Platformers can be a bit repetitive if you play too much in one go. I imagine I'll play this in one-hour bursts or something. The game looks and feels beautiful. I hear that it gets better, so I'm excited to play more. The circus level (World 1-3 or 4, can't remember which) was fantastic.

I've heard good things about Grainger, but we don't have anything like that around here. I think there's only a few of them dotted around the country? Either way, there's just not enough of these types of shops to make a true difference. Gamestation used to be the place you could go to for a decent chat about games (and GAME, although that's store depending) but it's not the same anymore and hasn't been for years. Laaaandaaan. You Londoners have it easy with your long opening hours and your monuments. :p

The game has arrived. I've played about 50 minutes so far (before Match of the Day starts). Fantastic game. I'm loving the look of it. It's wonderful.

As sad as it is, buying games on the highstreet is an archaic and dying practice. They're just too damn expensive. We need some reasonably priced representation, something to rival GAME and HMV. I just bought Super Mario 3D World for £25 online. In a store (if they even stocked it in the first place) it would cost almost double that. Just...why? There's no incentive or real reason to go into a store these days and buy a game when you can get it online for much cheaper. Plus, when the fuck would I go anyway? Stores close around 5/6 o'clock, so there's no way I could get there after work. So, that leaves the weekend. Buy it online in the week and you could have it by the weekend anyway. Pluuuus, parking charges seem to be going up if you do have to drive into the town centre. It's sad, but the world has changed.

No it wouldn't, because the platforming sections in Other M are pretty good actually, far better than they're done in Prime. Although, in fairness to Prime, it doesn't quite work as easily as it's not as easy to judge the distance between jumps...as you can't see your feet or whole body. Other M and Prime are very different. Other M is probably the closest we've got to the 2D games (particularly Fusion) in 3D. The platforming elements are great, as are the sections where you have to use Samus' special abilities. It works well. Imo, better than it does in Prime. What Prime does well is actually create better worlds, they seem more alive and visceral. So, different. I like them both immensely. I have to agree with OxyWaste with this one, Serebii. Prime's save system works absolutely fine. Yes, it will be frustrating at times, but it needs to be that way, otherwise it's just an absolute stroll through the park. It's a struggle, you are meant to be on your knees by the time you arrive at the next save point. Plus, nothing is ever useless in Prime. If you died right before a save point, in theory you should get through it next time as you've already been through it once and know what to expect. It's a very rewarding experience because even something as small as a save station is seen as a treasure or a sanctuary.

I heard of this plane and banner talk on another forum and thought it would be just a fruit-less rumour. Can't believe it's actually happening. A lot of fans have criticised his selections and tactics, but the majority want him to succeed. Nobody wants to see him fail. I don't see what this banner does to help the team, the club or him as a manager. It'll destroy him and shatter whatever confidence he and the team had left. Mistakes have been made this season, and it's clear that David either hasn't learned from them or he is taking a loooong time to learn. Either way, this is pretty class-less and goes against how the club conducts things. I'm sad to see it happen. As for where I stand: I want him to succeed, but he's making it very difficult for himself. He was almost doomed before he started by getting rid of the backroom staff; it's not something that he has ever recovered from. Importantly, I want to see him be much more ruthless and go out to win games. None of this cautious bullshit that we've seen far too often.

The save system in Metroid isn't horrific at all. It would completely go against the nature and atmosphere of the game if you were simply allowed to save wherever you wanted. It's meant to be tough, a slog, a struggle to the next save point. This is tough: 2D vs. 3D. In the end, I took the two pinnacle titles from both 2D and 3D (Super Metroid vs. Metroid Prime) and tried to compare them. In the end, I went for "both equally". For me, it's easier to navigate around a 2D World, but Prime has the awesome control scheme/better battles with the awesome first person view. Graphically, they're both fantastic but for different reasons. I loved the very first time you land on Talon IV in Prime (dat rain). Too hard to choose one over the other. So, both. On another note: 3D Zelda always wins for me.

I'm a teacher, so my life consists of the following: Work, coming home and working out, then doing some more work. I try to sneak some gaming in on Sundays. Usually around midday. It's a pain trying to fit everything in. Work, travelling to and from places, exercise, eating healthily, work for school (am crai), watching the football. That's not including the times when I meet up with people, although I tend to go into hibernation until the end of term/half term. I reckon about 2 hours a week on average. Maybe more towards the end of term. Played loads of Xenoblade last week, so about 6.

I'm in the mindset now that we won't win any games, home or away. Predicted the 3-0 scoreline earlier today and am a bit shocked that we didn't lose by more if I'm being honest. David Silva and Yaya Toure are so, so good. Both ran rings around us. Numerous times we had 8 or 9 players behind the ball, yet one or two of their men just walked through us. The pressing was non-existent. Bayern are going to beat us home and away by at least 3 goals in each game. If we can get through the tie with a lesser aggregate score than Barcelona last year, that'll be something.

Nintendo are so retarded in many different ways. The Wii U is flopping hard (let's not dress it up, it's a failing console) and they should be using every opportunity to turn things around. Building better third party ties, more exposure, more marketing, more advertising. What they're doing is the opposite of what they should be doing. It's not being "different" or unique, or clever. What do the CEOs do all day? Plan how to dig themselves another hole?

I looooved that quest. It's great to have a quest where you can physically see things changing for the better. Compared to what Colony 6 looks like when you start that quest, it's amazing how it finishes up. I'd have loved an entire game/story section just on that.
-
I'm shocked, brah. This game is wonderful. I thought you'd be all over it. I do get the point about it being too expansive at times. For me, I loved it because we had a living and breathing world. It might be too much for some, especially if you prefer linear games. As for side quests: If I could go back, I would pay much more attention to the sidequests earlier on. I left them for too late and found that I hadn't got everything needed for Colony 6 in the rightful locations, so had to resort to trading/finding them in obscure places. Would've been much easier if I had done it as I went along. 10/10 game though, for me. I can't wait for the day when I get to start this all over again.

I thought something similar. :p The word "Super" also put me off it, for some reason. Sounded quite corny, so I passed up on it.

The tailoring of the suit is good, but the colour isn't that great. I hate dat feel where you are certain that some clothes will be the greatest of all time, yet they turn out to be disappointments. Finding a good suit is hard.

It's clear that he meant the issues he's having with his thread. I think Diageo's got this one right. If something bothers you, then you should post about it if that's what you want to do. Sure, there will always be stuff in here that will pale in comparison, there's not a lot anyone can do about that though. From what I've seen, folk are usually pretty good and won't post the "petty" stuff directly after something serious, and they usually offer their support and help. If this forum has faults, being helpful towards one another or being supportive isn't one of them.

I think you're downplaying the greatness of Super Metroid slightly by saying it's very solid. It's genre defining. As much as I love Metroid Fusion (which is a loooot), Super Metroid is on another completely level. Fusion is linear, Super is expansive. The exploration in Super Metroid is unparalleled. My only regret with the game is that I didn't play it through/appreciate it fully around the time it came out.

I really, really want to play Zero Mission. Fusion is awesome. Pure Nintendo goodness. Wish they'd do more of this sorta stuff.

There's many different layers/levels of badness. It's not really something you can quantify. Plus, sometimes it just depends on the day. Sometimes you'll have a shit day where the little things get you down, other times it'll just roll off you like water. It all depends really.

I've done it. Finally. 121 Hours Later... Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful game. Perfect characters, perfect music, perfect story, perfect battle system. It's sublime. Dare I say it...the best game I've ever played. It's very overwhelming. I found an entirely new (secret) area during my final few hours of the game...the Colony 6 quest where you throw the cap into the waterfall. So beautiful. Not sure what to do with my life now.
-
This game divides opinion. I love it. It's more of a prequel to Fusion (ish) than a sequel to Super Metroid. Either way, it's one of my favourite Wii games.

That's amazing if true. The players he had in the first 500 were legendary. Henry....hnnnnggggg.
