  1. Finally, a win. Away from home, as well. Really do think that having my Captain (also best defender) out for the first few games did a lot of damage. I stayed relatively injury free most of last season, with a minor crisis halfway through that I somehow got through. It was inevitable I'd have some sort of problem at some point. I only wish my team were a bit further down the line and had higher skill levels. I'm confident I can get something from the next run of games. DRAGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
  2. Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss! This was my main concern with the game. So, absolutely delighted by this news. I was worried that I wouldn't click with holding the stylus in the right hand and moving with the left, so this at least gives me an alternative option. Really is awesome that they've allowed this.
  3. Of course they're not going to overturn the ban. A two footed tackle is simply not allowed these days. If they did overturn it, what message does that send out? That a two footed tackle is ok, as long as the player doesn't get hurt or gets out of the way? It will just further blur the line between what is accepted and what isn't, which will only lead to more confusion for referees. The only thing that angers me about this is that it is clear that these referees need help. I'm sure they don't like being scrutinised every single week, and I feel sorry for them. They have a hard job and the FA and FIFA are not making it any easier for them by blurring the lines and not allowing them access to video technology which could help them when making big calls.
  4. The football fan in me was happy to see Henry score a goal against the Leeds Scum. It makes you wonder why he ever left. Arsenal never achieved the same heights without him.
  5. Sure it was a Leeds player and not Chamakh and Arshavin doing some shooting practice? Wait, that's ridiculous. It hit the target.
  6. I find pull ups really hard, too. I can do unassisted dips, although I wouldn't say I'm great at them. For pull ups, I usually go for assisted and then do a set or two with unassisted, and try to bash out as many reps as I can. It's a struggle, mind. But, it's fun trying. You will get better if you keep pushing your body. I'm going to go to the gym tomorrow for the first time in about a month. Or at least, I'll try to go before work. Maybe make that your goal, keep focusing on squeezing out another rep, then lower the assisted weight until you can do it without it.
  7. I have a good feeling about tomorrow, too. I'm away from home, but I hope I can get a win. Will be very, very surprised if I don't win tomorrow. Although, my star striker is out with a suspension.
  8. Alien is a great film. I still think it looks brilliant to this day. Doesn't seem like it was made in 1979, although it's got a very particular look and feel to it. They shot it really well. Also, despite the fact that the film takes place on the Nostromo for about 70% or so of it, they really nailed the setting. After watching this film a hundred times, I feel like I could walk through the Nostromo and find my way around quite easily. It's very believable, very authentic. Definitely watch it. Not when you're half asleep. Get some good food, sit down and spend a night with it. One of the greatest moments of my life is getting the chance to see this film, the Director's Cut at my local cinema back in Newport on Halloween, with a cinema full of about 5 people. Anyway, I talk too much. No more posting from me. Until you've seen the film!
  9. I haven't touch this game yet. But...Nintendo could do whatever they like with Mario Kart. They could take MK7, make it possible to play with 2 extra people online and take away a few features, and you'd still buy it anyway.
  10. I recommend you watch the Alien films. Maybe miss Resurrection...and the AvP films as they're pretty shit. The first film in particular is a triumph in Science Fiction and Horror. Second is a great action thriller. I like the third, although it gets a lot of bad press. There's something very human about it that I like.
  11. I've watched the trailer about 20 times already. Some of the machinery and vehicles does look like something you could have possibly have seen in the first Alien film. So, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the story is simply about the same company making a different discovery elsewhere. It could just be that they've tried to capture a look of what vehicles/machines look like at that point in time, so maybe it could be a different company altogether. I was very dubious of this at first, about it being an Alien prequel. But, to his credit, Ridley Scott seems to have distanced himself from that notion and more towards it just being a different story altogether, with some "links" to the first film. So, being in the same universe. A story that takes place at the same time of Alien (or there abouts) without actually being directly related to the plot of the first film. The main thing that we see is the space jockey and a ship that represents the derelict from the first film. Both only feature in a small part of Alien. The Space Jockey was originally just a plot device, it was there to add mystery and to give the viewer some sort of "idea" about how the eggs came to be on that ship, on that planet. Otherwise, without the jockey, you have an empty ship with eggs. So, I'm guessing Scott is taking that plot device and is expanding it into it's own story. Or, maybe I'm wrong and it has nothing to do with that. I'm confident he will do a competent job, as Alien means very much to him. He won't touch that or Blade Runner unless he is absolutely sure he knows what he is doing. Remember, Alien came out in 1979...he's had plenty of time to mess around with it before now and hasn't. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt about this for now. Plus, the trailer looks fucking awesome.
  12. A film set in the Alien universe is fine. There's a lot of potential there as there are plenty of ideas and themes that could be explored for their own separate story. You could explore: - The "space jockey", seen in the derelict ship when Kane gets face-hugged. - The derelict itself. What is it doing there? Where does it come from? - The company Weyland-Yutani. Maybe the story could revolve around another one of their ships that makes a discovery. The Nostromo made a discovery of a certain kind in the first film, maybe there was another different type of discovery featuring a different ship and crew. - The marines in Aliens. Maybe a separate crew has a different type of mission non-xenomorph related. - The prisoners from Alien3. Maybe there's another prison planet. We learn that the company dabbles in different things: Terraforming, mining on far-away planets, creating correctional/prison facilities, having close links with the military/marines. Who knows what else they do. There's a lot there. Definitely. Many of which do not have to have anything to do with the original Alien, except for simply taking place within the same "universe." So, maybe the company is there. Maybe some of the planets mentioned are there. The derelict is there, or a ship that looks like it.
  13. You're late, my fellow LiNk. I creamed my pantalons over this a few weeks back. I can't wait. I'm dragging Ine to see it, with or without her consent.
  14. I'm pretty sure I never said that! In his opening post and sig, I mean. Ban teh foo'.
  15. Very mixed about the game yesterday. Thought we were quite good going forward in the first half, but we played terrible in the second. We turned around what could have been a thumping City affair into making some of their players look like heroes. Should have buried the game, but we got complacent. I'm also mixed about the red card. It was two footed, and if Nani had been a half second late, something nasty could have happened to his leg/ankle. But, it was close, and Kompany did win the ball. But, if we follow the law, he had to go. Nani made an identical tackle to this against Villa in 2010 I think it was, and he was red carded. Nobody claimed we were robbed then, so if that was a red, then this has to be a red, too. Overall, I'm very happy we've beaten them. We haven't been playing well, so to go there and win is great. I hope we destroy those smelly scousers now. :p
  16. Whenever we hear the word "Nintendo", we automatically think of 2, maybe 3 franchises in particular. Mario and Zelda. In fact, they are quite different in terms of gameplay and what you get out of them, yet somehow they both contain that Nintendo-zest that you don't find in many other places. Mario is simple, platforming fun. It will always revolve around basic platforming, getting from point A to point B, even if there are some tricky stages and areas thrown in there. Zelda is about adventure, and it's about working through the story, obtaining items and defeating a type of evil. The essence of both games will never change. Many of us have been gaming since we were toddlers. I've had a SNES since the 90s, so we're talking about 20 or so years of gaming there. In that time, whenever I hear Nintendo, these are the franchises that people associate with Nintendo. It's not the only thing they do, but they have other types of games that seem to contain that Nintendo magic. Yet, there are some that we will just automatically relate to Nintendo when we hear them. Mario Kart, Mario Party, Super Smash Bros, F Zero. I think this is what Oxygen waste is saying, although I've only read a bit of all of this. There's two types of Nintendo: Classic Nintendo, and something else. He is saying Xenoblade isn't classic Nintendo, which I guess he is right. This is not technically something that Nintendo have been well known for over the years. The closest think to link to it is Zelda, but they're very different.
  17. Paul Scholes is one of my favourite United players of all time. However, I hope Fergie sees him as an option, and not an answer. This just further convinces me that we won't buy in January. Which is worrying, in my opinion.
  18. Coaching and facilities is one thing, but going out on a field and playing against other Premier League players is another totally separate thing. You need match practice for that. You will only get so far with the coaching itself. The coaching and facilities will no doubt be better. But, the standard will also be much higher. It's hard enough for some of the more experienced players out there, let alone somebody who is coming from a League One team and is only 21.
  19. Two things today that made me laugh. Not sure if they've been posted before. Second one made me laugh so hard, I needed to wipe away the tears.
  20. Neither. I'm all about forking.
  21. That's pretty cool. You've almost reversed those digits around.
  22. Thank you for your kind words, everyone. If you're ever in the area, you're more than welcome to pop in for a cuppa or something moar. (depending on how hawt you are) I make the best cuppas in the world. And I do the other thing pretty satisfactorily as well. I'll even make you tea afterwards!
  23. Maybe we can grease ourselves up and pretend we're muscle-bound porn stars. Or, we could do more than pretend.
  24. My top centreback is back after being injured on the first day of the season. If I don't get any points from this game, I will whine like a bitch. 0 wins in 5, only 1 point. Fucking sucks. DRAGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
  25. Happy Birthday, N-E. Best Nintendo website and forum by far. *flushes the Cubed3 logo down the toilet*
