'm looking at you Starfox Command...wtf). Basically, I want Lylat Wars, but taken to the next level. Give us Lylat Wars 2: The Empire Strikes Back. Also, the only other game I truely want is F Zero. Take GX and again go further with that. GX had everything. Superb gameplay, excellent graphics and audio, rammed full of content, brilliant story mode, well designed courses, fuck loads to unlock and do outside of the main game...it had everything. Mario Kart could learn a thing or two from GX. My dream game would be Electroplankton for the Wii. Mama.
  16. I missed the game as I was travelling home, so I was frantically checking my phone's internet for the score. My battery died when Birmingham went 2-1 up, I was fuming! Just seen the highlights. Great final, could easily have been an FA Cup Final. To have a good final, you need an underdog with that fighting spirit, and Birmingham had that today. Well done to them, but also well done Arsenal for making it a good final. By far the two best players on the pitch were Ben Foster and Jack Wilshere. Both were outstanding. That last goal though, both Arsenal players will be replaying that moment for a long time. Its freakish, and its a shame that the result of the game had to be decided on a moment like that. It would either have taken something like that or a moment of magic to win the goal. I'm chuffed for Ben Foster. He's an excellent shot-stopper, it's just a shame that he never quite made it at United. Good on you, lad. Yeah, this is probably my favourite thread on the whole forum. Can't remember the last time when this thread turned into a slanging match or anything like that. Not for a long time anyway.
  17. Former Spurs Defender Dean Richards Dies He died at the age of 36, due to a mystery illness by the sounds of things.
  18. 10 was quite well balanced from what I remember of it. You had to more to it than just the passing game, as you say. It definitely does feel like you have to whore the passing system to get the most out of things in 11, which makes the game seem quite one dimensional. It does seem that Fifa is trying to emulate some of what Pro Evo does, by looking at their approach of what the beautiful game is about. Passing is just one aspect of football. You've got dribbling, wing play, counter-attacking, scoring from set pieces, etc. Fifa needs to look at all these elements. Which brings me to another point: Penalty Kicks. Did anyone else struggle with this at first?
  19. I have heard that people with Vodafone don't receive a great reception in perhaps more remote places. My ex was with Vodafone and she had a hard time getting any signal when she was staying at my campus when I was Uni, which was quite a long way out from the rest of Brighton. It does differ quite drastically from location to location.
  20. It's not to do with the realism aspect. I want a football game where the games are tight, there's simply no fun in smashing your opponents in double figures like you could in previous editions. It's not that. The pace is simply too slow and doesn't reflect the actual game, in my opinion. Like I said, to me Fifa has always had this Match of the Day vibe, with the commentary, that Saturday afternoon look whilst also having some pacey encounters. Having the game at a snail's pace does not equal realism. Far from it. Who said anything about losing? I've won the majority or drawn the majority of games I've played. It's just that there's no real fun factor when you win these games. Previous editions of Fifa had me up on my feet during multiplayer. I don't think I've had that feeling yet with this game.
  21. There was the potential there for a brilliant trailer, but in the end it just looks quite ordinary. Too much of the plot being shown whilst really it should have been suggestive. This is how the trailer should have looked.
  22. The more I play this on my housemate's PS3, the more I dislike the game. To me, Fifa is all about fun, whilst also retaining that "Match of the Day" look and feel. This even goes back to the SNES days with Fifa 96. However, I find this edition to be quite bland. From what I've played, it seems to be easier to defend than it is to build up attacks, considering that the speed that the players run at has been reduced. A step back from the previous edition, imo. It just isn't all that fun to play.
  23. Seriously, there are plenty of great third party games for the Wii. In fact, it is absolutely criminal at how under exposed these games have been. Here is a list of some of the quality third party games on the system: Little Kings Story Dead Space: Extraction Muramasa Silent Hill: Shattered Memories No More Heroes 1 & 2 de Blob Zack and Wiki Epic Mickey House of the Dead 2 & 3, Overkill Red Steel 2 Modern Warfare Reflex Medal of Honour 2: Heroes Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition The Umbrella and Darkside Chronicles Fragile Dreams Okami Mercury Meltdown Revolution Eledees Cursed Mountain Deadly Creatures Monster Hunter Tri Rune Factory Frontier Klonoa Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World Tatsunoko vs Capcom Boom Blox Bash Party Geometry Wars Galaxy Tiger Woods PGA Tour EA Grand Slam Tennis Blast Works Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars Call of Duty: Black Ops Goldeneye 007 The Pro Evo games The bolded games are the ones that I own. Which shows me how many awesome games I have yet to play, out of those that I can think of. The genre that I don't think we've seen enough of on the Wii is probably the racing genre. Not enough games or quality in this area. However, in everything else, there is a great selection of games for the system. There are probably between 5-10 Wii owners on this board who I think know the system inside out, and these are also the gamers who probably have truely loved the system. Basically, you get out what you put in. Don't let all the trashy third party games cloud your vision. As for the topic at hand, I'm not really all that worried. The only thing that does slightly bother me is that Nintendo don't fully make the best out of the opportunities that do arise. For example, they've not made the use of MotionPlus or the WiiConnect24 service. I'd like them to take one idea and actually go all out on that idea. Edit: Shit, forgot Goldeneye off the list. Edit 2: Also, the Pro Evo games on the Wii, which probably trounce what the other systems have to offer. Great use of the control system.
  24. I know the simple solution will be to just use the four-face buttons on the right hand side as a d-pad. But...if there's an analogue stick there, it would be much better and more precise to use that. Saying that, we didn't exactly see a million different shooters on the system. However, the one game that is making me a bit concerned is Kid Icarus, especially the on-rails parts.
  25. Oi, gay. Whats the link for that crazy arnie megamix you gave me ages ago. You know...LAWL LAWL LOL LWAL LAWL...that one.

    Cheers babe.
