The new anime and manga thread! [Use Spoiler Tags!]

I thought this interesting little development might be appreciated here. So, I'm currently living in central Sapporo and figured I could do with some food from the convenience store and a strangely named apartment building caught my eye whilst walking along the alleyway I had a little chuckle. For those who can't remember or haven't watched it, Mari screams this in the second Rebuild of Evangelion movie. After sending it to Guy, we were wondering when exactly this was built and if it is just a coincidence. I found out it was built in 2013, but just as I found that out, I discover this is no coincidence. Here is the website for the apartment complex, just look at the fucking interior! -

Word coming in that the finished units have arrived from Foxconn and they forgot to incorporate any ethernet port/wifi in the console. -

Maybe they wont reveal it because they realized it's a fucking shit idea and just want to hold on for as long as possible before facing the reality they are doomed to handheld only until the smartphone menace ruins it completely. -
My personal favorite will always be when you assumed you the beginning of Black and White were tutorials as your Pokemon weren't gaining any exp

Today will be a difficult day. As some of you know, I was pretty hyped to be arriving in Japan before release date as I wanted to play it, but I won't be buying it just yet. I have no TV and no PS3/PS4 and, more importantly, haven't got the security of a job yet. If I wanted to go out and buy it all now, even with the cheapest route I'm looking at roughly £250 and that's with a used PS3 which will probably be in very bad condition, a PS3 copy of the game and a tiny TV from a recycle store which I'm probably underestimating the price for as they hold their value quite well here. This could change though as the new PS4 slim is on sale from today for 30,000 yen compared to the 32,000 your mostly looking at for a used regular PS4 so I'm expecting those prices to be adjusted soon. But I guess this post could serve as a spoiler warning to most people as the game is now out in the wild!

I suck at this, why can't I stop playing?
Debug Mode replied to Glen-i's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Oh boy, definitely got this feeling lately. I've probably sunk around £30 already into rhythm games here in the arcades, and one sticks out that I fucking love but I suck at. MaiMai Pink Plus is a rhythm game where the buttons are dotted around a circular screen and there's also some touch specific controls where you have to hover your hand in multiple different directions. It gets crazy when, for example, you use your right hand to smash a long series of buttons on the center right of the screen and then all of sudden, you need your left hand as there's a combo press coming up and all of a sudden, you're losing track of all of the button prompts heading your way. Absolutely mental. I wish they would make a foreigner corner so I could play it away from all the Japanese, as they all seem to be insanely good at it. The music selection is fantastic though, lots of Sega classics from Phantasy Star, Sonic, Burning Rangers etc, there's a lot of Persona 4 Dancing All Night tracks, Hatsune Miku and Touhou Project. Good fun, i'll include a video. -
Fixed that for you. Anything is possible with this game as it is so radically different. For clarification I do agree with you, but it's probably due to the way you talk that people get a kick out of the times when you're wrong man.

I'm liking the theories going around about the ultra beasts being connected to certain characters as some of them do indeed share similar design elements to the ones previously shown. UB02 is the most obvious as it looks way too close in appearance to the female Aether member with the strangely cut hair.

They will announce something at least at TGS, maybe not a full review but a tease in the way the Wii was originally handled at its E3 announcement (console reveal at E3, motion control reveal at the following TGS). If they don't there is clearly something fucking wrong with the company, this is the last big game show of the year right? Or am I forgetting something? -
Kind of surprised that Sony didnt hold on to it to make it stronger to take the Scorpio head on, this will be very interesting to watch and see how it all pans out. Completely forgot to check out all the info when I woke up, but saw them hanging up the advertisements in Yodobashi Camera around noon.

Im in a different time zone my friend, apologies for the confusion.

Just so I have a point of reference, I weighed myself at my friends apartment in Tokyo and I was 94 kilos. Last time I went to Japan I arrived here weighing 110 kilos and by the time I got back was around 86 kilos, so Im curious as to how it will go this time considering I have no desire to eat right now like a normal human being

i really wanted to watch this but fuck staying up until 4am for it! Looking forward to the reactions when I wake up!

Try is the key word here, this is a tough scene to break into. I have the age advantage, but I'm pretty sure no one would describe me as"fabulous"

To any of you that appreciate video game music, I introduce Silvagunner, who only uploads the highest quality rips. Definitely give them a browse, those are just a selection off the top of my head.

My money is on a new 3D Mario game or Splatoon sequel to be the premier game footage for the NX -

But we can still rob Slowpoke of their tails, right? Need that stamina boost. -
I am thinking about being a little cheeky and buying a PS4 when I arrive for Persona 5, I'll have to consider Destiny as well as it sounds like a heap of fun. It was great meeting you too man!

I'll be the king of Harajuku by the end of next week.

NX - One Revival, One Crossover, One Exclusive
Debug Mode replied to Ashley's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Seeing as we're unsure as to whether or not this is a handheld or a console (or even a hybrid!), I'm going to split this in two. Handheld Revival - Advance Wars with the second generation cast (Advance 1, 2 and Dual Strike) but with a gritty, post apocalyptic scenario in similar fashion to Days of Ruin. Not exactly a huge revival but the absence of the series on the 3DS has definitely been felt by quite a few of us on the board and, I'm not sure how the rest feel, but I felt that although the gameplay had taken a hit with the most recent addition, the story direction improved but the characters were just a bit too fresh and I felt a stronger connection to those in the past games. It would be great to see it playable in two different modes, so we retain the original turn based strategy elements but with an option to play it as if it were Battalion Wars also. Crossover - I'm going to go there. Pokemon x Shin Megami Tensei. It would never happen, but I would love to see it. My idea for it takes a bit of inspiration from the (not so successful) bid to create two versions of the Street Fighter and Tekken collaboration (of which the Tekken heavy version will probably never arrive). So you would have Pokemon X MegaTen which is probably the most likely scenario as there was a game known as SMT: Devil Children which was aimed specifically at a younger audience to compete with Pokemon. The idea of bribing a wild Pikachu with a bottle of ketchup would be great. Conversely, there would be SMT X Pokemon, which would finally offer a more mature narrative for a Pokemon game aimed at older gamers (which already play Pokemon, let's not kid ourselves, it's not exactly a market that needs breaking). There are so many things inherently wrong on a moral level in the Pokemon world and this would let them explore a little bit of that, something I have a lot of respect for Black and White for. Exclusive - The World Ends With You 2. There is no need for an explanation here. Console Revival - Mother. It would be great if they could finally explore what they were hoping to accomplish with the 64DD. It could be a remake for all I care, and it would be a great opportunity to release it all worldwide. Crossover - Xenoblade and Phantasy Star. This is quite a hard one to explain as the Xenoblade series is looking like it'll go in many different directions and there isn't going to be connecting the series as a whole and they'll all have different settings. I would love to see Phantasy Star be handled by Monolith with an open world setting like that in Xenoblade Chronicles X, heck, I always thought it shared a lot in common with Phantasy Star Online any way in setting. Another example is the hints that they could go for a Medieval setting in the next game, which would work awesomely if they incorporated it into the original Phantasy Star games released on the Master System and Mega Drive. The setting was a mix of what felt futuristic yet had a slightly rural feel, it's quite hard to describe but any one else who has played may be able to explain the setting a little better. The best I can liken it to is someone in the 1600s writing a sci-fi novel. Exclusive - A sequel to the Chrono series. Because it needs to be done. -
This time next week, I'll be starting the first day of what could be a new life in Japan. I've been pretty inactive this year as it's been a pretty hectic year. Certain things ramped up at work and the supervisor role kept me incredibly busy, split up with my partner after a pretty rocky period (amazing how a long distance relationship can cause so much damn stress) and I vowed that the money I had saved up to get out of my £2000 overdraft and to go visit her in the states will instead go to expediting my overall goal of returning to Japan. A couple of years back, my application for the JET program was declined and I had always kept my eye out for jobs that would sponsor your visa application but many of them required candidates to be present in the country with a visa that had permission to work, which makes entry quite difficult. So I spent the majority of this year being quite frugal with my money until I had met all the criteria to apply for a working holiday visa which would not only get me into the country for a year long period. I had other options such as going for certain English conversation schools but you're stuck any where they need you, you get little say as to preferences as to where to stay. In July I was successful in my application for the visa which made me considerably busier as I had so much stuff to sort out and making sure I saw the most of people I might not see for a people. I'm hoping I can get into one of these jobs that will sponsor your change in visa status to a working visa, so I can stay out for as long as I'm employed. It's a huge gamble but it's time to start banking on my degree with proof of my language skills. Last time I knew the score, I get 12 months and have to be back to finish my university course so it was pure excitement to go out there and have a fucking blast. This time, it's a little different, the anxiety is understandably there but I'm also a little sad that all the little things I had here that got me through the hard times, the rough work weeks, isn't going to be so readily available any more. A really big example of this is for the last year and a half, every Friday I've had the pleasure of hanging out with the lovely @Guy and Vera, anything that was offered to me on a Friday I would decline as I love hanging out with them and they've always been so welcoming. Funny how we've been good friends online for the best part of a decade and despite our proximity, never thought to simply hang out before that point aha. It's been a crazy rocky year and I'm about to enter what could be the most uncertain period of my life. Looking forward to my holiday period in Tokyo for the first week, and then onwards to Sapporo, the city which stole my heart from the moment I arrived for my foreign exchange.

An incredibly belated thanks to every one that attended on the Saturday! It was great meeting new and old faces after being on the verge of giving up on finding every one (guys, that wasn't The Cockpit!). Hope to see you guys again a couple of years down the line!

Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

I can understand your reasoning, but even with Nintendo slipping from their dominant position, NX will be the big focus for most of the industry due to the incredible secrecy and mystery behind what is a relatively late reveal if it is still on course for a March release. I think Ashley has a point with how Neo is due to be revealed earlier in the month, plus having the NX primed to be in playable form at TGS would steal the show if its key features do resonate with the crowd. After a few years of apathy, I'm very optimistic and excited for what Nintendo have in store with the NX. But there's always that little caution sign in my head about getting too excited about it heh -

Nintendo need to hurry the fuck up and announce a reveal date, I would totally extend my stay in Tokyo if it's going to be available to try at TGS. Any final bets on what it might be? I'm betting on handheld with the ability to plug into the TV. Not groundbreaking, but if it were a main feature it could pull it off better than the PSP did.
