Games you've forced yourself to play through!
Fierce_LiNk replied to nekunando's topic in General Gaming Discussion
KHALEEEEEEEEEEEED. Did you have nothing better to do? :p Ahahaa. I can't imagine doing that with this game. It didn't seem THAT fun to play through that many times. You should have spent that time perfecting the traditional KHALEEEED SAAAG PANEEEEER. -
Whoa, where did I say as I was angry or pissed? Looking back through our posts, I thought we were having a discussion on a topic. It's not heated whatsoever. It's a bit sad that you've had to go down that refugee/ransom route because not once did I say anything that was out of line. If you read back through this thread, I just said that usage of the N-Europe name should be avoided. As soon as you start using the site's name, it then gets quite messy over what the actual views of the website in question are. Plus, aren't we supposed to have an official N-Europe podcast anyway? What happened to that? That's another issue in itself as this would be the only voice that others would be hearing about the site. So, in a way, this would be the official N-Europe broadcast...talking in large parts about other consoles. I'll just leave this here: The Bard's post, a few posts up from mine. More or less saying the same thing.

You've probably made the best choice, then. You need to invest a fair bit of time into the Wii version until it starts to click. Giving it to a newbie would be hilarious as they wouldn't know what the fuck they were doing. The only thing you're paying for with newer versions of Fifa and Pro Evo are updated stats. Oh, and possibly a broken penalty taking system. Aside from that, there hasn't been a great deal of evolution for the last 4 or so years. It's worrying because Pro Evo used to be the series that was pushing boundaries, but even that's become a bit lazy. They truly did catch up to FIFA/EA in that respect. -
Oh My God, a cameraaaaaa. Looook to the futuuuure. Holy sheeet, a gameboooy.

I haven't lifted in about two weeks and have eaten like shit because I'm in Belgium with Ine. That feel when you look in the mirror naked and still think you look pretty decent. I'm excited to get back onto the grind. Still cutting, which seems like the slowest thing eveeer. It's depressing how easy it is to put on weight but slow to take it off. At least to do it properly.

The football example does make sense because you could copy and paste different names into the places and the logic behind it is still sound. You wouldn't catch Liverpool fans running a podcast about Man United on their website (unless it was to belittle them). It's just not a done thing. By all means, run your own podcasts (we're not the police) but the N-Europe name shouldn't be brought into it. As Goron said, he almost made his own special site for it but decided to do it here anyway. I feel pretty strongly on this issue, especially as somebody in the past who has had ties with the main website. I feel that we, as N-Europe have already gone far out of our way to make this place more than hospitable for people to discuss their views on other systems. I would say it's about time we stuck to our roots and remembered that are meant to be Nintendo orientated. At least, like I said, whilst that name is still above the door. IGN are a bit different as they have their fingers in many pies anyway. They don't have any allegiance towards one brand, so they can pretty much get away with it. That's lovely. It doesn't change anything, though and I think it's a perfectly reasonable to suggest that we don't use the N-Europe name. Like I said, it's a suggestion and I do feel quite strongly on this one. A podcast done by Nintendo fans on a Nintendo website about Nintendo could be a real success.

#06 - N-Europe: Let's Talk Games (Resident Evil 4)
Fierce_LiNk replied to Fused King's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Agree with most of this. Except the series died with RE4. It's never been the same since and we've lost something special. I can understand how RE4 changed things for many. But, personally, it's up there with films such as the Blair Witch Project or those...annoying films that are filmed from a first person perspective/video camera, Paranormal Activity and whatnot. Just because it changed things, it doesn't necessarily mean it's a good thing. The story and characters of RE4 equally blew. Big time. Gone is that hatred for Umbrella, as you pointed out. I don't even know what we're left with. The one thing I can say that I will reminisce of are the awesome Wiimote controls. Aside from that, the rest of it was forgettable for me. -

Resident Evil 4. Looking back, I think Capcom did a very good job at conning you into believing that it's a Resident Evil game. It isn't. You can pinpoint the series to this exact game where it went sour. I think I would have liked this a lot more had it been giving a different "cover". It's far too action-based, there are way too many enemies on the screen at one time and it never really felt like a survival horror, to me. I struggled playing this. Generally, it felt like a chore to play. On the other hand, the Wiimote controls were kickass and it was "fun" to play, without ever the game itself being fun or...whatever it was meant to be. Also...quick time events. Although people moaned about Wiimote controls being gimmicky, waggle-fest and so on, QTEs were and are still worse. It's a shame because the controls are great, it looks nice and it's good what Capcom managed on both the GameCube and Wii. But, this isn't the game I wanted. -
The other consoles board is an accessory to the main forum, in this case the Wii U board, or Nintendo board, or whatever it's called at that present time. It's similar to how the RedCafe Man United boards have a section where you can talk about general football stuff. I don't feel comfortable with the idea of using the N-Europe name to then discuss rival consoles, as we are still N-Europe. It is meant to be Nintendo orientated and it should stay that way as long as that name is above the door. You wouldn't expect there to be a Southampton FC podcast on a Portsmouth website. It seems pretty obvious to me.

This...is a daft comment. "Club offers new contract to star player who they don't want to go to their rivals shock"...of course we want to keep our star players. Letting him leave, especially in an argument over money would have been ridiculous. We need to keep hold of our best players, especially as how we've changed our manager and it being the dawn of a new era and all that. Had he gone, what sort of message would that have sent out to the world? Simple. That we can't compete. Signing Mata, giving Rooney and Januzaj big, long-term deals shows the opposite, that we can still compete with the best. There's been players before him who have been offered shit tons of money. Hell, the majority of Premier League players get paid more in a week than we get paid in a year anyway. It's an over-priced business and we've known that for some time. Make a new thread for Rugby stuff. You are allowed to make new threads, you know.

I disagree. The N-Europe name has always been linked in with Nintendo, as has its heritage (Revolution-Europe, Cube-Europe). If you're going to talk about other formats, drop the usage of the N-Europe name.

Disregard everything anybody has said in this thread and just pick up one of the latter Pro Evo games for the Wii. The control scheme is far superior to anything else that is out there and it more than makes up for its flaws, the lack of licence, etc. It's not especially pretty to look at, but the gameplay is the most perfect form of football I've ever played on a console. Pro Evo and Fifa haven't been any good for the other consoles for about...3 years now. At least. If you just want to pick up a game to play with your mates, it doesn't really matter which of the others you choose. They're all the same, bar FIFA having the licensed teams and Pro Evo playing slightly better (debatable). However, if you want something with more depth and the ability to create plays that are nigh-on impossible on the other versions, get the Wii versions of Pro Evo. Not sure what the last one was...2012? Get that. It's probably cheap as fuck, too. -
That match can be summed up with 4-4-2/10. I'm relieved that we didn't get beaten, but disappointed that we are playing this way. The same tactics, the same selections, without adapting to the opponent or taking charge. I think we were good for the draw, though. Better defensively, but we struggled to create anything going forward.

Season is over. We don't have what it takes to finish in the Top 5 and I don't think we can do it in Europe either. The look from the players at full time said it all, it's over. In February. Actually no, the losses at home to Newcastle and Everton cost us. There's no belief there. The tactics are crap. The players don't decide for themselves to cross the ball 80/90 times in a single match, that has to come from the manager. It was the same in the second half as the third, so Moyes obviously didn't tell them to stop. We almost got away with it. The reality is though that whilst we were 1-0 down at home to the team placed bottom of the league at half time, Liverpool were 4-0 up against Arsenal the day before, the league leaders. The style of play is all wrong. I read your first post about the sitcom, then about half of your second before giving up. So, no, I didn't read the third. You're honestly just a sad person who comes in here to gloat/post your anti-United views, rather than coming in here to support your own team. If you actually posted something worth reading instead of your garbage, maybe people would read it.

If we don't start Januzaj AND Mata on Wednesday, I'm going to drop a bollock. Even then, I'm expecting Giroud and Cazorla to cause us trouble. Not sure about Ozil, he didn't look influential at all against Liverpool and part of me is hoping that we can keep him quiet. We'll need to play dirty and aggressive to win. It'll have to be our grittiest performance of the year to get anything from that game.
-
I'll be amazed if you don't win it on Wednesday. Not even trying to be kind. We can't compete in our current state. I have no idea how we beat you earlier in the season. The only way we'll win it is if Park Ji Sung re-signs for us to claim his mandatory goals against Arsenal. Think he's due about 6 now.
-
Blade, please. I don't think I could take another 90/120 minutes of CROSS THE BALL LEFT. CROSS THE BALL RIGHT. CROSS THE BALL ALL DAY. CROSS THE BALL ALL NIGHT. I'm going to have nightmares tonight. The ball going around the goal. Over it, along the ball. From the left, from the right. Even diagonal crosses, occasionally.
-
That was embarrassing. The tactics are dreadful. Genuinely not sure if Moyes will be in the job tomorrow morning.

That Liverpool/Arsenal game was insane, especially the first half. Liverpool were just brutal and went for the kill early on. They were ripping that midfield apart and you could see that Arsenal badly needed somebody there to shield the back four and stop them from getting through. Brutal football. It says more about Brendan Rodgers/Liverpool than it does Arsene Wenger/Arsenal, imo. They play good football and they have absolute belief in what the manager wants them to do. What I like about them is that they will alter their formation and shape to counter the teams they're playing against. They'll play 4-4-2, 3-5-2, 3-4-3 or 4-5-1, they'll do whatever it takes to win the match and play good football. I'm hopeful that Moyes will start to learn this and do something similar in his second season...but I'm not sure he's dynamic enough. Rodgers is something special. He IS Liverpool's manager and should be for the next decade.

Happy Birthday, braaah. I texted you, facebooked you and N-Europed you. Triple Penetration! -
My heart sank this morning when I heard the news. He's probably one of my favourite ever United players. I remember hugely doubting him when he first came, but he has been utterly superb for us since. Amazing player. Wish him all the best. Not really. In fact, the timing probably couldn't be better. He's in and out of the squad due to his injuries. The injury he suffered not so long ago has meant that he has spent so long out. He hasn't really been properly available for us for a decent spell for quite some time. It's good that he moves on now as it allows us to try new centre-back pairings and gives the youngsters some more game time. If that fails, it means that we can really look hard in the transfer market in the summer and look at bringing in new players, which is something we need to do anyway. Also, for the longer term, it's good for Moyes to bring in the players that he wants and who he thinks can play the style of football that he wants to play. My only regret here is that I wish that Vidic was moving on after Giggs and Ferdinand. To be honest, even before the season, the centreback situation worried me as both Vidic and Ferdinand were/are ageing and both suffering from a lot of injuries at their respective ages. Also also, it's not good for the club to have a "captain" who hardly plays or who spends so much time out injured. That seems to be a problem that I don't think gets reported enough. We need a new captain to lead the team on that field. The captaincy seems to have been split between Vidic/Evra/Ferdinand and Giggs. We haven't had one clear cut captain for quite some time, in my opinion.
