My faith in Nintendo has wavered over the years, sure, but I've come to accept that Nintendo will always thrill and frustrate me in equal measure with every move they make. There are always going to be ups and downs being a Nintendo gamer so just stick along for the ride and enjoy it. Nintendo's decision to drop out of the technology race may have meant they missed out on big third party games, but at the same time it made the Wii a viable platform for the smaller quirkier titles that float my boat so much. I really doubt Fragile, Little King's Story and Zack & Wiki (to name but a few) would have got the greenlight on a HD console - they would have been too expensive and too high risk. Monster Hunter Tri was moved from PS3 to Wii for this very reason. The Wii U will probably be my last console so I'm excited to see what they come up with. I don't think games need another massive graphical leap, partly because I'm not interested in realistic titles as it is, but also because they're too expensive to make already. Another generational leap that focusses purely on graphics will just bankrupt studios left, right and centre, or drive them into purely digital distribution. I'll pick up the console on its release alongside a few third party games like AC 3, DS 2 and Rayman Legends. I'll save the Nintendo ones for Christmas day

EU Nintendo Direct 13th September 3pm
daftada replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
The premium version has it according to Shibata, and I'd believe him over IGN... -
Confirmed: Mutant Mudds is heading to Wii U! Straight from Jools Watsham himself! I'm guessing this will come with all the new grannie levels too.
-
Considering how good Treyarch have been at squeezing a lot out of the Wii's hardware, I'm really hoping the next COD has support for two gamepads and the tv screen. In 1080p. And 60 frames a second.

Thanks Serebii - can't believe I missed out Chunsoft - I love the Mystery Dungeon games! Well spotted Tamazoid, forgot about Fluidity. I'll be interested to see what NST are up to, it seems like ages since their last big game. Hoping for Metroid Hunters on 3DS or Wave Race on Wii U...

Added a couple of titles from the EU presentation (haven't watched the US or Japanese ones yet!) Changed a few released games from bold to italics. If you spot any more new games/changes let me know

daftada replied to Retro_Link's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Wow. It's tough to pick a top ten really. I ended up with 80+ wii games, not including wiiware, and enjoyed most of them. Ok, I'll give it a go. 1. Xenoblade 2. Little King's Story 3. Mario Galaxy 2 4. Zelda Twilight Princess 5. Mario Galaxy 6. Fragile Dreams 7. Last Story 8. Wii Sports 9. Smash Bros Brawl 10. Zelda Skyward Sword I think..... Can we have a separate top 5 for our favourite wii ware games? Wiiware desrves a bit more lovvin' ! 1. Lost Winds WotM 2. FFCC My life as a King 3. Tonema Sanner 4. Bubble Bobble Plus 5. Cave Story + -

Wii U Approaches: Backlog Battle!
daftada replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I've worked hard at reducing my backlog over the summer, still a few more to get out of the way. Not sure how much I'll clear with Pokemon Black 2 and Paper Mario 3DS on the horizon. Monster Hunter Tri I got to the mission where you have to trap a Great Jaggi, then just started playing online instead. Rune Factory Frontier I'm into Autumn, and halfway through the second dungeon. If it wasn't for the sprite mangement I'd probably play this a lot more. Pandora's Tower Boss #2 took a heck of a lot of tries, now I'm halfway through the third tower. Endless Ocean 2 I've passed the 'Atlantis' sunken city, just nearly halfway through I think. Super Mario Galaxy 2 I've cleared Bowser and just opened up the second to last level. -
Can you change the controls in Graces? Since Symphonia hard-wired Tales controls into my brain I've always had to switch 'block' and 'artes' around in every game since.

Damn, I was hoping for news on FF XIII-3. I gave up on FF XIII after two pretty dull hours, but I really enjoyed XIII-2 (played the demo, had really low expectations, then got completely hooked). I'm starting to wonder if I gave up on the first one too quickly. I guess this One won't make any sense if I haven't completed the first?
-
Spotted this in my local Sainsburys for £15, grab it if you can at that price!
-
This is definitely one I'll be buying from the eShop!
-
Their hands are probably tied by all the old Bond games over the years, well from Goldeneye onwards at least. Die Another Day is the only film I've ever walked out of in the cinema.
-
This looks great, but makes me think it's a shame Miyamoto never got to make his Marionette game.
-
Freakyforms deluxe and New Art Academy are both on the eShop

Glad you like it! Check out the OC Remix website and look for 'Birdman' by Scott Peebles, it's a fantastic remix. I really need to get my N64 set up again
-
I'd personally have preferred if they'd gone the route of updating the N64 game, like OoT and Starfox, but with Wuhu included as an added extra. But yeah, I still found it a relaxing game, even if I'd already explored every inch of Wuhu before. If you haven't already, check out the Birdman music from the N64 game. It's the most relaxing piece of music in any game ever! I used to leave the N64 game on in the background while I was studying for my GCSEs

Digital downloads are a great idea, but places like Tesco, Asda, and Amazon have incredibly strict rules you have to adhere to just to get a product on their shelves/listed on the website. One of which is the manufacturer cannot offer a product at a discount via their own channels. I'm sure Game/Gamestation would get pretty pissy too if Nintendo set the downloads at a lower price than the RRP. Remember - retailers are buying copies for £25-ish, then placing a mark-up on top, so they could list the game at £39.99 if they wanted, but they don't because they have to remain competitive. The same issue hurts Xbox & PS3 digital downloads, I can't understand how anyone would think Nintendo would be any different. The download code thing is a different kettle of fish entirely; I imagine Nintendo give some kind of commission on every sale. Retailers can set a lower price because they won't have inventory costs but again, that's only if they want to. I'm sure Game won't push DD too much because they make so much more on reselling 2nd hand copies than they do on a new one.

I know this is a massive leap in thinking but n-Space are due to make an announcement on their Facebook page very soon, it could be Winter related. Or they could be revealing the long awaited Mary-Kate & Ashley sequel. n-Space employee: “Just keep your eyes on the official n-Space Facebook page and you’re sure to see a surprise sooner rather than later.”
-
Xenoblade -maybe not continuing the storyline but that battle system deserves a new adventure wrapped around it. Maybe Monolith could be drafted in for a Monster Hunter spin off! Last Story - i'd really like to see more from Zael and his crew, or get to explore the world. Disaster - this was such an under-appreciated gem, I'd love a HD remix or a sequel. Bryce was a great lead character, one I'd like to more of. SMG 3 - I thought Nintendo would go with a third SMG for Wii U's launch rather than NSMB WiiU. Excite Trucks - excite bots was nowhere near as fun as excite trucks, the sequel was a bit too crazy for my liking. I'd like a return to the purer racing gameplay of Trucks. Wii Sports - nothing got family and friends off the sofa like wii sports did, so I'd be happy to see a Wii U version, with a wider variety of sports and online gaming please.

Include levels based on tetris and Pokemon Pinbal and let the gamepad holder play through those games while the other four fight (hit a player with an l-block or pinball to cause damage for example). Or (more likely) Melee had an option for one player to control the camera, SSB Wii U could take this one step further and give one player control of making items appear or manipulating the stages.

Ok, I finally finished this tonight, and I was actually impressed with the final third. The last few locations looked incredible, and the story tied up quite nicely. Still no idea why Asch got so pissy with Luke though. If anyone is still looking to play this I have two copies for sale, one of them sealed.
